Talking on Tuesday

    Talking on Tuesday

    Good Morning all.

It's warmed up to 2 here this morning, from our overnight low of 7 below. The sun is shining and it looks like we might have a pretty day.

The foot and a half of snow we were supposed to get didn't happen, thankfully, instead it got bitter cold.  We had to sand parts of the back yard last night.  The small amounts of melting from the sun and the bitter cold were starting to turn it into an ice rink.  Poor Theo hasn't learned how to skate yet so sand to the rescue.

Not much of anything going on in my neck of the woods.  Hope everyone is doing well.

It was 35 this morning when I got up.  I know, big deal. :)

I did come down with a cold but so far it's not too bad.  Yesterday my sinuses were all messed up and I was having some vertigo.  Not fun.  I spent my evening on the couch with Gabby.  She's always willing to do nothing if that's what's on the agenda.

Karen, hope your DH got a flight home.

I hope you don't feel any worse, Jackie.

I would have preferred to stay home in bed today.

Off to work on the mountain of invoices.

Darn cold here today - was about 12* when I got up with a ferocious wind. Bigger issue is a world covered in ice.

Some areas in the sun are melting but some areas of our drive and paths are horrific. Mr B says this leash only exploring sucks.

Doug I hope Piper is feeling a bit better

I am still in shock that my beloved is returning today - so glad I bothered to look as I was sure he was coming home tomorrow

Bugsy is flatter than a pancake today - praying it isn't because he drank some yucky water the other day.

That's all really - trying to balance starting this new project while entertaining my mother.

Hope you keep feeling better Jackie

Karen and Glenda, I'm sorry you guys are dealing with ice.  It's not fun for humans, but it's even worse for dogs who don't quite understand why they need to move SLOWLY when going outside!

Hope you kick the cold quickly, Jackie.  Knock wood, I didn't catch the one DH or my coworkers had recently . . . there were a lot of bugs going around this winter.

We've got really nice temperatures today (about 60).  Somewhat overcast, but some sun peeking out at the moment. The flowering cherry and plum trees will be blossoming ASAP!

We met with an attorney this morning regarding the update of our wills and other related documents.  Honestly, the decisions involved are overwhelming enough, even when you don't have children or a very large estate.  I cannot imagine having to make decisions about this kind of thing if we had human children and/or lots of real estate and valuable possessions.  Our biggest obstacle was making arrangements for Ruby.  She's just not the kind of dog you can ask the average friend or family member to take on! Tongue Tied

From last night -- Kate, you asked about my visit east.  Yes, I'm heading to CT in April.  I'll definitely let you know if I'll make it to RI during my visit.  I have a feeling that may have to wait until I visit in the fall because this trip is coinciding with my oldest friend's visit to see her parents in CT, so I may not venture from my hometown.  Whether it's this visit or a future one, I would love to meet you "in person" sometime!

@tacran, lol, Ginger P definitely did not get into the catfood.

@Doug, I sure hope Piper bounces back soon

@Karen,  Rocky was not well the day it started the Thunder Sleet here,  he never gets sick so I was very concerned, I figured he must have had something "outside" that I did not give him.  He went out several times during the night and of course wind chill was -10 that night..   The next day he seemed to bounce right back, go figure.

@Jackie  I hope you are feeling better this afternoon.

Tracy I have been meaning to get a will for years now, it seems as tho everytime I try to set back the money something else major come up and well....procrastination is a problem too. :)

I have just come out of hibernation today.   It finally  reached the upper twenties and the sun came out so I ventured in to the office.  It has definitely been cold icy and nasty out.

Weather is subjective.  I'm out with the pup at 7am at 8 degrees, thinking it's a nice morning.  I had to work on a freezing hot tub.  Save me from customers with tools.  3 wires to replace, he put the new ones in wrong.  30 seconds to spot, an hour to defrost frozen parts until water moved.

Piper is at the vets for x-rays of her back.  She doesn't want to eat much solid, so gets weaker and weaker.  You can see the hurt in her eyes.  Pain killers may help some, but if she wont eat.....  Not happy, and I have to take Lugnut to puppy class tonight.  He knows something is wrong with Piper, and has actually been gentle and respectful most of the time.  Of course, Piper still has shiny teeth.  Glad I have a walk out basement.  Piper gets heavy after a few trips up the stairs.

Vet called.  X-ray showed extensive deposits on lower spine, interfering with organ functions, walking.  Also had heart difficulties, shown by labored breathing.  Not going to get better.

We set her free at 4:30PM, at the age of 13.  Both vets, who have known her for 13 years, were in tears also.

Oh, Doug.  :(  Words are useless.   Run free, Piper.  You had the best family and the best life a dog could have.

    • Gold Top Dog

OMG, Doug.  I'm so very sorry.  Run free Piper.  We'll miss hearing about you beautiful girl.

    • Gold Top Dog

Doug, I am so so sorry to hear this.  Run free, Piper, and hugs to you and your wife.

Oh Doug..... I am so so very sorry.  So very sorry. She has been a very well-loved girl with a great life provided by you and your wife.  She lived out her potential with you because you loved her for who she was.  My deepest sympathy to you.
