Snow at last, snow at last!

Snow at last, snow at last!

No disrespect to Dr. King intended, but I feel (nearly) that jubilant!  Same with the pupsters - as the sun was setting, on New Years Eve at this fairly northern latitude, we finally have some snow coming down.  It snowed for about an hour 2 weeks ago before turning into an all night rain and sleet fest, so this is SO welcome!

Not sure if it is headed WI way, but hoping so for Janice and Rupert - I know they've been jonesing for the white stuff, too!

last i checked i though i was in the northern part of this country, but its been raining for days, in december..where am i?

I know what you mean, Gaylemarie!  It's not that we've NEVER had a brown Christmas here, but usually it had at least snowed a few times and then warmed up. Nothing but rain here the last few weeks - my backyard was an unholy mud pit!  And there's a lake from the normal field of dog play and a moat around a big lilac bush (good for chasin' round, don'tcha know).  Not sure if it's all turned to ice and there's snow on top, but it's definitely, finally white out there!

Enjoy!  We're supposed to have freezing rain tonight changing to a wind swept rain tomorrow.  Still no snow.  It must be a record!

I'm a bit jealous.  I miss the snow sometimes.  I'd like to have a white Christmas, but even when I lived in NY, I didn't have them the last few years.  I couldn't put up with the cold anymore and the long winter season began causing seasonal depression.  I'd wake up in the dark, go to work, come home in the dark; blah!

We'll have to take the dogs on a winter trip, maybe next year, just to see their reaction.  In the mean time we'll keep sweating the winters out in our shorts. [:)]

Puppers went out about 6 times tonight for 20 minutes at a time to romp in the snow - got a few inches.  Went out to play with them for a while and 4 of my neighbors and their two dogs were headed to the park with sleds to run down the (little) hill while somewhere in the misty sky above, fireworks were going off!  We normally can see all the fireworks shows round the cities, being rather central, but I could hear it was a finale and very close, but not see a thing for all the snow and moisture in the air.

    Happy New Year!

Congratulations! We had very little snow for months and were despairing! Right now there is just enough *maybe* to run the showmachine and dog sleds. We feel your snowlessness pain!

Finally, after the last week, we have enough for Sofia to do this:

pooooor youuuuuu, however do you manage?

so it started to sleet shortly after midnight, sounded like gravel blasting the entire side of my house. dh said it was lightening in detroit, kinda weird for winter. im sure he is loving the driving conditions (he came home early to see me yay!).

I hate winter so far.  It's been in the 60s and rainy.  Winter is supposed to be cold, not mild.  Watching the weather forecast is annoying, because they cheerfully say we'll be unseasonably warm for another week.  I only have two more months of winter left, as it will be warming up in March.  No snow then.  Maybe we'll have a "massive" snowfall of five or six inches soon.  [&:]

Why didn't you tell me you wanted snow?  The badsenjis would be more than happy to share all the snow we had here.

Quite nicely, thank you. [;)]   After my last winter up north, wrecking a car on the way to work because the roads hadn't been cleared, and a back breaking winter of shoveling snow every other day, I decided enough was enough.  Besides, I prefer snorkeling to skiing, but I do miss the snowmobile sometimes.

But we did!  We were just the very last to post on your snow-gility pix!  We actually met some badsenjis at dog park last week - a tri and a red and white - wearing their Fido fleeces.  Pofi thought they were great fun because they like running - the three of them were pretty cute together!

Jeano - glad Miss Sofia FINALLY has enough snow to do some burrowing in!  What a great picture!

D'uh.  I see that now.  Would you like to pick up, or shall I mail it?  If you'd like some more that is.

Actually the boyz might be changing their mind about the snow since they could just walk over the fence now.  Or almost.  DH had to shovel snow near the fence.  Now if I take the dogs out I have to stand in that corner to make sure they don't hop over the fence and chase the neighbor's goats.

Yowza - a virtual snow bridge to the forbidden zone - they surely won't want to give THAT up! You've really gotten smacked!

We still don't have any snow yet. And the forecast for the next week is the same....30 to 40 degrees and rainy! We had rain on Christmas, rain on New Years....and more rain is supposed to come. [&:] I want to go sledding sometime, if we ever get snow again! We did have a big snowfall Dec 1, but it all melted by the middle of December. Sigh....
