If you have a favorite 80's tune

the whole decade..... i'm a freak for Vh1's "I love the 80's" show... as well as "I Love the 70's" ..even though i wasnt born in the 70's... and i only got a small taste of the 80's...but i have a VERY good memory.
So anything by the Police, and Sting after he went solo.... i have every album the man ever did, except for the most recent one.... (didnt have enough cash that day)
I also like the Labyrinth sound track by David Bowie.
um ok lets just say i am also a sound track freak... Breakfast Club in particular.. Wedding Singer... i know its from the 90's, but the music is all 80's.
I cant just name anything in particular except for Hot For Teacher by Van Halen.. OH!! And AC/DC....

Of course i'm noticing that no one is mentioning country music from the 80's..... dont be shy lol, they had some good songs in that genre too... Looking For Love in all the wrong places.... however that may be 70's...
Alabama had some hits too... i'm a fan of the old stuff, i cant stand hardly anything from 2,000s.... its all badly recycled garbage. all been done, and this time its being done badly.

You MIGHT just be my musical soulmate, but I disagree about SOME of today's music. For the most part, yes, it's crap. But there are some VERY talented musicians on some indie labels that put out some rather tasteful music that would blow your socks off.

Thank you guys...I appreciate the input...and it's helped me out quite a bit.

Feel free to keep adding and to discuss music in general, I render this topic OPEN...lmao!

i used to know some british bands back in 2000 -2003.. one of them was called Travis, though they were actually from Scotland. their first couple of albums were VERY good - The Man Who, and The Invisible Band. i dont know if they have any new albums out, i've been too busy to really keep up.
Also one guy no one knows about is Angie Aparo. His Album the American is totally awesome :D if any of you are familiar with Faith Hill and the song Cry a Little, just know that it was Angie's song, not hers.... i used to like Faith Hill, but not after she butchered his song..... she made it far too whiney.. not that it wasnt already a whiney song.. but she took it over the top.
But as for brit bands, oh yeah i'm a fan of them. i used to have a whooooole bunch of friends from the UK and i loved their music. its hard for me to find these days.

...Of course i'm noticing that no one is mentioning country music from the 80's.....

That's because all the good country music came before the '80's.  LOL  OK, some country from the '80s that I liked "Mama He's Crazy" by The Judds.  Actually, pretty much anything by The Judds.
    George Straitt's "The Chair"
Anne Murray's "Could I Have This Dance"
One I absolutey loved- The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Dance Little Jean"
Can't forget Kenny Roger's "Coward of the County" (although I think that came out around '79)

    Alabama had some hits too...

Yeah, their stuff from the '80s was good.  I didn't care for it too much towards the end, tho.

Looking For Love in all the wrong places.... however that may be 70's...

I'm pretty sure that was the mid/late '70s, although I've seen it listed as an '80s song.

I forgot all about Nitty Gritty. i always liked Bojangles when i was a kid..  why? because it mentioned a dog lol
George Strait is the coolest.. i like just about every song he did/does.

The movie came out in the early '80s, but I'm pretty sure the song was out before that.

Yeah, he's a clasic, that's for sure.  And, from what I've heard, a pretty good team roper, too.

Oh, speaking of songs with dogs in them- what about "Feed Jake" by Confederat Railroad?  I think that was an '80s song.

D'OH! How could I forget Morrissey and/or The Smiths????

I STILL love them to this day.

A good ol' laugh at Morrissey every once in a while never hurt anybody. I'm pretty sure that Morrissey laughs at himself.
