10/18 Friday Chat - Slacker Edition (Deb W.)

You guys are such a bunch of slackers !!!!!

I can't believe no one chatted yesterday.

I, myself, was very busy being a pretty woman.

    The Pretty Woman Cocktail:

    1 oz. Malibu Rum

    1 oz. Midori Melon Liqueur

    2 Scoops crushed ice

    1 oz. Bols Strawberry Liqueur

    1. Blend Malibu, Midori and 1 scoop of ice until a liquid.    2. Seperatly, blend the Straberries, the strawberry Liqueuer and another large scoop of ice until icy.   3. Pour the first mixture into a glass.   4. Pour the second mixture on top of the first, make sure they remain seperate.   5. Use the remining Strawberry, cut a slit in it and place it on the rim of the glass to garnish.

So what was your excuse, and, include photos as proof.

OMG Deb.... I am so jealous.  Was he very nice?  I always imagine that he is.  There are many of his movies that I have seen multiple times but Pretty Woman I have seen literally a hundred times.

I am so glad it is Friday.  I have to finish clearing the plant room tomorrow so I can bring in my tropicals.  It is supposed to get into the low thirties mid week.  Sunday I am going to check on Mom, she seems to be doing well.   Also Ava and Addy (Granddaughters) are having their combined birthday party at the park.  Nanny must be there! Big Smile

I hope everyone is having a good day!  Glenda are you moving this weekend?

It's craft fair weekend in N.W. Arkansas there will be tons of traffic all over.  It's lots of fun but I will have too much to do Sat and out of town on Sun.

Deb, you didn't put him under house arrest?  You're slipping, girlfriend. :)  Great picture!

Gin, I'm so glad your Mom is doing well.  Happy birthday to your granddaughters!  Your weekend does sound like a busy one.  I'll take an extra nap for you. lol

Gabby has a Vet appointment this afternoon.  Routine exam.  She's fearful at the Vets so I get stressed which doesn't help her.  I may have one of Deb's drinks to help calm me. Tomorrow she's going with me to be a demo dog at a dog behavior seminar.  It's about helping fearful dogs.  I was asked to do a leg of transport tomorrow but I don't want to cancel the seminar but I feel kind of bad about turning down the transport.  They're having trouble getting people so maybe they'll delay the transport until next weekend.

We had beautiful weather yesterday but today is cloudy and maybe rain again later.  Not complaining.

Belle is really driving us crazy with her cone head.  She's such a turd.  Yesterday she was chasing poor Gabby around and shoving furniture out of her way.  I hope by the end of this weekend I can take the cone off.  Gabby was all "get away from me you freak!".  Then Gabby would run up to Belle and try to get her to chase her.  I had to have a come to Jesus meeting with them both. lol

The cone story made me laugh out loud then I had to share it with the girls in the office

    LOL at Belle & Gabby!

    Deb you are so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't had a chance to post this here but the bottom line from B's rehab eval the other day is he isn't going to get much better and he is likely in constant pain. I've been so upset since. I was sure he wasn't in pain most of the time, I knew sometimes he was. I know there is much worse but gosh, constant pain sucks.

Other than that, tomorrow evening I have invited some friends around for wine/beer/cheese etc. I feel like I never see anyone any more so its just a casual thing.

They are doing construction in our office this week so I have worked from home 3 days, Bugsy is happy about this but apparently prefers his 5 am walks. He wakes me up about 4:45 every morning. Of course I am not sound asleep either so from that point on I am awake.

    That's all I've got

Holy mackerel, Deb!  What a great photo!  Can you share how it came to be?  Hey, not too long ago, I heard his marriage was breaking up.  Was Mr. W. a bit worried about the opportunity you had there?  Wink

Richard Gere is one of those guys who has become more handsome to me as he's aged, kind of like George Clooney.  Ever since DH has worn his very graying hair in a long style, he's been told several times that he looks like Richard Gere.  I don't know about that.

I'm sorry to hear the report for Bugsy wasn't more positive.  I think with the great care and healthy lifestyle he has with you, Karen, his pain can be managed very well to minimize his discomfort.

