Hey I just got an idea - if its dumb I can handle it lol[;)]

We could all decide to read a book, whether some of us already have or not... we could make a list, read them at the same time, then talk about them like a book club thing.  Ive never been in one or anything but love to read and love to discuss.  [&:]

I'd love to do that but I don't know if I could.  I go for months where I just have no time to read at all.  Then all of a sudden I will read a book in 3 days.

Jean - that is a great site, thanks for sharing it with us!

I also agree that a book review on here would be fun...however, I agree that I may have difficulty keeping up with the schedule due to my own commitments. But I say feel free to start a thread about any book - whether you have read it, or want to read it, and get others' opinions!

I agree with everyone who said The Five People You Meet in Heaven

    Not really influential, but...
The Harry Potter series are the most exciting books I've read...they really hook you in and you just want to keep reading.

I am reading the Chronicles of Narnia now.  I love them!

Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul

I love  James Herriot books too.  I love the stories about animals that he tells!

    Atlas Shrugged or The Fountainhead

I've read both, which seemed to have similar themes. It was interesting as an outsider's view of capitalism. The heros were all about making gobs of their own money and then living like spartans. But we do see in our world today the effects of what she forecasted. As more and more mediocrity is promoted to levels of importance, the basic services are crumbling.

I did a high school book report on 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance."

I've read everything ever written by Robert A. Heinlein (science fiction.)

"The End of Physics" by David Lindley was neat. It shows the free-for-all craziness of people pursuing a unified field theory in particle physics and quantum mechanics.

I like books that force me to truly examine my own emotions/reactions.  So...(apologies, I can't remember all of the authors and my net connection is being weird, so can't look them up.)

    The Inner Tao of Healing
    She Said Yes
100 Ways to Simplify Your Life

I know, their not real profound or anything, but I don't do much reading in the serious book department.

    For books I just like:
The Redwall Series by Brian Jaques is one of my favs; I just finished Salamandastron and The Bellmaker
Battletech/ Mechwarrior Series (various authors), my favorite being Path of Glory

For dogs, I found The Other End of the Leash to be touching... I cried and laughed while reading it. Culture Clash has profoundly changed the way I view Maddi's behavior.

One of the books that has affected me the most, though, is A Sand County Almanac, with sketches here and there by Aldo Leopold. It really makes you think about the way we treat animals, plants, and our enviroment.
