I never go to superbowl parties, too many distractions and i cant concentrate on the game, i just stay at home with my wife and thats it, 100% concentration

I went a couple of times to some superbowl parties and i cant even remember watching the game, just like those people that go to a starbucks to "study", wtf?

Yes I agree, minimum distraction from Brian's beautious biceps, and Peyton's prettily imperfect proboscis, is definitely a necessity!

DH & I shall have beer...dip...Lil' smokies, and wings likely...depends what the vultures left at Sam's Club today haha! Mom might be stopping by....we'll have to see!

With 4 boys and a husband, our family has enough for our own party. We buy makings for home made fried cheese sticks, nachos, fried ravioli and tato skins. We call it appetizer for dinner night. I buy root beer for floats also. I am the only drinker in our house, so I do not go out and buy a case of beer.

BTW, my hubby only watches for the commercials. He could care less about the game. If this Vikings ever make it to the Super Bowl, he will then pay attention.

We'll be watching with my SO's family. Half the group are Colts fans, the other half Pats fans [:(], I guess we Patriots will try not to be bitter. I'm always the wacky one that tries to bring semi-healthy snacks to these gatherings... I'm sure the charm is going to wear off that real soon but I'm a stubborn health nut [:D]. I was thinking of making these yummy potato turnovers I found in my low-fat Moosewood cookbook.

Watch for the NFL contest-sponsored one - the concept came from a guy in my town.  I don't know him at all, but he's got a cheering squad around here.  Bummed that I have no Super Bowl parties to go to.  Since the Pat's tanked it, folks are sort of non-plussed by Colts vs Bears.  PLEASE - share your food/stories so I can live vicariously...

We're having several people over here, but first we'll be eating our big meal at church. Everyone's going to be bringing something, so I'm not sure what all we're having. Then for our party we're going to have oyster cracker snacks, chips, salsa, stuff like that. Also cheesecake, Triple Layer Cookie bars, and peanut butter cookies. Other people are bringing drinks and other snacks.

I just told DH about the commercial. I am so not happy that the Colts are in the Super Bowl. I grew up in Baltimore and my father was an editor at the Baltimore Sun. One cannot live in Baltimore when the Colts snuck out to Indianapolis without still getting a bitter taste in the mouth. Not to mention, the out-laws live in Indy now too. Double Bonus there for not liking them. I shall root for the Bears instead.

How do you make your fried cheese sticks?
    Yummy, Yummy.....

    Recipe:
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs
    1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
    2/3 cup all-purpose flour
    1/3 cup cornstarch
1 quart oil for deep frying
1 (16 ounce) package mozzarella cheese sticks

    Directions:

In a small bowl, mix the eggs and water. Mix the bread crumbs and garlic salt in a medium bowl. In another medium bowl, blend the flour and cornstarch. In a large heavy saucepan, heat the oil to 365 degrees. One at a time, coat each mozzarella stick in the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, then in the bread crumbs and finally into the oil. Repeat with the egg mixture and then the bread crumbs. It keeps the mozzie cheese contained.  Fry until golden brown, about 30 seconds. Remove from heat and drain on paper towels.