I'm sitting at home waiting for the dryer repair guy to get here.  I'm hoping it's a fairly cheap repair; I'm not keen on buying a new dryer.  But, it is 10+ years old, so I suppose it may be at the end of its useful life.  They don't make things to last like they used to.

I forgot to send calming vibes to Gabby (and to Jackie!) for today's vet visit!

    Tracy:

I work at a large international airport.  When VIPs fly in, we provide a police escort for them so I get to meet a lot people.  Richard (I'm on a first name basis with him now -lmao) was traveling with the Dalai Lama for his visit to NYC.

    @tacran

That's funny you asked.  After the CO introduced me to Richard, I said to him "you must be so tired of geeks like me asking to take a picture with you".  He was so nice and said something to the effect of "no, don't worry about it - do you want me to hug you or just stand next to you?  Of course I opted for the hug.  Anyway after chatting for a few minutes, I thanked him again and said "you have no idea how lucky my husband is going to get tonight"  so he started cracking up and said "see - you're not a geek, you're funny" !!

So anyway, for the rest of day I was walking around telling everyone that Richard Gere doesn't think I'm a geek.  Which, of course, makes me the biggest geek on earth.

Oh Deb, you are cracking me up!  A friend of mine spent some time chatting with Richard Gere at an airport once.  They were both waiting to go through security.  She had her cuter than cute Jack Russell with her and Richard (I feel I can call him that now that two of my friends are his besties) said what a cute dog and so on.  It probably didn't hurt that my friend is a beautiful woman who draws stares every where she goes. lol  If it had been me, I'd have tripped over my own feet and dropped the dog and then knocked over Richard trying to get my dog back.  Yeah, I'm that gracious.

Gabby was her usual scaredy girl self at the Vets but with lots of treats and a gentle, patient vet and vet tech we got everything done.  They even did her anal glands which Gabby thought was horrid beyond belief.

    • Gold Top Dog

Deb, that's a great story!  I'm so glad to hear he was nice and that he has a sense of humor.  I saw him in a documentary about dogs a while back, and he seemed genuinely kind.  It would be a real bummer to meet someone you're a fan of, only to get a rude or impatient reaction from them.  I'm betting not all VIPs are that approachable.

I have to say, I can see why you chose him for your photo op instead of the Dalai Lama.  Wink

Had I been in your shoes, I would've been a complete wreck and would never have been able to think of something clever to say.  I've had only 2 or 3 chances to address a "celebrity" up close, and in all cases I just stayed away because I knew I'd do or say something stupid.

You know, Deb, I've always wanted to write a book, but I have nothing interesting in my life to write about.  Someday if you ever want to document the fun stories about your VIP encounters, I volunteer to be your ghost writer!  Wink

Deb your crackin me up!    I would definately have gone for the hug also.

Gabby a girl just shouldn't have to go thru that kind of stuff....

((Karen))  As long as the Bugsy boy continues to wake you up for walks at 5:30 in the morning I would say he is coping with the pain right now and he will set the pace in the future.

Well said, Ginger and I agree.  I understand why you're upset Karen and I would be too but Bugsy is a lucky dog.  He can walk and he can swim and he can run zoomies.  All because you've gone that extra step every time to get him as healthy as possible.  Pain is a part of life for all of us as we age.  I think dogs are better equipped to handle chronic pain as they don't have the emotional baggage of feeling sorry for themselves.  More hugs for you and kisses for Bugsy.

Lol what a great story deb! I lol at you saying your dh was going to get lucky haha! That's great. Nice photo too. He certainly is handsome. He also just looks like a normal guy. If I were walking through an airport I probably wouldn't even give him a 2nd glance and wouldn't know it was him.

With regards to clooney I used to think he was hot then I saw him in a movie where he was basically naked. Can't remember the movie but it had a lot of sex scenes that were obviously supposed to be about showing off his bod. Let me just say that his bod was so gross looking! It turned me off him forever. That's not to say he isn't handsome because he is but I don't want to see him naked lol.

    Bummer about b.

I went shoe shopping today which I desperately needed. I also went work clothesshopping last night. None of my fall/winter clothes from last year fit so I basically need a whole new wardrobe. This is a good thing because I lost weight but bad because it is very expensive! I have a lot of house fixes I need to get done too. It is hard to afford it all.
