I'm wanting to quit by New Year's, as the price will go up $1.40 per pack. I've about had enough of it. It was a stupid thing to start. I've tried to quit a few times and I get really cranky. The second time I tried to quit, I managed to find the vehicle speed governor on my truck. I got angry, put my foot down, and found out the governor shuts it down at 100 mph.

When did I start? May 25, 1982. I was a man and could anything I wanted to, including being stupid.

$1.40!! Try 4.50!! I cant remember when it was $1.40! Maybe this time you can take your frustration out on us instead of your poor truck, its much less dangerous and if it gets too bad Jamie can get out the red ink! I just hope she is more forgiving with us for a bit.

Great idea, you do need support .

I found the first week and a half the worst with the cravings. Now me being stupid after a month and gave in my body is going back through it again. We know a certain look on each others face which means not to say anything as they are not happy.

Get something to do to take your mind off it. I am currently doing a latch hook at night to help. While ever my mind is on something else I'm fine. I find night time the worst, getting over the smoke after dinner and before I go to bed.

Good luck to everyone thats decided to give up.

Also I have some chewing gum on me all the time this helps a little.

I quit smoking about 2 years ago.  Cold turkey.  My wife quit at the same time.  What motivated us, you ask?  Money.  We were each smoking about a pack a day.  At $4.00 a pack (including tax) that amounted to almost $3,000 a year.  That will buy you a pretty nice vacation.  So, we both quit smoking, opened up a special "vacation" savings account, and we put $60 a week in it.  This year, we went to Colorado, and Mt Rushmore.  Far more fun than smoking and God knows, I enjoyed the hell out of smoking.

Good luck to all you who want to quit.  If it is something you REALLY WANT to do, you can do it.  Until then, keep pi$$ing your money away.  [:)]

For those of you trying to quit, if you are finding it difficult, it's not just you...

A new study finds the level of nicotine in cigarettes has been rising, an average of 10% in the last 8 years. This makes it easier to get addicted and harder to quit.

The level of nicotine in Kools, a popular brand among black Americans, has gone up 20%. The favorite brands of younger people have gone up as well. There is no less nicotine in lights or ultralights. This might be greater motivation to quit... cig companies are preying on people's health for $$$. Don't support them any longer!

How many of us are there???
Well my hubby had a really bad day and had a couple, two when he came home . Of course I could smell it, and when he had one in front of me I had to give in too.

PLEASE SLAP ME......[:@] Why was I sooooooo stupid.

Back into it in the morning when I get out of bed.

No matter what any one say's after 15 years it is going to be  hard.

I have completly given up the night smoking. The morning cig is also very tough. I swear it's the first thing I think about. I have not stoppped completly, I am cutting back and then gonna drop it. I tried the first day just not smoking at all, and my head was killing me. So from smoking a whole pack I smoked 10 yesterday. That is huge for me. I even had to run out at 8 pm last night to my husbands grandmothers to set up a DVD player for her. My MIL, Aunt and FIL were all out on the back porch smoking and I didn't even budge.

Ron said his cigs were going up by $1.40 per pack...not up to $1.40.

I used to pay $52 a carton, that was about 2 months ago. Now I pay $9 a carton. No lie, I get them at the Indian reserve.

They say most people quit several times before quitting for good.  So, don't beat yourself up.  I did it the same thing a few times, but the important thing is to start the day with a renewed commitment.  Hang in there....it truly does get easier [:)].
