I've been getting them also. Been getting a few from a lot of companies,,,or should say PRETEND companies. I even got a couple from Chase bank,,,in fact I got one a couple of days ago. AOL is good about catching some of these now,, they warn you about phishing.
No one knows you have a Paypal account. What these scammers do is send out thousands (if not millions) of these emails because enough of a percentage of people who DO have Paypal accounts might fall for it.
Some scams are just there to collect all your personal information and it doesn't matter if you have an account. They just want to steal your identity.[

I have been getting literally hundreds of emails from Alaska USA Bank. I don't have an account there. The scammers are just hitting any email address they know is from Alaska and hoping to hook people who do go to that bank.
I repeat: NO financial institution sends emails alerting you to fraud, mischarged funds, mistakes, etc. If someone calls you on the phone, tell them you'll call them back at the bank. Don't ever deal with stuff like that on the phone or the internet unless you KNOW who you are talking to. Better yet, just go to the institution in question and deal with it in person.
