Diet Soda and weight loss

As far as Splenda goes, can't have it.  It upsets my tummy.  I'll leave it at that.
I am a Coke Zero fiend. No Splenda in that.

Yes, I was one of those who was pretty much required to eat everything on my plate, which I attribute to fighting the battle of the bulge throughout my life.

That said, I don't require my children to eat everything on their plate--but as Joyce mentioned, I tell them that if they are not going to eat their dinner, then the only suitable substitute is a bowl of cereal.  Something like Cheerios or Raisin Bran, not sweet stuff.  Luckily, they like those types of cereals so there's no battles there.

I too grew up with the "eat it all on plate" philosophy and blame it 'somewhat' for my weight problems (the rest of the blame is mine... I love good food and hate exercise).  The only food rule I gave my DD was if she put something on her plate she had to eat it all...if someone else dished it out she only had to try it.
