    Week of October 13th Chat

Well, we're two days into the week already -- chat seems to be on its final breaths!

Before it dies altogether, I'll wrap up my only loose end.  Got word from my main boss yesterday that they will meet my salary increase request.  Yay!

Also, in my letter, I'd mentioned that if the pay rate itself were not negotiable, then I'd consider things in lieu of more dollars, such as a 4-day work week.  He said they were willing to try that out, even though we both agreed that the deadline patterns I have may make it impossible to have a 4-day week on a regular basis.  But even just one or two weeks a month would be nice.  Even though I'd work a bit longer on those 4 days, Ruby would have someone home with her on an extra day.  So, I'll get the pay increase AND some more flexibility, which is great!

Looks like our amazing stretch of glorious weather is coming to a close.  Drizzly this morning, heavier rains moving in later today -- and no end in sight, per the weather forecasters.  The wet season has begun in western Oregon!

Hope Ginger and her husband are doing well and that Jackie's kitchen is coming along nicely!

Yay for the salary increase, Tracy!

I've been busy trying to catch up here at work. Monday without mail service was a huge help. I'll pay for it tomorrow, but I may have space cleared on my desk by then.

It's nearly 70 degrees here, muggy, and rainy. It'll cool down again shortly and then probably go downhill from there.

Fall in Minnesota.  The colors are fantastic. The day started cool and dark, but wound up sunny and warm.  Drove up 169 today to St Peter as the sun was rising and the colors were glowing.  On the way back, the sun was hitting the trees.  Wow,

Junior enjoys the outback a lot now.  Got off work early and took him to a distant WMA where I know pheasants are nearby.  He jumped a rooster and didn't flinch as I missed it twice.  He then worked the area over with his nose.  He ranges out, but comes back to keep in touch.  He does a lot of springing, but that will lessen as he gets bigger and figures out the game.  Junior is a good rider in the car.  He watches a bit, then curls up and sleeps.

When you think about the things you teach a dog with out really trying, they are even more amazing.  "Up and in" started because the truck seat is up.  "Over" to get him out of the drivers seat.  He now gets in our faces and barks to go out when he needs to.  If we then say "out", he "woof"s at us.

Yay for you, Tracy! Send some vibes for my DH. Hopefully whatever is going on isn't serious. I'll fill in more later. First and second doctor have been seen and now he's seeing a third one tomorrow. Supposedly an infected salivary gland but now they seem unsure. Haven't talked to Ginger.

    So happy for you Tracy!

Vibes, prayers and healthy thots heading Charles way, Jackie.

Yay for your raise, sorry about this chat, I've looked forward to reading it for a long long time. Sad :(

Thanks for the cheers.  If we all lived closer to one another, we'd celebrate with drinks and/or chocolate goodies, my treat!

Jackie, sending big buckets of good thoughts and vibes for your husband.  Hopefully it's nothing terribly serious; it sounds painful.  Please keep us posted.

I'll send you my mailing address if it would help, Tracy. Stick out tongue

Doug, it sounds like Junior is becoming quite the hunting dog and that you're enjoying him a lot.

Continued good thoughts for your DH, Jackie.

I just spent a half hour on the phone with the gas company. They misapplied a payment back in July and I've been trying since early August to get them to correct it. Turns out one part of a payment for our company's commercial account was used to pay some random residential customer's account. Some days I don't know why I bother to write account numbers on the check stubs and take the time to send the payment coupons with payments But...this customer service rep finally really listened and looked at the account in question and found the problem. I could have kissed her.

As someone who does a lot of A/P, I totally understand this sentiment, Tina.  I've had to make a few phone calls like that myself over the years.  Frustrating.

Since mailing an actual cocktail to you might be tough, I'll have to send a bottle of something you can mix yourself (along with a bar of some good chocolate)!  Wink

I forgot to comment on Junior's progress.  He's a lucky dog to have such fun doing activities that come so naturally to him like hunting for birds.  He must be in heaven in those fields and grassy spaces!

We've got a nasty rainstorm hitting us this AM.  A few minutes ago, it was truly coming down in solid sheets.  The noise on the windows and skylights was so loud in our office that I had to raise my voice when on the telephone!  I have to go out at lunch time; I hope it lets up a bit before then.

Yea for you Tracy. Good deal! Sending good vibes for your husband Jackie. Not keeping up on here as much as I'd like but try to pop in now and then. Anyone figure out how not to have the quote in the reply area. Easy enough to delete but just a pain.

    • Gold Top Dog

Maureen, I first click on Custom Text Reply, then type in the blank box that appears on the next screen.  One extra click is faster than having to delete all that quote stuff, especially when using an iPad.  It's what I've done for a while since it was the only way to get the emoticons and formatting options originally.

I hope you continue to check in as often as you can!

Oops, I meant to say "Use Custom Text Editor" button!

Yay!!! Tracy so glad you got the raise you were looking for!  That is wonderful news :)

Jackie, thinking good thoughts for your DH.

We're supposed to get some results back today on a biopsy Charles had Wednesday.  Good thoughts appreciated.

    • Gold Top Dog

    You've both got 'em, Jackie.
