I will ask for back up on this but I do think BC's/Herding dogs can have issues with resource guarding as well if not trained otherwise, due to their herding heritage...perhaps spiritdogs, dogslyfe, or one of the other BC knowledgeable folks can help out with that. I saw in your sig the dog is partly BC...

We believe that our Loki is either smooth coated BC, or some BC mix...his happy pic doesn't do his BC-ishness justice. But yes, I will definitely agree with Gina in saying that BCs definitely have issues with resource guarding. Food is  abig one in our house. We don't have children, so I can't really add any more suggestions...Just wanted to add a little input!

Thanks so much yall for all of your advice...we do have two baby gates up already for Sara to keep her out of her brothers room (door doesnt latch properly) and out of the bathroom...we have a laundry room where i can put Tink when its time for her to eat...i dunno why I thought food needed to be out for her at all times...i should be feeding her how often 3-4 times a day? But leave the water out all the time? (Lord knows she gets her share of treats from Sara dropping bits of food when shes eating, so shes NOT going to starve lol)

    Thanks so much guys!!

Lol...I fed my 6-8 WEEK old pups that much. 4 month old pups should be fine fed 2 times a day.

She isn't a tiny toy pup that's going to get hypoglycemic from not eating a little constantly. I think you'll do fine with 2wice. Also bear in mind that housebreaking is easiest when you control water access and intake some. Of course if she's already got that down there's no issue there [;)]

I have nothing to add to others suggestions...only want to say that that is the most adorable picture!

You could always try the dreaded NAUGHTY CHAIR.  I started using a NC for the Poppet when she was around that age, and for the same reason (well, the cats' food and water).  I'd put her up on the chair for one minute, telling her why she's there, then gaze over the top of her head until the minutes up, not looking at her.  Then, tell her why she was there again and pop her off to go play.

They really can be little stinkers, can't they?

Yes, the can.  And, the dog that is safe with its kibble, may decide to guard a "special" thing, food or toy.  Keep babies off the floor with dogs and dogs off the couch with babies.  Most bites to children are face bites, because someone let the baby be at the dog's level and too close for comfort - preventable in most cases.  Have your baby pat the dog while you are right there, and when there are no resources present.
Good books, so that you won't accidentally place either your baby or your dog in a dangerous position:
    "Raising Kids and Puppies Together"
    "Childproofing Your Dog"
If you have to get only one, buy the first one.
