    Relief

We should be cracking the heat wave today. A front is coming through and the trade winds are shifting. We may get some rain, more than likely, late tonight into early tomorrow. Project lows in the middle of the week should be in the upper 60's. If you hear a wild-eyed southern boy step out the door and holler "Hooraw!", that would be me.

I hear ya Ron!!! I woke up to cloudy skies this morning! It has been too hot here. Way too hot!! The highs have been 103 and above for too long. Tomorrow the high will be in the high 80's. What a difference that will make. We are also expecting RAIN!!! I miss rain so much. Shannara is never going to want to come inside. She loves the rain too.

Send some this way!  Actually, if Ernesto makes the turn they are now predicting, we may actually some rain, which is desperately needed here.  I'm hoping for that, although it will send it my daughter's way, it will stay out of NO.

Right now, the project track of now Hurricane Ernesto is Florida.

My ac is working. At 105F outside, the house will be about 76 to 77 F inside. But it runs continously in the afternoon to do that. I had to change to average billing, at least for now.

DW works at a place in the next town north and called to say that it was looking really dark and rainy to the northwest. The edge clouds of the front are right over the house. Storms would tend to move northeast along the front and we could get some rain today as well as overnight. We are approximately 17 inches of rain below drought level and our county is a drought disaster area. Local farmers harvested their corn in July and baled it into rolls for animal feed. They're making more money than standard harvesting, getting anywhere from $40 to $70 a bale. Usually, they don't harvest until the last week of August but the crops came in early and they had to seize the opportunity in the market. A number of ranchers have had to sell off the herd. Even if they can feed grain, the grazing fields didn't produce because there has been almost no rain. And stock tanks can go dry. Some farms have their own well and a way to re-fill the stock tanks. But that still doesn't help the grazing fields.

Ron, I am with you!  I sure am hoping it makes it this way and gives us a little relief!  You might here me celebrating too!

That's right, you're over near "Cowtown". The front is crossing the Red River, here. But the whole front will move to the south by southeast. So, you may get rain first and then it will move on to us. So, when you're done with it, send it this way.

I'll be doing a rain dance later on tonight!!
And if we do get something, Ron, I'll tell the clouds to go your way. Will they listen to me? I dunno, but I can try!!

I want winter to be here!

    Shadow shares the same desire.
    So do I.

Ugh, I love the warmer weather.  I'm getting bummed out that it's 64 here now and we probably won't see anymore really hot weather until next year.  I'd loooove to live in Texas, California or Florida but DH won't go!!
    • Gold Top Dog
I'd give somebody's right arm right now to have 64 degrees.

You guys make me wish that we got summer rain here.  CA is a desert state (it's only irrigation that keeps our valleys green) and even though there's always the possibility of some freaky, out of season storm, I really don't expect to see any real rain before October - and that would be early.
