Taking on a Thursday

    Taking on a Thursday

    Almost Friday!  Thank goodness!

DH and I had a quiet evening and will go out to our fav place this weekend for a nice dinner.

I think I might have really hurt my shoulder yesterday.  My newspaper does a few glossy mags each year and one of those was ready for pick up.  The last pub came in easy to handle bundles....this one came in boxes.  Boxes, that according to DS weighed between 50 and 75 lbs each.  Four boxes were left for me to pick up to distribute.  When I attempted to lift the first box I felt almost a tear in the right shoulder and it hurt like blazes.  The second box made the shoulder hurt worse and at that point I got the security guy to come out and load the remainder for me.  I have one bad shoulder and one REALLY bad shoulder....the right is the really bad and I'm afraid now that it's worse.  Crap.

Already have a call in to my doctor to see if he wants me to come in or will just order an xray or whatever.  Lordie, I really hate MRI's!  And I have a feeling at least one is in my very near future.

On that uplifting note.....hey everyone, have a great day! Wink

Rough day already, Glenda? I wondered what we were taking on today.

I did not get enough sleep because a certain dog was very restless all night. On her bed, off her bed, on her bed, off her bed; walking around looking for me, panting a lot. Ugh.

One of the bosses has me running in circles for a meeting he is in charge of. I don't mind helping, but make a list and let me do it all at once. Confused

last full day at the beach - Bugsy clearly understands that beach life means breaking the rules - he has never been a garbage can surfer but here he is always checking it out. He just pulled out the wrapper from some cheese and paraded around with it LOL

It's another fairly windy day with roughish seas. I want to try the kayak so badly but I can only see myself wearing it not commandeering it so I may have to pass.

I thought I'd be fed up of sand at this point but it's been really nice. B is finally able to settle on the beach which makes it super easy.

This morning I saw a couple with some giant long haired rabbit on a leash on some grass at the hotel. I will admit to be stunned as I couldn't tell at first what it was and then even more so when I realized it was a rabbit! Hoping that B never sees it!

Tina I am sorry GingerD had a bad night :(

Glenda I hope your shoulder is OK

Tracy I am still so sad for that couple and poor pittie - but happy that my dog is so open-minded LOL Oh yes that's right if a dog will play he will play back :)

Alright, time for some lunch I think. Took a long walk with B, played in the surf and then took a solo walk. Happy to be inside chilling now

    Ouch, Glenda!

Tina, I didn't notice the thread title so I had no clue what you meant.  Took me a few seconds to snap. lol

I'm sorry GingerD had a restless night and kept you awake.  Have you seen any improvement from the acupuncture?

Karen, I'm sorry it's been too windy to kayak.  I did chuckle about your comment about wearing it.  I'm so glad you've had such a great time except for the badly behaved dogs and their even worse owners.   Safe travels home tomorrow.  Tell your DH to have a ruddy mary on me. :)

Oh my.....guess I'm taking on the day?  And yeah, unfortunately I didn't get much sleep last night so the brain is fogged.

Doc sent me to the ER and xrays showed no bones pulled away so rest, blah blah blah, see an ortho in a week to proceed.  At this point it's either a muscle strain or tear and obviously that doesn't show on xray......so I smell an MRI on the horizon.  I've tried really hard to put on my big girl pants and not be medicated, but I'm so darned claustrophobic that I really get bonzo in those tubes.  Sigh.

Poor GingerD....bet she's pretty worn out too!

What a hoot seeing a rabbit on a lead.  Fingers crossed that B does not see said bunny......

Morning all, seems like I have missed so much here.  Tina, I am sorry GingerD kept you up last night.  It must be in the air, Hot Shot has been weird this week and Rocky woke everybody up last night barking at the back door.  I never did figure that one out.  Hot has changed his routine this last week, usually gets up with my alarm, follows me to the kitchen, gets his morning treat, goes outside for his walkabout comes in and settles back in while I am getting ready for work.  This week, sleeps in, no treat, wants outside one day as I am leaving for work, one day wants straight out with no treat, one day didn't wake up for treat or outside.   He is not eating his meal as usual but I still feed a  the normal time and he is usaually ready to chow down but this week it has been left til later, when I am ready to go to bed.  Poor Rocky is just confused.... I think I heard him say "Whud up bro?" lol.

Karen your trip sounds great, glad you and Bugs are having some fun sand time.

