We are a multiple dog/breed household (Am Staffs and Frenchies) and have no problems with walking them together.
I do have to say that there are four of us and we all are involved to make sure the dogs get personal one on one attention and exercise as well as group exercise.

It is nothing for me to walk 3 frenchies or Dustin to walk 3 Am Staffs or a combination of both. Bill and Dana limit themselves to 2 dogs at a time but they aren't the alphas in the house either...LOL! We have 3+ acres where we can and the Lehigh Gorge state park is less then a mile from our house where we walk and play with our dogs often so they don't get bored on our property.

I also prefer two/three leads instead of the coupler, it allows me to make a correction if needed on one dog instead of both which sends mixed signals to the good dog or to let a faster paced dog get out ahead. When I was showing Markie and Honey at the same time they were always walked together and she being the smaller dog was always in the lead. She's make a good lead dog on a sled team...LOL!

Thanks for all the feedback everyone!

Glenda- That's what I was thinking about walking more than 2 dogs at a time, that it would be more of a pack and harder to control. Snakes- eek! I'm reeeaally scared of snakes! I'm terrified of coming across one. [:o] As far as taking them into town once a week or so, that's pretty much what I was thinking, that people probably alternate who goes for walks and it doesn't happen everyday since you have a yard to exercise them. Makes sense.

Hollysmom- yeah you do have to love those lazy Bulldogs, just my style! [;)]

Jaime- That's really good info about using a coupler. I was actually wondering how that would work if one was lagging ahead or behind.... I think what I'll do with Cinnabun and Gingerbread is walk them with two leashes until (if) I can get them to consistently walk at the same pace together. Right now I'm still walking them separately because Cinnabun is still getting the basics down and I need to work with him one on one. Our walks right now are sloooow because he's so tiny and I let him stop and sniff stuff. Just going around the block takes forever! lol I'll be glad when he's a little older and can keep up a slightly faster pace.

Btw, that's a really cute pic of your two Amstaffs out on a walk together!

I tried using the coupler but when you have dogs who don't move at the same pace/speed it is hard to use. Dogs who have a little attitude towards the other or another strange dog also are a problem and with the coupler you correct both.

The leads really do work well. I'd suggest that start small with the two dogs. Put them on the leads and walk a short distance, 20-50 feet and return back to the start. Each time going further. It will give the dogs the experience to travel together and you the confidence that it can be done. If you find you have a problem you are in a familiar area where you have the best control over the situation.
I'd never suggest getting in the car and trying this some place away from home. Build all three of you up to it and you'll know when you and the dogs are ready for the outside world.
Good luck, I'd love to hear how it works for you when you start.

Thanks for the compliments on the picture, that was last year Markie and his mother Faith on the Fourth of July

Recently DH and I have been walking the dogs in the field behind our house each morning. Shaq is happy sniffing along, and peeing. It's a short walk, then we come home, drop Shaq off, and go on a long power walk with Marley only. Marley is much better by herself, and Shaq is an perfect gentleman with or without Marley.

Last week I walked both of the dogs by myself. I don't walk them together by myself very often, but they did great! For some reason they must sense I am weaker then DH, and they really tune into my voice commands. I was so proud of them!

I have two very big dogs and I walk them together every day.  I personally won't go more than this, because if my boys really wanted to they could pull me off my feet.  They are both very good on leash.  I have not had any problems with either one.  I set the pace and my dogs know this, so they don't try to stop and sniff everything.  It really comes down to personally decision and what YOU can handle.  How ever many you decide to walk in the furture, I would suggest walking them all at the same time.  Dogs are pack animals and the pack all walk together.
