Free plane ticket, where should I go?

Free plane ticket, where should I go?

I have a free plane ticket from Southwest Airlines that has to be used before 12/31/06. It's for $300.00. I was originally going to go to New York with my mom, but she just told me that she won't be able to go. So I have to go somewhere else. New York is off the table because I'd like to go there with my mom or my best friend and neither is available.

Any ideas? I don't really want to use it for California either, since I live in CA and it feels like a waste to me. I can drive to anywhere in CA if I really wanted too. I'm going to Disneyland in Sept, San Diego in Oct and I live about 1.5 hours from San Franciso and Monterey. So I don't want to use it in Cali.

Not sure $300 would cover it, but what about Florida?  Nov/Dec are sometimes pretty cold and dreary here, but not in Florida.  Or....Arizona or New Mexico.

After you said that, I checked the airfare for FL and it most likely would cover a round trip ticket, as long as I went before Thanksgiving. [:D] The prices just go way up from there. Florida . . .hmmm . . .I've never been there. Good idea. Someone just mentioned Washington DC to me too. Never been there either.

Fly to Seattle, then come on up to Alaska, of course!

New England?  Spend a weekend gazing at the pretty fall foliage and gorging on maple sugar candy.

That's what I'd do, anyway. LOL.

Alaska! Ooooh! That's a good one! Does Southwest fly there? Even if they don't, I'm definitely gonna have to go there someday. And Seattle! I forgot about that one.

Another good one! I knew it would be a good idea to post this thread! Believe it or not, ever since I became an addict of The Gilmore Girls, I've wanted to go to New England. Lol!

Southwest only goes as far as Seattle. I WISH WISH WISH they would come as far as Fairbanks, or at least Anchorage. Alaska Airlines SUCKS EGGS!!

If I had that plane ticket I'd be heading to New Mexico.[;)]

I'm pretty sure Southwest goes to *almost* every state - I know it doesn't go to whatever state"Mall of America" is in because I want to go there. [:D]  It doesn't go to Hawaii because it doesn't fly over water and it doesn't go to Alaska because it would need some kind of international clearance to fly over Canada.  Other than that, you could pick anyplace you've always wanted to see.

I would also suggest D.C. If you come in the fall the weather is great all the leaves are changing, etc. The monuments are really something to see as well as all the museums. DC is a great town and Baltimore is just a hop, skip and jump away. [:D]

I was also going to suggest Seattle. But just stay here instead of flying to Alaska (not that I have anything against Alaska!). Seattle is a really beautiful city and there's a lot to do here.

Colorado, to the mountains?  Grand Canyon?

Have you ever been to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park?  It's beautiful in the fall, but I don't know if that kind of thing is what you like.  Also, it is the most visited of the national parks.  Nice perk there [;)].  Here's a link in case you're interested:

I second the New England/DC/Baltimore idea.  The East Coast in the autumn is just cool and crisp and awesome.  Or, I have a better idea of what to do with it!!

    ...send it to me!  :oP

I'll third the New England.  My ex and I went to Vermont in the fall and it was stunning.

I like the heat and I love Florida - but the fall leaves were beautiful and I'm a sucker for maple sugar candies!!
