You guys may be on to something, at least part of it. He loved Jack almost as much as I did... he was the one who got Jack for me. We'd had him for six years.
We talked today about it a little. He says he just thought I may be happier with a dauchsund... something to remind me of Jack, and he mentioned how smart Jack was and how much that dog loved me. So, I realized somethingas being fact. It's not that she's dumb, it's that she's a baby. He remembers Jack being a mature, well trainded, very babied, family member. He knew, in my mind, there was no limit for the dog.... I also think he doesn't realize that now we have a child. I can't afford to pay $30 for a collar for Molly, and still do what I want for our daughter.
He "thought" that since I haven't babied Molly like I did Jack that I really wasn't happy with her. And since I was happy with her, he wasn't and wouldn't allow himself to start bonding for fear I'd decide later on to find her a new home. When, in actuality, our life and lifestyle has changed. I do love Molly, not as much as I did Jack, but that will take time. I have other priorities now. Family, private school, etc... must come before the expensive goodies for the puppy.
I think he's just confused.
