What should we call each other?

My real name is Anna. You can call me that or my username; it doesn't really matter to me. [:)]

try this - I have two sisters with the same first and middle names.  One is an older step-sister.  Made for fun times opening Christmas presents marked "Sandra", esp when my mom was notorious for mislabeling gifts ANYWAY...

Again but with more emphasis, I repeat that I think it is inconsiderate to others when the username is not used.  The thread then appears to be a tight social group and to exclusion of others.  I like to see post that express an opinion addressed to the audience first.  I like to see post that makes comments on other posts to reference the post by quote but still address the comment to the audience.  I think it is the height of inconsideration for threads that ask for help from a specific member and includes the members private name in the title of the thread, those types should use the PM function.

Duely noted, however you seem too upset over someone calling someone by their first name.  It's the posters' choices, not someone else's (besides possibly a mod or admin) to make.

Call me whatever you want.  My name is in my sig, or call me by my screen name.

    Here is my point.

I am not griping, I am not going overboard, I did not miss my snacktime, nor am I hostile, I am not upset.   I am pointing out that the forum is more than a one on one conversation and when it gets to a personal level, the forum loses.

Now the above statement is addressing the forum and not one individual per se.  Isn't that statement better than writing
Nicole, I am not griping.  Joyce, I am not going overboard.  Tina I did not miss snacktime.  Ed, I am not being hostile.  Lynn, I am not upset.

I like being called by my name....I used to remind everyone all the time that Jaime made me a nice sig with my NAME in it...then I finally just gave up.  When I reference Anne, I try to remember to put (spiritdogs) in there too.....I can see how others might have difficulty knowing who some of us are talking about tho.

And I can't make the quote thing work correctly either.....

A college mate from 23 years ago had the last name Head. When you called his family's house and asked for the Head of the household the reply was "which one?"[8|]

I am reminded of one of the 007 movies.  I forget which one.  Anyway, nurse Goodhead.  Can you imagine?

I went to school with a girl named Patty Butt.

DPU, there is too much activity on this forum for anyone to keep up on all the discussions (unless you dont have a life outside of idog),,,if there is a discussion that your interested in, start at the beginning and you wont have a problem knowing who is who. And for that matter, you do not need to know the context of every single quote unless maybe it's a controversial conversation. You do not need to know what the heck Ed and Ron are talking about in this thread, because unless your interested in books your not going to want to join in anyhow. Just skip the posts your not intersted in, it's not a life or death situation here to know everything that's going on. I think for some reason your just trying to bring this thread down, you've stated your point and we've all noted that you've said it. We may not agree with you but we respect your ability to have a view on it, now please, for the sake of this thread,,,please just drop it.

I think everyone on this forum will agree that perseverence is a required quality to be a good dog trainer and taking care of fosters.  Now what is the smiley icon that shows that I am hurt and crying from the last post.

That would be a GREAT feature to have back (hint, hint[;)]).

    AMEN!

OTOH, a lot of posters have taken to putting their name in their sig, which is very helpful.

Allow me to be the hind of a donkey, here.

We are a pack. When a new dog comes to the pack, it assimilates into the pack. So, when I got confused as to using a real name opposed to a screen name, I would re-read and, eventually, make the connection.

Many here will click on the profile.

What I'm trying to say is that you may have a long wait if you are expecting everyone to shift to just using screen names.

As for my handle being ron2, I've explained it more than once that there used to be another ron in the forum, hence ron2. To worry that there is a 2 in my handle is either too much worrying or you're just having fun to make it seem like a problem.

If my last name was Butt, I would hope that my first name is Nice.
