Tee hee...back on topic tho...the books are FUN...and the first one doesn't take long to read at all...go for it!

I guess that I will have to read one to see if I'm interested.

Stacita- I've never watched Star Wars either!

Amanda...I may need to stage an intervention on the SW bomb you just dropped...[sm=blush.gif]

Gina, why does everyone respond that way?  I've just never been interested in SW.  I've never been a big sci-fi person, so I guess that I just don't see the big deal.

    shocking... never seeing star wars....

honestly i only watched star wars (four five and six) because of Harrison Ford... and i only watched the first three because of... [:-] Ewan McGreggor.... if those two hadnt been in the films i wouldnt have bothered.
    Shallow, i am, mm hmm!

and Harry Potter got my interest because i do like the fantasy stuff.... fairies, elves, goblins (my favourite film is labyrinth, and i believe that is where Rowling got the name Hogwart - Hoggle was called "Hogwart" by Sarah, getting his name wrong on purpose)
i think HP films would have been better if they had gotten Jim Henson's guys to help out.... Tim Burton is okayish, but too gothic for me. The Henson team always managed to capture an ethereal look for their films. which is very distinct and fun to just look at lol

We watched the first movie and it was good but not great for us. I can see the attraction but it's just not our taste.

This fits me exactly.. I totally "get it".. I just don't "feel it" if you know what I mean...

Henson is only as good as Jim was, and Jim is gone it shows in their work since...IMO. But again...off topic.

I'd watch the movie personally. Less time and effort. [:D]

I prefer to read, & I'm leaving on vacation Friday, so I should have some extra time.

I've just never been interested in SW.

We are the only two. It was hugely popular when I was 15 or so, but I just didn't feel like seeing it.

I have never seen Star Wars either. It drives my DH nuts.

Amanda...you need to read them. The movies don't cut it. In order to appreciate the complex story and how she weaves everything together, creating an entire world to escape into, they need to be read.
    • Gold Top Dog
I agree with Kate. The movies wouldn't do much for me at all if I hadn't read the books.

Speaking of which, there are massive "spoilers" on the Internet now -- scanned pages and everything. There's even this one site with chapter summaries and all that. I've read a couple, and so far the spoilers are contradictory, so we'll never really know until the last book gets out. So if you don't want to spoiled, stay away from the Internet! [:D] (Truth be told though, great books like HP are more about than knowing what happens in the end.)

I really wanted to like the Harry Potter books. I tried reading it, but hated it. I also didn't like the movies.
I have seen Star Wars, but it isn't my cup of tea.
