Does your dog sleep with you?

yeah, that's a question for everyone... does your dog sleep with you? do you permit your dog to lay on the bed?
generally, i permit my dog to get on the bed, he's also sleeping with me and i don't see anything awful in it. how about you?

Coal likes to get on the bed to cuddle for a bit but Casey is the only one that will sleep all night in the bed.  The new foster Sully loves the bed too...  its kinda intresting... 3 big dogs and me in a double bed...  not the most confortable night for me...lol...

Brown sleeps with me when Brett isn't home. Occassionally, Grey will jump in too, but Grey really enjoys his own space so he prefers his bed in the corner. Tar sleeps in his crate next to our bed. The one time I let him sleep with me, he was in my face the whole night. [:D]

    Nope!
Our last female greyhound was totally possessive of the bed and the couch. The male grey never once went on either because of her. Even our cats were weary.  A few months before we got JJ,  a greyhound was returned to the rescue I volunteer with because he bit a child who was trying to come up on the couch to sit.  He had to be returned and stayed at the kennel for another 5 months.[&o]

I decided after that that there are no dogs on the bed or couch.  They are for humans and kitties only.  [:D]

But don#%92t feel sorry for them…they have about 6 dog beds throughout the house and the ones in the bedroom are super comfortable,  very expensive beds…they LOVE sleeping in them! [;)]

My dogs are allowed on the bed so long as they *first* know the following: sit, lie down, wait, leave it, come.  Then, I know that I can communicate sufficiently that they understand that bed privileges are given because the human leader said so, but can just as easily be taken away.
The only one of my dogs that really likes to sleep up on the bed is Sequoyah. Sioux prefers her crate, Maska likes the couch, and Fergie has her little corner of the universe in the back of the linen closet. [:)]

Rory asks permission to get on the bed with the saddest "uggghh" noise accompanied by droopy eyes, she knows she has to wait until I pull the blanket at the foot of the bed up. I wish she'd cuddle up by the top so I could hold her but she actually preffers to be at our feet. She stays on her throw blanket too. Sometimes in the middle of the night she'll go lay on the couch becasue she gets too hot or crowded.
I hear its not a good idea to let your dog sleep on the bed if you are ever going to be expecting a new baby that would result in kicking the dog off of the bed when the baby arrives. My husband and I actually have discussed this (we are newlyweds) and came to the conclusion that regardless of Rory we wouldnt want a baby sleeping with us and prefer Rory.
I hope that dosnt sound cruel to any of you but his sister has gone through this dilema recently. With the baby in the room you cant stay awake late, do "adult stuff", or whatever else. My hubby likes to turn on the ligth and read sometimes and if it bothers poor ole Rory then ohwell. But if it was the baby he was bothering then I wouldnt be able to sleep through it.

Yes.  KayCee has slept in the bed since she came out of the playpen at about 4 months.(she is now 7). Honey starts out on the foot of the bed, but then goes to the bathroom.  however she is always back on the foot of the bed when i wake up.  She was a year old when we adopted her but she felt at home right from the start.

Buck is almost 12 and he has his own room, one of the spare bedrooms in the front of the house.  With hubby on the road 2-4 weeks at time, I ust feel safter with Buck in that room so he can let me know if anything/anyone comes into the yard at night.  Back in the spring we bought a new Sealy mattress for "his bed", which he does give up when we have company.

We've had no problems with dogs in bed, even when my husband broke his leg and we had to banish them from the bed while we were in it 100%. They both got the picture and complied. They sit at the side of the bed and wait if they want to come up, and if it's okay I pat the bed and they come up and immediately curl up and snooze. If it's not okay I either ignore them or tell them to "go home" and they go back to their crates or find a spot somewhere else in the house.

They're both kind of prima donnas about their personal comfort though and the bed is usually to crowded for them to be really comfy, so their visits with us up there are normally not long. If they want to get up earlier than us though, a sure way to get them to sleep in is allow them up on to the bed. They'd sleep till noon when in bed with us.

No its unhygenic!! That is what his bed is for, for him to sleep on.

Mine sleep with me when I'm here alone and they are both major bed hogs and usually we are joined by at least 2 or 3 cats.

There's isn't really enough room on my double bed for me, DH, and Tojo, but sometimes he manages to find room and if one of us gets up before the other, he definitely will jump on. He also naps on the bed during the day.
