Tired Tuesday chat

It's supposed to start warming up here so I'm going to try to shovel some of the snow away from the house. There's going to be mass flooding so every little bit might help I'm thinking. Especially around the gutters. The bright side, and this is huge, is that we will get above freezing for the first time since December!!! I can't wait! It is not going to last unfortunately. We'll be back down into the teens next week

So I forget what 65 ish feels like. I'm going to vegas soon and am not sure what to pack. The weather is going to be 65 to 75. Light long sleeve or all short sleeve?

Maybe a couple light long sleeve, just to be on the safe side..

Inside or outside, you may want the additional skin cover.  As I recall, they keep those casino's pretty chilly.

We are getting more about 4 to 6, ugh I have no idea where I'm going to put it. All I know is my lunch break will be spent digging out my mailbox, it got plowed in. I'm so done with snow. Trying to stay positive, I'm looking forward to my Therapy Dog class tonight and going to Phili Monday to see a concert and get away for a day.

We have no snow forecast until tomorrow.  A whole day of sun and warm weather (warm is a relative term).  Roads are dry and clean this morning.

Pup seems to have learned that piddle is an outdoor activity.  One end covered, now for the other.

It is truly amazing how fast the little thing can get into trouble.  Piper has been helping train him.  He now knows to wait until she is done with her breakfast.

Puppy classes tonight.  He has outgrown the little coat I got him.  He's worse than a teenager.

Julie, being from Michigan, you should be breaking out sandals and shorts at 65 degrees.

We got 8" of snow last night. It took me a little over 1 1/2 hours to shovel my porch, sidewalks, and driveway. I need a nap.

I sound like a broken record but I really can't imagine dealing with all that snow and cold weather.  You people up North are tough.  I wish I could send you all some nice Spring weather but then you'd have mud.  

It's very Spring like here.  

A friend's sister took her daughter to Vegas to celebrate the daughter's 21st birthday.  Some of the daughters friends went along and they spent three days getting stupid drunk to the point of puking.  What kind of mom does that?  

That's a nice thought Jackie...to send us some nice weather . I'm fortunate in that I'm not working and so don't have to drive in the stuff, though I did get caught in a very bad white out a couple of weeks ago. Went to agility class, about 20 minutes from our house, and the sun was shining. We couldn't understand why all of the schools had closed. We found out. The drive home was about the worst it can get. I followed a tractor trailer and could only see him every so often. Followed him into a gas station, where I was stopping to clean off my windshield, and he told me he'd had it. Said he couldn't see a thing and that he couldn't keep the windshield clean..snow just kept piling up on it. A friend of mine said she stopped right on the highway to clean her's off. Stay save for all those that have to drive. Sorry Glenda that you had to get out in the stuff.

Maureen, that would have been a complete freak out for me.  I'd have sold the house and headed South.  I'm glad you guys made it home safely.

Realizing that I'm not a parent, so my opinion means nothing, but I think a Mom who does that lacks the kind of judgment required to BE a parent in the first place.  From what I've seen from some acquaintances and coworkers who are parents, there seems to be a group of them who try to take on the role of "friend" or "buddy" more than "parent" with their kids.  Yes, I am a bit old-fashioned . . . but I think there should be limits to that attitude, and the situation you described, Jackie, goes beyond the limit, IMO.  Maybe that mother figured they'd get drunk anyway, so if she were there, at least she'd supervise them.  Hopefully she stayed cold-stone sober herself and didn't set an even worse example by participating in the drinking.

I cannot believe you've not had above-freezing temps since December, Julie!  You must be beyond excited about the Vegas trip.  I'm with Glenda --- air conditioning can be brutal, so layers are a must.  Short sleeves with a light sweater is a good combo!

Rain is pelting the windows here -- high winds again, too.  It's a soggy mess.  But, as Oregonians like to say, "At least you don't have to shovel rain!"  

Tracy, I am a parent, and I still agree with everything you said about that Mother.  Yikes!

We have been upgraded???? from 3-6" to 3-8".  Was getting a bit slippery as I headed home but the snow was coming down so fast that the plows weren't able to keep up with it.  In that I was on a state maintained highway, I'm glad I didn't have to do much driving IN town!

Blech.

Michele, I meant to ask what concert you're going to see?

Also, Jackie -- the other day you said you went to see Philomena, and I forgot to comment on that.  I felt the same as you --- that at times I was laughing heartily, and at others I was wiping away tears.  I just cannot imagine experiencing that kind of heartbreak and carrying it with you for so many years.  The fact that it was a true story and that hundreds (or more?) young women were made to suffer the same experience is an injustice.  The worst part was knowing he was looking for her, too, and the stupid church wouldn't help them connect.  Anyway,  Judi Dench was excellent, as usual (whether it was her funny quips or the silences that spoke loudly with the look in her eyes).  I've loved Steve Coogan in traditional comedies, but he was really good in this more complex role.  

Okay, the rain is hitting my office windows so hard that I almost can't hear myself think.  Poor DH went home for lunch to walk Ruby --- it will be miserable for both of them!

Yes, that gal is always trying to be her kid's best friend and I guess she'll never learn how hard it is to walk that line between friend and mom.  The kid is actually pretty smart and I suspect there was a lot of peer pressure and little adult guidance.  I don't know if the mom stayed sober or was even present during all the drinking. My friend was supposed to go on this Vegas birthday trip but she declined and is glad she did.  She couldn't have kept quiet about the idiocy.  I'm always sad to hear about other people with crappy family relationships but I do like the company. :)  

Julie, have fun in Vegas.  Say hi to Elvis for me.  Take one long sleeved something that you can throw over your short sleeves.
