Docking, ear cropping?

GSDs aren't docked because a dog with proper tail carriage carries his tail low or barely at the horizontal.  A dog with high tail set and carriage over the level of horizontal is severely penalized for that reason.  A Tail carried low is harder to grab, and thus, no need to dock.

Tail carriage of undocked Dobes and Rotts has usually been well beyond the horizontal, much like the carriage of a Coonhound or Bloodhound.  Easy to grab

That's okay though, everybody has their own opinion...Mine is that God created everything how everything was supposed to look...And the person who raised the point about how if some countries have labelled it cruelty then you should really have a closer look at it...excellent point.

Are you referrng to domestic dogs?  The person who raised the point about how if some countries have labelled it cruelty...The person's pet is a dog without a tail...How did it get that way, by God?

Hmmm DPU, I'm not sure you understood what I said. I was making two points...1) I think God made dogs how they are supposed to be and therefore, IMO, they don't need to have their tails docked and their ears cropped. The second point I made was that I agreed with the poster who said that if some countries have actually gone so far as to lable it as cruelty to animals, then one should definitely take a good look at it. I'm not sure what you were implying by saying ".The person's pet is a dog without a tail...How did it get that way, by God?"...did you mean that person had a dog with a docked tail? Because if that's the case...well, lol, I wasn't trying to talk about the poster's dog I was just saying the person made a good point.

Anyways...I think there are obvious pro's and con's for both sides. It's great to see what other people think about it. [:)] Thank you guys for posting!

Actually, people made dogs how they are, by selective breeding. God made wolves.

Mmm [&:], everybody disagrees with me on those comments so I'm not going to keep going on about it or it'll become some sort of religious argument! I stated my opinion...I'm going to stop now.

Seriously, dogs aren't the way they started out. They weren't designed to AKC standards. That's human intervention. Dogs were originally earthy colored, double coated, prick eared, leggy things.

Black dogs with super short hair, floppy ears, and tan markings would not exist if it were not for human beings intervening and choosing which dogs they wanted to breed together.

I understand that, but if one felt the way I did (religiously) then one would believe that God had His hand on all of this and it went according to His plan, etc. But, like I said, I don't really want to get into a religious argument with anybody on a thread I made about ear cropping and tail docking!!
People posted their opinions and I'm grateful because I'm rather on the fence about this issue. Thanks again all who posted [:D]

To the OP- it'll be almost impossible for you to get a non docked dobe in the US.  If you want to show a dobe in the US it is basically required for you to crop your dogs ears as well.  If the dog is a pet, then it'd be up to you.

Avoiding cropping and docking morality and just answering the original question.
