Have You Ever Been In Jail?

Yes I have been in Jail, for 2 dui`s in my early twentys, Im in my late fortys now.
first one for 2 days, the second for 30 days because i couldnt afford the fine and classes to.
went back to judge and i asked him to please allow me the 30 days.............he did.
wasnt that bad, some of the women do strange things in there, I just kept to myself.
best diet Ive ever been on, I couldnt believe it when i put my pants on that had been taken from me when stripped, they were so baggy, I must have lost 15 or 20 lbs.
Best walk home I ever had, they booted me out about 5 in the morning, all I heard was , Gutierrez, roll it up.
But I have never been in trouble again.

Nope.  My dad has though, for failing to appear.

A co-worker of DH and I went to jail for throwing a cell phone at his wife and then beating up her 70 yr old father.....

I had to be fingerprinted and photographed for work (I work at the library/for the city) and this is done at the police department.  The photos are done IN the jail.

I have never been in jail for ANY reason.

Among co-workers I have known, several have been in for DUI.

OT Australian trivia: Did you know they have random breath tests in Australia? The police hang out on the side of busy roads at night and randomly pull over people going by to give them a breath test. I was told in the States the cops have to have seen you do something that gave them reasonable suspicion that you might be over the limit. Is that right?

ummm, yes. i know none of you know me that well, but if you did it would come as quite a shock. i was in for 25 days for a probation violation (on probation for the dumbest reason, save that for another day) when i was 16. honestly, i felt like it was a vacation, it was a very interesting experience that i never plan to have again. i had a urinalysis come back positive for thc, so instead of living out the 3 months of probation i got 25 in jail. i was an unruly teenager, but as a parent those days are over, and i honestly don't regret a single day of it. i'm glad i got to experience what it was like to be so careless, i look back at it these days and laugh and wonder how i ever did it, and am glad i got it all out of the way before i became a mother.

Nope. But my dad was, for 4 days when he was 17. Why? He stole a Steppenwolf record from KMart and they wanted to male an example of it. Poor dad! [:D]

Not quite.  We do have roadside sobriety tests, which have been upheld as constitutional, by our Supreme Court.

Visiting and for class.  I was a law enforcement officer for The National Park Service and US Fish and Wildlife Service, so part of the SLETC class was to tour the local jail and get fingerprinted.  I got pulled over late at night once and given the sobriety test and apparently passed well enough because the cops drove me and my friend to his house till morning.  I was just really really tired. Had quite drinking 2 or 3 hours before and taken a nap, but I ran a yellow and the cop was right there waiting on the red.  [8|]  That stop light was notorious for taking FOREVER at 2 am and I just wanted to get home.  It's not like I ran a red... sheesh...

So Billy, any particular reason you wanted to know? Got a "vacation" coming up? [;)]

Or did you just want to sort out the true hard-core among us? I'm polishing my "hard core" medals as I type!

Nothing really.  We were just discussing this the other day at work and I am the only one who has never been to jail.

I've never been IN a jail.  I've been TO a jail to pick up work release inmates when I worked at the shelter, but never been incarcerated.

I've had two speeding tickets, but I still think I was set up[sm=angel.gif]

Nope, not me.  My ex-husband was *this close* once, when we were still married.  He was still in the Navy, at a command function, drunker than all get-out.  Decided to drive himself home - we were stationed at a rural base and lived about 30 miles away.  County mounties pulled him over about 10 miles from home.  Somehow he managed to talk them out of taking him to jail, left my car on the side of the road, had a dispatcher call me to meet them at the "corner store", which was about five miles from our house.  Scared the crap out of me - called around 0100, woke me up out of a dead sleep.  A friend had borrowed our truck, so all I had was the friend's car, which I'd never driven before.  I met them at the corner store - there's my DH in all his glory - dress white uniform with chili from the chili dog he ate all down the front of the shirt.  He was so drunk I could smell it on him from 10 feet away (well, that and the onions from the dog).  I asked where my car was, to which the police politely replied that he was under no circumstances to drive that night.  I said, "I know, but I need to know where my car is while in the presence of someone who'll be able to remember."  I swore I wouldn't let him drive, and took him home.  He was very lucky.  It was right about the time the Navy started really cracking down on DWIs - he could have ended his career that night.
