I usually put it up when it's almost finished and leave it for a few days so the little flaws in it start annoying me and then I know what to fix when I go to finish it off. Unfortunately, I haven't finished a pic in 6 months, which is some kind of record resulting in me going semi-insane with creative back-up. So my last pic from 6 months ago is still up, whose flaws I now know intimitately. It's on DA, for those deviant fans, but I won't inflict the general community with my weird gryphon/transforming art.
