    As used in a sentance

Sentance? Are you sure hoary is the correct adjective?

    ***covers eyes just in case***

    • Gold Top Dog

    From the Urban Dictionary:

    1. sentance

The improper spelling of sentence by a high strung person, normally a Republican.

So, I really don't see what's wrong with it, but you probaby should cover your eyes just in case.

Deb, I'm not falling for your trap.  I know you just want to get me red inked or banned in revenge because you got kicked out of twerking class.

So you're a high strung, hoary Republican?  You should run for office.  In Jersey you'd be a shoe in.

Hey, speaking of Jersey.  Did anyone see Snookie on DWTS?  She's about four feet tall and her dance partner can't understand a word she says. lol  JK. She's actually pretty cute.  I don't remember if she can dance or not. I'd never actually seen her before.  They call her Snookcole on the show.  There's also a really hot guy on this season but I can't remember his name.  Valerie Harper is on and you can tell she is tired of everyone talking about her cancer but what did she expect?.  She said she's lived nine months past her expiration date. Once a comedian always a comedian.  I'm so old I remember her from the Mary Tyler Moore show.

The coworker is off to his deer lease today so Gabby and I have the office to our selves.  She's sleeping and I wish I was too.

Deb, have a drink so you don't get hoary on someone.

    Somebody beat me to it:

Chris Christie, the New Jersey governor and serious contender to be the 2016 Republican presidential candidate, has undergone secret stomach surgery in a bid to lose weight.

    I don't get it  . . . . I understand every word she says.

I'll drink my pancakes today, thank you very much !!

    Whipped Cream

    Cinnamon to garnish

Mix the Cinnamon Schnapps and Irish Cream.

Top with whipped cream and lightly dust with cinnamon if desired.

Ok, you're back in twerking class.  Set me up with a short stack of those drinks. :)

Deb, we should go on the road.  I set you up perfectly for those. Big Smile

    • Gold Top Dog

You guys should go on the road. You're hilarious!! I'll take a short stack of those drinks too. Yum!!

My boss surprised me by being in the office today. He's got a big meeting here at 3 too, so I'm glad I don't look too sloppy.

It was in the mid-50s this morning and I was freezing. I wanted to stay in the hot shower for a veryyyyyy long time and I'm dreading how I'll feel when we're in the mid-30s. I know the wood burning stove is going to be cozy but it's on the other side of the house. I may have to camp in the family room for a few months. There's a shower near there too, so I'd be all set :)

I wish I could think of some funny comment about a hoary whore, but I'm not as witty as you guys are!

It was cold here this AM, too.  It's been that way for the past 3 or 4 days; I finally resorted to putting the heat on in the house.  Ruby immediately parked herself in front of the floor vent so she could bask in the warm air.  That girl loves to be warm.

Her tummy issues were short-lived.  She was bounding around last night with extra exuberance.  DH and I were talking about how her demanding energy can really drive us insane sometimes, but when she was so blah the night before, we felt really sad.  It was nice to see her leaping and zooming with joy again.

I think I mentioned having to go to a new software system at work a couple months ago.  Believe it or not, I'm still struggling to master many new tasks and processes.  Our only help is from the occasional conference call with a consultant.  We had 90 minutes with her this AM, and after all that we only crossed 3 or 4 items our "issues list" --- and we added a couple more.

Yes, part of it is my old age learning curve, but I consider myself to be a fairly bright person with years of different accounting software experiences.  So, it's way more than just my thick head.  Even my boss agrees that the consultant, while she really knows her stuff, is a poor trainer or "explainer."  If she were sitting with us at our desks for a solid week, it would be better, but it's a lot of trial and error until we get her on the phone every 2 weeks.  Today I almost felt like I could cry when we hung up; I was so overwhelmed.

There's some sun out today (dwindling down to few days of it left this year), so I'm going to take a quick walk to the post office now.

Tracy - I'm so glad Ruby is feeling better. I know exactly what you mean about their exuberance and missing it when they're sick. Shane was really Mr. sadface the first few days we were home. I kept telling myself he was probably tired from being at HM but I know it was more because he felt crappy and that made me feel crappy. He's getting better each day though and last night was back to being obnoxious for attention :). I'm going to try using his kong for meals starting tomorrow. It's the only way to burn off some of his energy.

I hope things get easier with the new software system too. I haven't had to learn a new program in ages. I think I'd be in big trouble trying to learn one now.

Speaking of...DH takes the written test for engineer tomorrow, so if you can spare a few "pass" vibes, please send them along. He's been studying for months but there's 7 or 8 different books they pull material from, so he's had to studying them all. If he passes, he'll take the practical test in October and that's even harder. They only test every 2 years, so it's a very big deal and he wants to be an engineer badly.

Tracy, I'm glad Ruby's tummy upset was short lived.  Boo hiss to software consultants who don't know how to train.  I'm going to have to be learning some new stuff soon and I hope I don't have too much trouble with it.  I've been reduced to tears at times when I felt frustrated about something like that.

Cathy, I keep meaning to ask how Shane's doing?  Did his diarrhea go away and is he done with the antibiotics?

    • Gold Top Dog

    @cakana
last night was back to being obnoxious for attention

That description fits Ruby to a T!

Cathy, by "engineer" are you referring to a different type of role within his firefighting job, or is your husband changing careers to engineering?  I've never heard of an engineer connected to firefighting, but does it have something to do with designing plans and strategies to handle fires in large structures or something like that?

Back on the topic of dogs feeling unwell, my friend called last night to tell us she came home from work to find her Boxer had eaten about 2 pounds of raw boneless chicken breasts that she'd left thawing on the counter.  I refrained from pointing out that it's unwise to defrost meat like that, but I told her dogs aren't at risk for things like salmonella the way humans are and that since it was boneless and with little fat, he'd probably be okay.  He's a horrible counter surfer and has eaten many things, but this was the worst.  Today he's okay, but she said he had some rather unpleasant potty breaks last night!

    @JackieG
I've been reduced to tears at times when I felt frustrated about something like that.

Why does frustration about things like that elicit the urge to cry???  I hate to think it's a female thing, but it is my initial reaction in such situations.  I don't actually cry (especially with a boss or coworkers around), but that's what I feel like doing.  I don't know if it's feeling stupid or not being in control when you're normally a very competent worker or what . . . there's some kind of psychology at work there.  I don't remember feeling that way when I was a student and struggling with a particular lesson, but that was decades ago, so maybe I felt the same way.

    • Gold Top Dog

Tracy, I'm glad your friend's Boxer is ok.  Since Belle is more than happy to counter surf we're pretty careful never to leave food within her reach.

I don't think there's anything wrong with feeling the urge to cry.  I do think females are more likely to cry than men.  Probably part of our nature and also part of the difference between how boys and girls are raised.  I cry at the drop of a hat unless something is really traumatic and then I shut down.

Cathy, good vibes for the engineering test your DH is facing.

    • Gold Top Dog

I wish I could cry easily.  When my Dad died, I had to go into the bathroom to be alone to shed tears.  When my sister died, I was my Mom's "rock" and put the tears off until 'later'.  Later never came.  I DID cry like a girl at Mike's memorial service, and every once in awhile I still get damp eyes when something is said that reminds me of loosing Mike, but for the most part, I'm disgustingly dried eyed.  I honestly do envy those who can just let the tears flow.
