    Tattoo

I will be 50, (gawd, can that really be???) on Friday.  Getting my first ever tattoo on Saturday, if I don't weenie out.

ETA:  If this picture thing works, this is very similar to what I am getting, with granddaughter's names.

Oh well I just wondered how they'd do it with all the wrinkles is all...but if you got something like an elephant or like...Margaret Thatcher then it'd actually be an advantage...

Good luck, I have a few.......
My tattoo guy has told me funny stories about guys being worse than women.
Some of them have passed out, and fell out of the chair. Maybe you should wear a safety hat.[;)]

Where are you getting it?  i.e. Shoulder, arm, leg, butt?  [:D

I think you will be fine.  I have 2 on my shoulders and my 2nd one hurt worse (but healed a lot quicker).  One piece of advice, bring someone with you to keep your mind occupied off of the pain.

Upper arm, so it can be covered by a short sleeved shirt.

I sort of suggested that to my wife.  I even went so far as to suggest specifically what she should do to keep my mind off the pain.  For some reason, she seems to be reluctant.  [;)]

Yup, I agree with melindar, it's hard not to focus on the fact that a needle is repeataedly injecting a foreign substance into your body everytime you hear that buzz and feel that sharp pain and burning sensation and . . . have a good time! And stock up on Bacitracin just in case! When my friend and I got ours done our last year of grad school, we had to drive an hour to TX to get it done (were in OK at the time), but by the time we got back we made a beeline to Target and bought like four different kinds of antiseptic and numbing creams and sprays because we were both hurting and starting to burn and itch!

I did think about an elephant, Gina.  But not on my arm.  [;)]

Billy, why does this not surprise me?  Actually when DH finally gets his 1st tattoo I wouldn't be surprised if he suggests the same thing.  I guess you guys all think alike.  [:D]

On a serious note....One thing to buy to use after you get the tattoo (and you can check with your artist) is either A&D ointment (you only use it for a day or two at the most).  If you don't get A&D ointment, I would highly suggest something called Tattoo Goo.  You'll definately need lotion (non-scented) too!

Oh, don't be such a wimp Billy, i fell asleep during my third tattoo!
