"Thank Him" (in support of our troops)

I found this on a site, something for us all to think about:

Thank him, that's all he wants...

Your alarm goes off, you hit the snooze and sleep for another 10 minutes.
He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.
He gets shot at, as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash on your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He walks the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He does not get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for months, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.

You are angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He is told he will be held an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for that night.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own government and remembers why he is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of the men like him.
He hears the gun fire and bombs.

You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the bodies lying around him.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does what he is told.

You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call and write home, sleep, and eat.

You crawl into your bed, with down pillows, and try to get comfortable.
He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be woken by gun fire.

You sit there and judge him, saying the world is a worse place because of men like him.
If only there were more men like him.

If you support your troops, send this to your friends!

All of support the troops, and wish them all a safe and speedy return home before any more young lives are lost, on either side. Most of us do NOT support the war or the ego-maniacal nitwit that put the troops in harms way so he could steal oil.

    Thank you for posting that,audkal.
I am extrememly proud of our brave soldiers.  I am also extremely happy that they have a strong commander-in-chief to follow.
I feel safer at home knowing the war on terror is being fought overseas instead of in my back yard. I am thankful that there are people who are willing to fight to protect my freedoms. I am thankful that Iraq has not turned into another Mogadishu (under our previous President).
And, I have a question.  If this is a war for oil.....why am I not paying less at the gas pumps?
Oh, and one more question....have people actually forgotten what happened on 9-11-01?
Before you attack me---I know, I know.  Hussein is not Bin Laden.  But, he and his followers ARE terrorists, none the less.  And as I recall, President Bush said this is a war on terror, not a war only on Bin Laden.
Fire away---I can take it! (But you won't change my mind [;)])

Hussein is not a terrorist, nor are his followers.    He had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11.    I am quite sure the families and friends of the 250,000 civilians killed in Iraq since the invasion have a quite different view on the "war on terror".   All indications are that the invasion and occupation have actually "spawn[ed] an epidemic of global terrorism that has claimed an estimated 72,265 lives since 2001, most of them Iraqi," not stopped terrorism in any way.  source:  http://news.independent.co.uk/world/politics/article1359854.ece

Iraq is on the brink of civil war, a return to religious fundamentalism in Iraq has severely altered the status of women in Iraqi society, the Taliban has transformed into a kind of super Taliban, etc.

I won't get pulled into this debate again....but, considering that the shrub still has OIL interests, duh??  No windfall profits penalty, no slapping the hands of the oil companies who are raping us.....

    I support our troops.  Period.

I'm not even going to get into what I REALLY think because I'm sure what I REALLY think is going to offend not just YOU but a LOT of people here.
Bush has said this is a war on terror, but his reasoning has changed many times.
And why aren't you paying less for gas at the pump?
hm...are you THAT naive to think that even if we had ALL the oil in the world that we'd be paying LESS for it? Right. Maybe you're not paying less because, oh, let's see...yes! It was Bush who refused to have the high prices inspected. Oil speculators raise the prices for the companies and BAM! That's why you're still paying high prices.
What's next? Justification of the Patriot Act?

Hmmm.  If I'm expected to believe that this war really has to do with terrorism and not oil, I have one question. Why in he** are we bombing Iraq instead of the Saudis?  Weren't the Saudis the real perpetrators of 9/11? Oh! Silly me! I forgot for a minute how close the Saudi royal family and the Bush royal family are.[:@]

Just a quick question.Would it be fair to say that the 2 reasons that the usa goes to war are
1.To justify the vast amount of american tax dollars being spent on weapons
2.To promote/protect thier own financial self interest
If america had experienced 2 world wars on thier own home soil,as europe did, they may not be so eager to engage in war at seemingly every oppertunity!!!! As for the soldiers, yes its terrible they die, but thats what happens to soldiers, its an occupational hazard. Harsh, i know, but its true

I support the men and women who have to fight this illegal war. I feel sorrow and anxiety for the wives and husbands of the soldiers overseas (it's not just men who go over, you know). I feel pity and sadness for the children I know and teach, whose mom or dad are gone for a year in what they can only know is a very, very scary situation.
