Oh no guys, Im bad bad bad...

Browsing Craigslist, came across this gorgeous gorgeous pup.

    I just cannot help myself,
There is something about her that just pulled me in.
I have to talk to boyfriend and landlord about her.  I cannot stop myself!

Just too pretty. She looks sweeter than tupelo honey. Makes me think of the Van Morrison song.

"She's as sweet as Tupelo Honey.
She's an angel in the first degree..."

Ohman Ron, I know!  I had to email about her, and shes still available.  I have resisted a second dog for a few months, but I don't know if I can withstand the cuteness factor!

She's a cutie for sure and as the former owner of a boxer/pit I can attest that they are great dogs.

However -- to give you a shot of reality, please think of a few things:

    1.  This little girl is already being given up by someone who didn't think far enough ahead.  I hate to see someone claim "financial crisis" as a reason for giving up a dog -- that means they didn't think it thru when they TOOK the dog.  It's more than just food and water -- someone has to vet the dog AND

    2.  You have to be able to provide renters/homeowner's insurance that will cover ALL your pets.  I see you are in NY city so I know this is an issue up there.  Insuring one dog that is unfortunately categorized as a 'dangerous dog' or 'mix' of that can be expensive, but two can be something else.

What if?? What if your landlord suddenly *requires* it when they haven't before (you should have it ANYway) -- will you be able to manage it??

    3.  Exercise --she's a very young puppy of a mix of two breeds that almost DEFINE :"play" -- those eyes would drag anybuddy in ... but can you truly see to her exercise needs and work or whatever?  If you read between the lines of what this woman says who is giving her up, the dog is requiring more attention and time than she can manage.  Likely the pup isn't housetrained yet (there's no mention of it!!!) and likely it's because the dog is crated too long while the owner is trying to work and/or find work.

I don't blame you for being drawn to her -- she IS adorable.  I just don't want to see the dog fail again in another home.

My Ms. Socks was the bestest girl on the planet -- a boxer pit, particularly as they mature, really want nothing better than to be 'with' you, lay by your feet and adore you, and have you play with them.  That doesn't seem like a lot to ask, but it's hard sometime to ground yourself in the reality that altho we may want them, CAN we handle the extra responsibility for the next 15 years.

Good luck.  I don't know you at all, so please don't think I'm making snap judgments about you or your ability to care for the dog.  Just playing devil's advocate here.

Even though I have 3 dogs, I still look at ads for puppies all the time.  My fiancee thinks that I'm crazy [;)]

Believe me, I know everything involved.  Hence the title "Im bad bad bad." LoL.

I have confidence that we could swing having a puppy.  I don't know that we will actually adopt her, but the possibility is there.

I am very familiar with pit bulls, and am aware of everything that goes along with them.  We own one already.  I am an active advocate for the breed, fully aware of their exercise needs, in tune to their temperaments with humans and dogs alike, and know full well of all the extra responibilities that go along with owning them.  As a matter of fact, Im not sure I would ever own another breed (although I do love frenchies! [:D])

This is something we will definitely think through, and in a sense, we have been thinking it through for quite sometime, as the possibility of getting a second dog has been thrown around for months.

Thank you for your concern and all your suggestions.

She's definitely approaching critical cuteness and I'm doing nothing to sway you from your desire. Someone else can always list reasons why you shouldn't but a life saved is immeasurable.

    I agree..... eeek!

I feel amused that they say a three month old puppy "has been raised with children". She hasn't been raised, LOL. She's still a baby!

She is absolutely beautiful! That's the sweetest little face.

I know, I chuckled when I read that.
I have been in contact with the current owner, and have been asking a ton of questions about the pup.  I am actually impressed, as whenever I email anyone from craigslist about anything, with a lot of questions, I never get a response.... They just wanna get rid of whatever it is (furniture, animals, doesn't matter) the easiest way possible.  But this person is different.

Being that cute should be illegal!  ADORABLE!!!

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Just imagine the sweet face laying in your lap with those soft eyes looking up at you, every once in a while licking the back of your hand. Imagine how that tail wags when you grab the leash and collar.

I'm just plain mean. I should stop.
