GOOD BYE! Yes, you heard me, GOOD BYE! (HP spoiler inside)

Until I have finished the copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that is RIGHT NOW on my desk next to me!

You're a tease.  [sm=lame.gif]   Of course my first thought, after the last few weeks, was "Oh crap."

Let us know what happens.  Just be sure to put ***SPOILERS*** in your header for those who don't want to know early.  (I'm the type that always reads the end of a book before getting to the middle.)

Dang, I had my hopes up, only to be dashed on the rocks of reality.[;)]

You're a tease but the brit accent helps you get away with it.[:D]

    ETA:
I could think of having fun by threatening to leave but I fear that too many people would take me seriously and throw a party, like the monks in "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" when he announces that he is leaving the temple.

BRAT! I still have like 7 hours before I get my hands on it. My brother-in-law went and reserved copies at Barnes and Noble, and went back to sign in today, and they told him 2500 people are signed up to get their books tonight. [sm=eek.gif] That makes me want to throw up. [:'(]

BUT, amazing man he is, he got us in "group A" by going there first thing this morning, so we are in the first group of 50 people to get our books. [sm=dance.gif]

My brother order it on Amazon before it came out and he send the payment before it came out too. So I think it should be in less than a week before we have that book in our hands. But first I have to read the 6th one because I dropped it after the first few chapters because too me it got kind of borring. Oh well just give me three days and I will finish it before my brother gets the 7th one! [:D]

I had planned to hit Wal-Mart tonight and get my copy, but I decided to wait.  That's crazy talk from this Harry Potter obsessed reader, but I don't want it to end.  After that final page is read, I'll no longer have that excitement of what comes next.  Besides, I'm visiting my parents this weekend and can't spend the entire time pouring over the last book (yes, I would do nothing but sit around and read it in a frenzy, just like I did with  book six).  I'd like to devote a huge chunk of time to that, so it can't happen now.  My dad thinks I'm a total loon over the books anyway.  Non-Harry fans are like non-dog people -- they don't "get it."  I pity them.

Edited for hideous errors, some of which probably remain ... LOL ... I'm too tired to care.

For anyone who thinks that "goodbye threads" are stupid, look at all the hits you got - even without a whisper about Harry Potter in the headline. [:D]

    OK look, seriously, guys.

I KNOW that 97% of this board is OBSESSED with Harry Potter so I'll most likely NOT get a truly unbiased opinion. But how good are these books?
    Seriously.
I read all the LOTR books and was bored off my butt through the first half of the first book.
I read Hermann Hesse and Thomas Mann for comfort. The Potter books were suggested to me like...3 years ago because my friend said they were an excellent, comfortable, easier read that was also very entertaining.
The Little Prince is my favorite book of ALL time.
Do you think I'll end up liking them?
Or is the first book so boring that I probably won't make it through the first half?

I haven't gotten the Potter books yet because I have 83499 other books I wanted to get through first.

Sorry agile...I have a sick sense of humour!

Becca - the books are GREAT! You get lost in an entirely different world.

I can imagine. I lived on Middle Earth for like 3 months.
And I was always saying, "Thag you berry much" whenever I thanked someone.
Quite embarrassing now that I think about it.
    D'oh.

Only one way to find out.  Personally, I haven't read any of them, but have listened to all of them.  The guy that reads them does an amazing job!  Very talented.  So I'll do the same with this last one.  Just something to think about next time you have a road trip.

I read the first book back when it first came out and fell in love with it. It's a children's book, but so much more than you would expect. I remember hearing about it when Rosie O'Donnell had her talk show and she was still the "Queen of Nice". She raved about the books.

I haven't read anymore than the first 4 books though. I need to sit down and play serious catch up.

I've also been one of the Harry Potter nerds who goes to see the first showing on the day it is released. [:D] Although I haven't seen the new one and I don't plan on rushing to see it. I don't have the time to do that anymore, but I enjoyed it when I did.

I often think, "Man, if I enjoy these books now as an adult, I can only imagine how much I would have loved them as a kid."

I don't know why, but I assumed the book was going to be hard to find today. I was in the local store and they had tables of them, then went food shopping and they had a big table of them . There seems to be an over abundace of them around here. I am glad I didn't pre-order it, the kids would have waited all day for the mail today when I got it this morning..
