So what was your favorite gift?

So what was your favorite gift?

Mine was "You Are a Dog, Life Through the Eyes of Man's Best Friend" by Terry Bain. It's the most hilarious book I've read in a long time! It's about how dog's see their lives, trying to explain things to us. It explains why the dog barks at the vacuum cleaner, because it's going, someday, to eat the children and must be driven from the house, it lists the names of everyone in the family, like He Who Lets Me Drink From The Toilet. It's sooo funny !

My new neighbor from across the street brought me a box of satsuma manadarin oranges and a bag of organic apples. [:D]

Oh my husband SOOOO has my number -- but I have to say the 'best' (as in the best 'surprise') was two-fold.

I've been driving David crazy with the Hippo Song ([linkhttp://www.minibite.com/christmas/hippo.htm]http://www.minibite.com/christmas/hippo.htm[/link]) and the FIRST thing I unwrapped was a blue velvet 'hippo'.  *very large grin*

Probably the other not-so-huge- thing I wanted was a CD of Joan Jett's stuff.  I have really diverse musical tastes -- from Bach to ... well, Joan Jett and beyond.  But this is how I stay sane in traffic -- rock 'n roll turned up to the max so the journey home can take as long as it needs to -- I'm happy!!!

I got lots of wonderful things but David's thoughtfulness to ferret out little things he knows I'll like never ceases.

A laser pen for the cat.  Hours of entertainment!

I would have to say it's split between two. My husband remembered a set of really cool bookends that I had seen months ago and went back and picked them up for me. I was really impressed that he even rememberd, so I loved that gift. Calliecritturs, I second the little thoughtful things meaning so much!!

My parents also sent me a Tiffany necklace that they had engraved with my initals. I loved that as well. All in all, it was a great Christmas, aside from the fact that I didn't get to spend it with my parents and brother...that made me a little sad today.

I would say of course the money I got was more than welcome, lol. I also got a really nice sweater.

BUT I'd say my favorite present was the one I gave my DH, his video iPod....he was just SO into it and so tickled...it's great to see grown men acting like wee boys...all delighted like that.

OK, so this is sappy, but my best present didn't come wrapped and with a bow....it was having Mother come back to us and be on the road to recovery.

I got 2 things that just sent me over the edge.  First was a pair of earings I had spied @ my favorite jewlrey store from DH.  He's such a good boy.  The other is a book on dog body language.  It's a fascinaing book but it's also kind of depressing.  I kept finding the pictures of dogs that are stressed or unhappy & they all seemed to fit Grady.  It's kinda like reading the Merck Manual & you have ALL the symptoms they talk about. ~L~  But seriously, I need to help Grady be happier & less stressed.  I'm such a bad mom.

My noise cancelling bose headphones, now I finally can have peace and quiet. Oh and of course to spend time with my awesome family and all the dogs :)

I wasn't really in the mood for Christmas after losing Winnie on thursday, but I'll be sappy too,  and say my favorite gift wasn't even to me. My son gave the mother of their 3 week old daughter an engagement ring for Christmas!  So they will be a family!

this may sound corny as hell, but i really loved spending time with my 4 month old grandson more than anything i got as a gift. i cant say i liked having his parents around because i pretty much hate them.

i have really pretty much been a scrooge this year. but having the little guy around really brought a smile to my face.

Marty - I didn't realize Winnie didn't make it.  I remember you were going to the vet, but I must've missed this.  I'm so very sorry for your loss, especially at this time of the year.  That must've been very hard.

I'm happy that you're going to be gaining a new DIL though - congratulations!

The best of all was a picture of my mom, brother, and sister at my house on my birthday about a month ago, that my BF's gram took and then framed. I cried when I opened the dang thing.

    I'll join the sap crowd.

It's been a really rough year. I sat on my bed last night, watching Emma sleep, and cried. She has NEVER looked better than she does right now. She is thriving. She is in optimal health. She glows with life. That was the best thing that anybody could have done for me. I have seen this dog look so bad, I didn't think I'd still have her when I woke up the next morning. This month, she looks like she's never been sick a day in her life. She's running, and playing, and behaving SO well. She's eating great, and not throwing up, and gaining weight. She hasn't had a seizure in months. Her liver is working perfectly. I could never ask for anything better. And now I'm all teary again[:)]
