Oh, PLEASE, see your post above and know that I curled my toes in excitement! This is so fun!  Especially since you live in an unusual (to me) region...!  I hope to do the same sending my HM to Joyce in California.  How often would she get authentic New England Happy Mail!?

All this talk about things from diff't areas has me wondering... do you all use old bay seasoning or is it a Baltimore thing?  I am pretty sure we had it in NJ but never used it.  Down here they use it on everything!

I completely COULD NOT believe that the seasonings we have here are not sold anywhere else!  I have my favorites... and one hot sauce goes on EVERYTHING!!!  On salads, eggs, dip bread in it, soup, grits, sandwiches, dip french fries in it, EVERYTHING!  My family thinks Im crazy... I go through a huge bottle of this hot sauce every two weeks or so... and the powdered spices... theyre not sold anywhere!?  WTF?  All I know is, if I move Im gonna have a serious problem.  I just feel like its unbelieveable what the rest of the world eats!  I would die.

That is so funny. I do not use any spices or seasonings at all. My mother did not cook, I had a crap hole of a child hood. I had to learn how to cook diners all on my own at 18. My husband loves my cooking, even says it's better than his mothers. I love his mothers cooking.  I'm not good at throwing things together. I'm good at the basics like pasta, lasagna, soups.  But Give me ribs or steak, or anything that does need spice and I don't know what to do. I'm still learning.

I think my problem is I am afraid to try.[&:]

Angel, get yourself a cookbook called "The Joy of Cooking."  Not only does it tell you HOW to do things, but it also tells you WHY.  It is actually a good read.  Of course, I love to cook so YMMV.

Gawd to be young again.  I love hot food but alas, it no longer loves me.  If I eat it, the LAST thing I worry about burning is my mouth.  Let me know if you want more details than that.  [;)]

My dad was from GA so I don't know where he developed his love for extremely hot food, but he used to get one of those huge jars of jalapeno peppers.  When he'd open it at the table, just the fumes would make everyone's eyes burn. [:D] He'd sit there eating them with tears running down his face.  Then, he'd be in the bathroom all night moaning that he felt like he was giving birth to a bale of barbed wire. He got no sympathy from my mom, who was the more practical of the two. Her theory was that if you know for sure it's going to make you feel like he** - then don't eat it.

Yikes! lol... you mean when I get older it will hurt?  uh oh.  I dunno if its cause Ive lived here eating it since I was born but very very rarely does it hurt coming back out.  Maybe my body is just used to it.  When we boil crawfish my dad always says "everyones lips burning?" and everyones eating away nodding "YUP!" and and then "Good"... thats whats good...anything less is not spicy enough and we add a bunch more for the next batch.

I eat banana and jalapeno peppers out of the jar all the time.  The fresh ones are too hot tho.  I dont remember the last time something hurt coming out... maybe it was a REALLY hot batch of crawfish but I dunno.  Thank goodness because I truly need my spicy food.

We also eat a TON of garlic that was boiled with the crawfish and boy does everyone STINK later lol... it seeps out of your skin and you can smell yourself for a day or so... poor DH, he doesnt eat it but I eat enough for the both of us plus some... hahaha[8D]. lol...  he said one time he was gonna sleep on the couch.  [:)]
