Glenda, sending good vibes your way for you and DH.  My friend's husband had some chest pain early this summer, and he had the cath procedure with plans for a stent.  It turns out the blockage was in an area that a stent wouldn't help beyond a short limited time, so he had bypass surgery.  It was all a shock to him - he's under 45, not a smoker, in good health otherwise.  But, like your DH, he had some warning signs that allowed him to get the surgery he needed.  He came through with flying colors, was on the golf course about 2 months later, and I saw him just the other night for the first time since surgery, and he looks terrific, feels great.

It's easy for me to say that your husband should keep a positive attitude (if it were me, I'd be a worried wreck, too).  But, it's remarkable what the cardiac procedures can do nowadays, and they're so common that I've heard it said that they're less risky than some "easier sounding" procedures.  We have 3 friends who've gone through such things (stents and/or bypass) and all feel 100% better after the fact.  Again, the awesome thing is that you had some warning signs.  Sometimes that's not the case.

Best wishes to both of you - and keep us posted.

Glenda - you have our prayers and good wishes here.

Tell DH he will be fine (not that it will stop the worry)!  I had v-tach during my pregnancy and they went in on my catherization to test and "fry" a piece of my heart while under light sedation.  Tell him I would trade for just a piece of plastic inserted any day LOL!  That was ten years ago and all is well.  Things have only improved/advanced since then.

We are here for both of you when needed.

    Hi Glenda
This is your old Merced stomping grounds buddy, I ask that the lord place a hedge of protection around and about your husband, and he guide the hands of the surgeons aiding your husband in his path of being healthy, and to allow him the peace of mind that comes from the peace of a loving God.
Bless you Glenda for being such a caring and loving women.

Glenda - i had a stent put in.  It really wasn't bad at all.  I had never been "put to sleep" before.  I wasn't totally out out of it - they talked to me during most of the procedure .  But - I was sooooo comfortable. Tell him not to worry.

Glenda, Gypys' breeder's DH had a stent put in a couple of years ago.  He is still very much with us!  I will be lighting candles for your DH.

Glenda, good thoughts and prayers coming your way.  Back on Feb. of '98 my DH had some symptoms - which fortunately, he recognized right away because he deals with disability cases. He went in for the cath and about 4 days later was having a quadruple by-pass.  It all happened so fast, we didn't really have much time to think about it or stress over it. Everything went absolutely fine and we were especially relieved to realize he was having this done in one of the top 100 hospitals in the US for this procedure. These procedures seem so major to us, but to the doctors who do them they're so routine - they can almost do it *assembly line*.  Keep us posted, and we'll keep the good vibes coming.
