Friday Follies (last of 2013!!)

    Friday Follies (last of 2013!!)

*smile* I am really looking forward to Wednesday - I can use a fresh start to a year! Julie -- heavens, I am SO sorry to hear about the breakin and all that follows. It makes you feel so violated and yet SO angry. And then for the police to be so cavalier. Put in writing your "request" for the police to amend their report, and I would send it certified with a copy to your insurer. Can't hurt & it *might* help you to not get blown off. I think sometimes I spend 90% of my time on the phone telling people to "put your request in writing". *sigh* What a drag for you. **thinking good thots for Julie to win the lottery this week**) Jackie -- c'mon over here. Real estate atty's tend to be feast or famine during the Holidays and I'm swamped! Our weather isn't 'bad' it's just weird (hot/cold/hot/cold) The fact that UPS and Fed Ex had "issues" worked in my favor. After UPS came last night suddenly another prezzie from David appeared on my keyboard at home *chuckle* -- day after presents are kinda fun! have a good day everyone.

Sigh.  Gotta work today.  Since I worked all of last Friday, won't start for a little bit, but still.  I do have some good stuff pending so need to get it taken care of.  Work part of today and all day Monday then off again Tuesday and Wednesday.  Really kind of  increases the work load for the days that I do work.  Oh well.....off time is a good thing!

Must go to facebook and see what ELSE happened to Julie.....

Nothing new has happened, just minor insurance frustrations. But that's to be expected I guess. I am starting to feel a little more in control. I have someone coming over to give me a door estimate on Monday and I'm making my insurance list today and printing off copies of my purchase receipts for my electronic s that were stolen. I have most everything since most stuff I purchased in the last few years. There's just a few items that I can't find. Hopefully they won't give me a run around about those.

I am thinking about going to buy a TV just so I can stop looking at the gaping hole in my entertainment center. I was reading online and the suggestion is to replace that stuff ASAP because it will make you feel more restored so to speak. I'm guessing that is very true.

Other than that I am finally beginning to unpack from being gone and doing laundry cleaning etc. Busy busy. Can't wait to get my house back in order. It feels overwhelming but I have to remind myself that it will come together a little bit at a time. Just gotta keep picking away at it.

Calm and restore vibes for you, Julie.

It dawned on me last night to put Buddy's medication in syringe partially filled with water, let it dissolve, then put it in the side of his mouth. I can't say I'm not still concerned, though, because of his waning appetite.

I'm getting my new folders ready for 2014. I do about 250 or so and invariably cut myself at least once on the ragged edges.

    TGIF!

I was trying to catch up.  Dont know how I missed it but when did you get robbed Julie???  I am so sorry.  Stupid criminals, it is not right!

We had an awesome but quick trip to Tulsa to see family.  Hot and Rock stayed home, they were sooo excited to see us when we got home.  Then yesterday morning, while I was getting ready for work,  they stayed out less the 5 min (normally it's 30 to 40 minutes).  They followed me everywhere as if to say; Dont leave again Mom!  I think they were ok when they realized I wasnt taking the Dad with me.

Tina I am sorry Buddy has not been well hope he is on the mend.

Where is Deb and our Holiday cocktails?

Ok I started this 2 hours ago so I guess I will say have a great Friday and get back to work :)

Good idea about the syringe and dissolved meds, Tina.  Fingers crossed his appetite issues are just because the antibiotics make him feel a bit nauseous.

Funny you mentioned the 2014 folders.  I was just thinking this morning as I filed a few things that I've got to get my 2014 paid bills folders ready.  I hate that task, and I usually end up with a big pile of January filing on my desk, waiting for new folders that I don't get around to making until close to February.  And folder cuts are super painful!

Callie, I like gifts on the "installment plan," too.  It's a nice treat to open something after-the-fact.

