    Talking on Tuesday, 5/13

Right now, great weather, but I guess some of the mid-western storms are heading our way.  Ah, Spring in the Berkshires!

Hope everyone has a good day.

I see that posts from 2007 are popping up again.

So is anyone who joined hoping to win the Mother's Day contest going to stick around?

Swampy here. And I'm swamped with work, so I guess it fits.

GingerD goes to the vet at 11:30a.

Kate, doesn't RonnieO come home this Saturday?

We had some storms move through last night.  We got almost 4 inches of rain!  Woot!  The thunder woke me up but for once I was happy to be awake listening to the rain come down.  My neighbor's mimosa tree didn't survive the high winds.

Tina, I was wondering the same thing about the new members joining for the contest.  I'm seeing a lot of old threads too.  Good luck at the vet with GingerD.

Tonight is another dog class.  Next week Belle goes with me.  This should be interesting.  The trainer asked if I'd bring Rex tonight as a demo dog.  He'll love that.

Hi - Just to be clear, the reason why an old post might pop up is because somebody found the old thread from a google (or similar) search and decided to comment or ask a question. That then makes re-ignites the thread and will bring it back to the feed (or grid). This is exactly how it's designed. Granted, it's unusual for this to happen. But there are thousands of posts that people still refer to as useful and even comment on.

Jonathan, do you see the thread titled "Tuesday ta-da"?  That's not a revived thread.

Gorgeous day here in Pa tok Ava for her morning walk and just hated to come inside, feeling better and better with each day, got a lot of one armed cleaning done this morning. :) Good luck to Ginger this morning;  Ava soon will be due for all her shots including her rabies, I always dread that shot. Hope everyone has a great day.

Yes - that one IS a BUG. There was a recent revived thread though.

Jonathan, I saw several old revived threads the last few days but it was obvious that the one I referred to was just old.

Vivian, one armed cleaning sounds like no fun.  Glad you're feeling better every day.

    Ditto to all of this.

GingerD must be the most resilient dog on the planet. Her hips are perfect, she doesn't have any arthritis. The vet said if she didn't x-ray GingerD, she wouldn't think that the x-rays matched my dog. BUT...she has slow reaction to the flipped-over paw test in both back legs and there was a place in her pelvis the vet pressed on that immediately dropped GingerD to her knees. The vet suspects nerve pain, so gave her a medication specifically for that. We also started her on a joint supplement. Oh, and she's down another pound.

Thanks for the good thoughts for her. Smile

Vivian, I'm imagining you walking around with one bicep muscle looking like Popeye, as a result of all your one-armed cleaning (and other activities) while your wrist healed!  Glad you're feeling so much better.

Jackie, that's too bad about your neighbor's Mimosa tree.  Those are so pretty.  Our neighbors had one in their backyard, but when they moved, the new homeowners chopped it down.  Don't ask me why -- it gave much-needed shade in their southwest-facing backyard.

Tina, that's incredible to hear about GingerD's Xrays looking so "youthful!"  I'm sorry to hear that she's got a nerve issue, but it's good the vet found "the spot" and has some medicine that can help.  I can't remember if I asked you this before, but is there someplace near you where she can do some warm water pool therapy?  I'm sure it's expensive, but it's pretty amazing how much more mobile dogs are in the pools.  I know a few people who've had great luck with them.  Kind of like swimming or water exercise for humans with bad joints and spines, I guess.

We're supposed to reach 85 today.  Seriously, that is not normal for May here!  Tomorrow may reach 90.  As luck would have it, rains and grey skies return for the weekend.  Grrrrrr!

Tracy, I honestly don't know. I'll have to check.

TIna, old GingerD is going to outlive you. lol  Seriously, it's great she doesn't have arthritis or hip dysplasia.  I hope the medication helps her.   Good job on getting another pound off of her.  I need to go on her weight loss plan.  :)

Tracy, it's crazy that you're having such warm weather.  Sorry the weekend is going to be dreary.  We're very cool for this time of year.  I think it's 63 outside.  Brrrrr. :)  I'm ready to break out the jackets and sweaters.

Contest?  Did us current members get entered into it by default.,.....just in all fairness.

V, I sure feel for you with the one armed activities.  I've had way too many shoulder surgeries not to know how that is!

DH is also experiencing some of the same.  His left elbow starting bothering him on Saturday....no bumps or bangs, or anything, just started to hurt.  By yesterday morning it was severe enough that HE called the doc who brought him in, immediately put him on 300 mg per day of Keflex  and sent him to an ortho today to have the bursa drained.  He has a strep infection IN THE ELBOW (????????).  Oddly, another employee had the exact same thing a couple weeks ago, so the poor GM, who is germaphobic as all get out, is now having the entire building checked for a source.  Todd can't bend his arm at all and he's hurting big time.  Poor guy.  It's so swollen that  docs look at it and say....oh....my!

Great news (mostly) about Ginger D.  Glad Jackie got rained on, altho I'm sorry about the tree.  There are so beautiful it's sad to see one go.

Sorry Ladies: you've got to be 'in it, to win it'. There will be other competitions soon, however.

    • Gold Top Dog

Glenda, don't feel bad about the contest -- you had to submit a photo of you with your dog (thus the Mother's Day theme), so it wasn't an automatic entry thing.  Speaking for myself, I didn't have any good photos of me and Ruby, mainly because I look awful in them, but also because she's rarely anything but a blur when I try to pose with her for a pic.

I hope Todd's elbow is feeling better soon -- what a weird thing!

Get this:  My friend just invited me to a yoga class at a local brewery.  I kid you not.  The flyer/promo is pretty funny:  "Join us for some de-tox and some re-tox!"  I can't make it, but I'm eager to hear what my friend says.  Only in Oregon, I'm telling you!
