I just had a very boring turkey sandwich for a late lunch.  You guys are making me drool with all the talk about lasagna, pulled pork, BBQ'd chicken and burgers, etc.  Count me in if there's a group crashing Cathy's festivities on Sunday!

Julie, I'm surprised there isn't already a line of cards with some of the sentiments you described!  There was a line of cards geared towards busy, exhausted new Moms, and I remember thinking some of the snarky (but true) lines in them were hilarious.  I prefer funny cards myself -- giving and receiving -- compared to mushy ones.

Speaking of cards, I'm a committed thank you card/note writer.  My mother made us write thank you notes for every gift we received as kids.  It didn't take me long to recognize the benefit of writing my grandmother a thank you note when she sent me birthday gifts or money.  After she received my thank you note, she'd send me a note thanking me for my note, and she'd put another $5 or $10 in it.  I sensed a pattern and was devoted to thank you notes after that!  Wink

More seriously, having lived 3,000 miles from family and friends most of my adult life, I've had to mail dozens of gift boxes over the years.  It bugs me to not get at least an acknowledgement of a gift's arrival.  I'm not picky -- doesn't have to be a card -- an email or call will do.  I just want to make sure it didn't get lost somewhere.

The sun is peaking out this afternoon -- I may have to wear sunglasses on my drive home!

Glenda, get some corn dogs and put the stick in the lasagna...cut it down if you have to!

LOL!!  Marty, you've got me rolling on the floor with the corn dogs!

    good gracious Jackie, how cynical!!

I think that thank you cards are important - especially since many times weddings are so chaotic etc. and some people send gifts but don't attend. Let the poor person know you received the gift!

I am away from home again - been away since Tuesday, finally home tomorrow. Poor B was sad to see Mom go on Tuesday morning and was a mess when he saw me load my suitcase. He was sure he was coming with me Indifferent Oops, not this time B!
I did laugh when DH told me this morning that it was pouring rain and B wanted out, he looked out the window a minute later and B was running zoomies in the rain. I so love that dog!

I have a plan for B should something happen but I know that no one really wants to take him - he's a big fella and still nuts. Tough combo for a normal person but I am confident someone would step up

I am watching House Hunters, part of me admires people choosing to live in a third world county and another part of me thinks they are nuts

Thats all - its fairly miserable weather here - unusual for Oct but September was fabulous and very October like. I wonder if we are in for a longer period of poor weather than usual for the winter.

I am training the same thing over and over and at this point I am soooooooo  bored. I have to be careful to not get to sarcastic and joking about it as is my wont when I get bored

Cathy pulled pork in the crockpot is a great party meal

OK I am going to figure out something to eat. Is cheese Pringles and white wine a meal?

Karen, I hope you know I was just writing a card for people who shouldn't be marrying, like the ones Julie described.  It would be satisfying to send something like that, when appropriate, but I doubt I'd have the nerve.  lol I wanted to send something similar to a family member recently.  Enjoy your Pringles and wine.  Ick!