Julie, I missed the details you might have posted on Facebook.  Besides stealing so much stuff, did they also totally trash your house?  I assume a broken window or door, but is there other damage or clean-up to do?  The apartment my Mom lived in several years ago was broken into when she was on vacation.  The loss of the few pieces of real jewelry she had (they were my grandmother's pieces) was heartbreaking enough, but what made my Mom feel worse was seeing her apartment a total mess -- contents of closets and drawers spilled everywhere, etc.  She never felt right in that place after that.  Callie used the same word she used:  violated.  I'm so sorry you're dealing with that.

Another pea-soup foggy day.  It's so bad this week that they're putting out air quality warnings, or whatever they're called.  If you have asthma or respiratory conditions, they'll feel much worse.  I told DH that I'm going to find a town outside the valley tomorrow where sun is showing on the weather map, and I'm going to drive there.  I don't care if I just sit in my car in a parking lot!  I need to get out of this for a few hours.  Ugh!

I was typing and missed your post, Ginger.  Glad to hear you had a nice holiday.  Isn't it nice to be missed as much as your dogs missed you?!  :-)

    @tacran
sn't it nice to be missed as much as your dogs missed you?!  :-)

Yes it is.  It 's actually the hilight of my day when I get home and the boys are so excited.  Rocky will go run and get his ragged bear or a towel or something and parade around like see mom I'm working here :)

Julie, when we got the first massive snow storm after moving here, something a newscaster said stuck in my mind re: shoveling.  How do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time.

Sounds silly as heck, but I remember that when a chore seems too daunting!  One bite at a time....

My house got broken into on Christmas eve. The crooks hit most of the neighborhood as it was empty with everyone gone due to having no power for so long in such cold weather. Apparently this has been an issue during this storm outage with people stealing generators right off porches or garages and breaking into homes. Anyway, they didn't really trash the place although they did track some black stuff in on the carpet so I will have to get that cleaned. It could have been worse.

There's still a lot of people without power. This is the 6th day. They are saying this is the worst ice storm we have had in a long long time. You basically had to go to a neighboring state to buy a generator. They were sold out in lower Michigan

black junk on the floor, huh?  gee where is Sherlock Holmes when you need him (hey - that's Robert Downey Jr ... could be fun??) LOL

That's just such a low-life thing to do -- let's go and mess with those folks who are already having a sucky time!

    • Gold Top Dog

Black junk in an ice storm??? very interesting my dear Watson....

    • Gold Top Dog

The insurance should pay for the carpet cleaning and/or restoration.  Really low rent thief not to wipe his feet first!  Super Angry

Julie, I am so sorry you were broken into--what a pain! I do hope they catch whoever broke into your house and all the others. And black gunk on the carpet? Ginger, I 'm glad the boys gave you a proper welcome home!  Glenda, I hope work wasn't too horrible after a few days off. Callie, I think you should just go for the 12 days of Christmas, and then add Epiphany (some call it Little Christmas here and exchange gifts).  Pea-soup fog is no fun! We get it in the morning, but it usually burns off. I can't imagine getting an air quality alert with it!  How is Buddy?

There's not much going on here, which is fine with me. Tomorrow is "tackle the kitchen floor" day.

Checking in late for the day and week. I've thought about you a lot Julie and wondered how you were managing. I'm so sorry this has happened to you but know you'll put it all back together in no time. Still, it sucks and especially that it happened over Christmas. Not exactly the spirit of the holiday you'd hope for :(

We hosted Christmas Eve here and it went beautifully. My lasagna was delish and so was everything else we ate and drank. The luminaries lighting up every street in the development looked magical. I tried taking pictures but they didn't turn out :(. As always, Santa was very good to me. My favorite gift was a heated throw. I've taken a couple of yummy naps with it :)

DH is working today & tomorrow and I'm enjoying the down time and reading and watching some movies. I tried watching Zero Dark Thirty tonight and couldn't stomach it. I was literally feeling ill watching it, so I deleted the movie. Blech!!  Watching Crazy, Stupid, Love now. Not bad.

I am feeling the need to organize things, including my files, so might work on that tomorrow. Not a favorite task for me but it needs to be done.

Tina - I'm still thinking good thoughts for Buddy.
