"Thank Him" (in support of our troops)

IMO, supporting the brave men and women fighting overseas is not a political issue at all. We can support them 100% without supporting the president who sent them there. They are doing a wonderful job and I'm so proud of all of them.

But we (collective we--as in all Americans) also need to talk productively about how to get our brave soldiers home. Whether you support the president or not, the polls show that a majority of our country feels that we should not be over there. And figuring out a way to bring our soldiers home is an ultimate way to support them, because that brings them back to their families and to safety.

So let's not turn on each other on this forum. No one was trying to deny that our soldiers are doing an excellent job and deserve our support.

I support our country and our president, I dont agree with everything he or congress does but I still will support our current elected officials.

We see and here what the media wants us to hear, I have talked with many soldiers as I am sure we all have. They have all said numerous times what we see on tv is not at all what is really going on. Dont believe everything you see on the boob tube.

God speed to our military men and women.

he probably couldn't get elected dog catcher in the town he's from.

Crawford, Texas. I don't think they have an animal control dept.

Oh, Lord help us!! Before anyone suggests that we should support our elected officials, give some thought to who CA has for a governor.[sm=biggrin.gif][sm=rofl.gif][sm=biggrin.gif]

Let me write his campaign slogan for re-election as Gov. of California.

    Are you ready? (drumroll, please...)

    "I'll be back."
    • Gold Top Dog
Ron, the pathetic thing is that he probably WILL be back.  He has all of the big $s and Hollywood behnd him. And you know how Californians are ... if Brad & Angelina say he's a keeper, it's gotta be true. [sm=rofl.gif]

As Heinlein once put it, California is a prime example of democracy in its most rabid form.

As I've said, I support the troops for being the willing, intrepid men and women they are.  It's not the ideal way of life for many, so they deserve our respect.  No, I do not support their *mission* or the administration, and I never will.

Do not tell me who or what I support.

    Easy there killer.

This would really be much easier on everyone if you would actually READ that posts before snarking.  I never told you who you can or cannot support.  All I said is that I don't think this is a good place for negativity.  If you think that a supporting the troops thread is s good place to spew your political beliefs, so be it, but don't expect to not be called on it.

Have any of you actually been to the places where our troops are now? You can talk s$!t all you want about the war and what is going on with the president (my former boss!) But until you have seen what those men and women have been through and are going through....My grandfather told me once "if you dont have anything good to say then don't open your d@#n mouth."
Allof those guys do need everyones support regardless of who is in charge!!!

HKdog, just because you don't agree with my opinion of the president doesn't make MY opinion any less valid.  He's a dork.  And I have serious questions about his mental stability.

That said, I do support the men and women fighting a war that we shouldn't be involved in.  I supported the troops in Viet Nam as well and was ashamed of the way they were treated when they came home....IF they came home.  I lost friends in VN, went to school with girls whose brothers came home in a box.  I didn't support THAT administration either, but by golly I supported those brave troops.

No your opinons are valid, believe me. I got sent to two places I didn't want to be because of that man, I used to be one of those troops and I have seen a lot of people (and friends) go home in less than one piece.  It wasn't directed towards you or anyone else on this board. I just dont like this war is bad this war is this and that and the other thing...Over there it's not a choice if you want to or not want to do or where you want to be...sucks...
Thats now why I live in Hong Kong, I dont like the state of  things where I am from, (Michigan also, but a Yooper) or where it looks to be heading...But that is another post I think.

I don't think we need to go there to know what is going on.  My Uncle who I am very very close to got out of the navy just in time. He was on his way there, if he hadn't of signed off.  He gets very heated when we talk about what is going on. His recent furry, 5 Canadians killed by American bombs. There are things happening there (mistakes) that should not happen.  I once thought George Bush was the man for the job. I was so glad he got elected. Then over th ast few years I've come to see, I don't think he knows what he's doing. I think he's a nice man, even though I never met him. But I think enough is enough. WE will NEVER be out of there. NEVER. I wish to God it wasn't so, but it's such a mess. I am so grateful for the troops and what they are doing. I know that I am not brave enough to do what they have and will do. I thank God for those people, but I do not think Bush knows what to do.

Relax, HKdog. [:)] The troops have all our support.  It's the "Idiot-in-Chief" that we can't get behind. And now there are rumblings that he's thinking of going into Iran. Angel is right - we're never going to get out of the middle east unless and until we get an administration with a little common sense.

The man is a twit thats all he is...I think things would be easier if people just duked it out on their own over their problems with each other.