Glenda sorry you are hurting....something you might be able to relate to, I turned 58 today and it is not right..... I don't think like 58 but I am starting to feel like way older than that.

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend, I will take a 4 day one!

    Take care all

    @JackieG
.  Tell your DH to have a ruddy mary on me. :)

he's in his clear out the fridge mode so no worries, one of us will be having one on you!

I think I'll head out in the kayak later, regardless of the seas (listen to me talk big!)

Despite the ignorant owners and dogs behaving badly, we've all enjoyed out trip. B has had a fun dog to play with most days (yesterday he didn't) and of course he still gets loads of interest and affection from people on the beach. We are blessed that even when the other dogs are going off on each other he just looks at them like "issues". I was saying to DH last night how lucky we were - he hasn't made a sound the whole time we've been here LOL I mean there have been some noisy 'interactions' and he just sits up or stands at alert.

Glenda glad nothing seemed too bad - think positive and truly rest

    Happy Birthday Ginger!!

Hot, let's get back to our normal routine please. We Aunties worry at the drop of a hat

Glenda I forgot to say Happy Anniversary!  BTW, has anyone talked to Deb?  I really need to have  a fruity birthday cocktail at the tiki bar and I miss her. :)

I miss everyone actually hope all is well

Jackie I thought you were younger than me?  It's like a lady here at work, I am two months older than her and she loves to make a big deal about "how much older I am :)"

    • Gold Top Dog

GingerP, I'm three years older than you.  Ack!

Yes, Hot stop worrying us and get back to normal.

Go, Karen! You'll look good wearing that kayak. :)

Happy Birthday, GingerP!  Cake  Have something chocolate to celebrate today!

I hope Hot Shot returns to his usual routine soon.  It's true that changes in habit makes us worry!

I didn't make the connection between Tina's thread title and Glenda's report about her shoulder either.   Some of us with older brains are a little slow on the uptake!

Glenda, you've got my sympathies -- I've had bursitis flare-ups in my shoulder, and it's not fun.  Slow healing, for sure.

Karen, your beach visits sounds wonderful.  I told my coworker yesterday that I was flipping thru a magazine the other day that had several pages spotlighting several  beach/summer-related items:  bathing suits, beach bags, fun towels and chairs, funky sunglasses, beach cover-ups, floppy beach hats, etc.  I barely looked at the pages because I have no use for any of those items.  Beach visits here require things like a hooded sweatshirt or windbreaker and sturdy shoes.  You don't see people lounging in swimsuits on towels or frolicking in the water.  It's depressing, actually.

Bugsy is a mix of Ruby's energy level and Tonka's mellow personality.  He was the same when we took him anywhere:  any dogs acting bonkers near him barely made him lift his head.  And everyone was his friend, person or dog.  Unlike Bugsy, he didn't want to romp with dogs, but he liked being near them, observing.  Ruby wants to romp, but she's too vocal and high-strung that she scares most everyone away.

Just hunted down Jackie's thread about the class.  Going to go back and read again and post my questions!!

Jackie, GingerD's acupuncture seems to have helped a little. The vet hit several points so it's hard to tell what worked, but she is getting around a little better.

I wish the vet could hit the nerve that shuts off the food guarding. Sad

Happy Birthday GingerP! I just ate some chocolate in your honor. Big Smile

Happy Birthday Ginger, your young, wait till you get to be 82 like me.

Glena so sorry about your shoulder, I was just getting over a rotar cuff tear when I tore my bicep, same arm. then in march i broke my wrist on the other hand, Ugh  just starting to get the wrist moving a bit hope yours is not too bad. Makes one wonder why all these things happen. :(

Ginger I am having a beer for your birthday, boring but refreshing :)

Well I did it! I took on the sea and lived to tell :)

It was HARD but fun, fun, fun.

Definitely going to give it a try in the morning!

Tracy B isn't as chilled as Tonka  - and that pit the other day made some crazy bird like noise when excited :) See Ruby isn't alone!  Bugsy still obsessively hunts and has found the buried burger and some chicken wings buried in the sand, went on point for a pigeon and was so stubborn he not only drew a crowd but had waves breaking on his back  I just took him for a potty walk and he spotted something in a shrub and I couldn't move him on for ages. Please don't think he's innocent, however we are fortunate that he is silent, and at his age able to lie in the sand next to the chairs. But he's nearly 9, at 3 he was a nightmare LOL
