I got Grady from a rescue where he was called "Buddy".  He was born in Arkansas & eventually was flown to PA & into my arms.  DH & I were trying to think of kind of southern type names.  Since he was a rescue & I hated the name  "Buddy" we changed his name to Grady.
    Nicknames:
    Grady Grade
    Grade
    Wiggle Butt
    Groedrick
    Groedy
    Groedrick Von Longswamp
    Baby Boy
    My Boy

Aspen is another rescue.  His former name was ESPN.  That is NO name for a Papillon...*gak*.  I changed his name to Aspen because it sounded close to ESPN & since he was 5.5 y/o I didn't want to confuse him too badly.
    Nicknames:
    Princess
    Princess Aspina
    Aspina
    Aspy
    Mr. Bunny Toes
    Poopy Butt

Calli McSpriggon but I call her Calli.  She is a dog originally bred in Scotland and spriggons are tiny elves who are full of mischeif which she was from the beginning so I added the Mc to the front of spriggon and there you have it!!!

My dogs' names vary....Bizzie came named and is WW Keep N Bizzie (good for a border collie, eh?) and her son is Le'A's Dapper Dan Man (aka Dan-good bc name as well).  My PON is Sinclair's It Had to Be Ewe (aka Haddie-named because I HAD to have her!) and my papillon is Z-Elite House Elf at Le'A (aka Dobby because of his enormous ears). They have lots of different versions:

    Bizzie, Bizzizzi, Bizziedog, Beezers
Dan, Dan the Man, Lt. Dan (ala Forest Gump), Goober Head, Doofus Boy
Haddie, Haddie the Baddie, Haddie Mae, Haddie Addie
Dobby, Bad Dobby, No Dobby, Quiet Dobby, Dobby Dude

    It's an interesting assortment!

Max 's full name is Maximum, and that is the name of our boat. Yes, we happened to be looking out the kitchen window in the direction of the boat when we were brain storming =).
Buddy isn't too hard! I pulled him up into the car when he was a pup and said, "C'mere bud," The name stuck.
Striker is Striker because my sisters are soccer obsessed and insisted that his name had something to do with soccer. Since he is a speedy lil devil, it's Striker.

We wanted a Japanese name for Tojo, so we named him after Hideki Tojo, the leader of Japan during WWII. Our kitty is named Hester Jiskoot after a professor at the local university. My husband and I both took a class taught by her and we just liked her for some reason, plus we liked the name Hester.

Indy was named by his breeder- his sire is named Harrison, so his litter is all named after Harrison Ford movies. It just fit too well to change it.

Wings just wanted to be called that. Honestly! It just came out of my mouth when I was talking to someone on the way home with her when I told her to get her nose out of that bag of dog food now or ELSE. She was a white-factored sable and when she was grown, she had a white patch, unconnected to the white collar, right over her shoulder blades.

Mal is named after Malcolm Reynolds, one of the main characters on the short-lived Joss Whedon sci fi show Firefly. His litter theme was science fiction. Still haven't decided on a registered name. (Going back and forth between Tairis Into The Black, Tairis Big Damn Hero, and Tairis Can't Take The Sky). Oddly enough, I did NOT know there was another smooth-collie-Malcolm on the board- it's apparently a very popular smooth collie name, LOL....

Sally--a pregnant friend had considered this name but then decided against it for her daughter.  I liked it so I stole it for the dog.  It fits her though--she looks like a "Sally" IMHO.

Jack--he was named for the character in the Tim Burton movie "Nightmare Before Christmas."  The main female character's name is Sally, and the main male character (the Pumpkin King) is "Jack."
