Dog poop on my lawn

So my neighbor confronts me this morning saying that he found poop on his lawn, I told him that it's not my dogs since I always pick up. Then this afternoon I find some huge pieces of dong on my grass. So obviously there's an irresponsible dog owner in my neighborhood that's not scooping up after their pet. Aside from staking out, mounting a camera, or other drastic actions what are some of my options?

Get a sign? Is there something I can spray on the grass to keep dogs off? Please advise.

I live in an area where apparently folks open their doors, allow their dogs to go out and wander off unattended...not having so much as a clue that their darlings are sleuthing around the neighborhood, pooping up a crap storm (maybe they do actually have a clue and don't really care...who knows). Maybe they are thinking, "hmmm...we've got such clean property, and we never seem to be stepping in poop."

There are at least three that I am aware of. Unless the neighborhood dogs can read signs, I'm defeated.

One would assume that it is a safe product for pets (and people, children, wildlife and the environment)...as it is being used around and for pets but I would need to research that more for my own comfort.

Our property is too large for that type of option anyway.

Maybe talk to your neighbors, and see if they can watch their dogs and be responsible. If not, their lawn's always available for a good pit stop [

Oh, that is a good one. I can't let my DH see it or we'll have 2 or 3 out front. We tacked a similar one up to our sideyard fence and it did help. We live on a corner with a large planter area on the other side of our fence. ALL the neighbors would walk their dogs right to there and then stand there and let them do their business. The worst part was my dogs were going nutso on the other side - idiots! [:@]

i am a proponent of keeping a shovel close by and watching out the window. flinging poop at the offending owner usually works wonders.

Dogsigns.com has signs that you can order with any breed on them. So, if you have a neighbor whose Poodle or Papillon (not blaming anyone here, just opting for alliteration) is pooping on your lawn, you can make the hint really obvious. [8|][

Put up a sign that warns of hazardous chemicals/lawn treatment! That should keep them off. Unless you have an unleashed dog problem..Then you are going to have to stand guard I guess.

We used to have a neighbor just like that - although she (and her dog) were really nice, it bugged the heck out of me that she'd just open the front door and let him out to go poop on whatever lawn he chose - especially since the park w/trash cans is right at the end of our street less than 1/2 block away. I asked her once why he didn't go in the back yard and she told me he "didn't like" to go in his own yard. Hello!!! All my dogs were always housetrained TO THE BACK YARD and that's where they always went. I would never even think of opening the front door and just letting a dog out.

I have a neighbor like that too. They have a huge yellow lab and I guess because their backyard really doesn't have any grassy area, all concrete and swimming pool, they trained him to go out front. How nasty for anyone coming to visit them or the poor gardeners.
