Not needed for jury duty today. Score! Again :) It's a good thing because I have a deadline I am working against and I get to work from home today which means I will get it all done without interruption!

I will never complain about being summoned for jury duty again.

I OD'd on homemade chocolate chip cookies last night. My tummy still hurts. Crying

Julie, glad you're getting lots done.  I don't know how I'd do working from home.

I do remember when I was on a federal jury it was almost three weeks during our busiest time of year at work.  It was interesting but also hours and hours of boredom.  When I got back to work it was a mess.

Tina, sorry you're suffering from cookie overdose.  I've had a few of those tummy aches.  It seems worth it at the time when they're warm from the oven.  Now I want homemade cookies.

Gabby escaped her crate last night.  I guess it wasn't latched properly. She was sleeping on DH's side near the foot of the bed.  I never knew she was there but he said it woke him up and he didn't sleep well trying to shove her over.  I would have gotten up and put her back in the crate.  I'm without mercy when it comes to dogs disturbing my sleep. lol

I've been called for jury duty SO many times -- then by the time I take off work, blah blah .... I sit in the box and because I'm a legal asst. one side always WANTS me and the other side does NOT *lol*.  I've only been "picked" once and we sat all afternoon jawing and they settled before we got to hear anything.

It's rare that I sleep til my alarm rings ... but this morning I did ... and I discovered something.  The alarm "rings" a whole lot better when you turn it **ON**???

And of course it's a week when I'm so beyond slammed (*&* David and I both have worked late every night so we've had to take turns making sure ONE Of us gets home to let the pups out).

Feel better, Tina -- feeling bad from chocolate is just one of those things that should never happen!!

    • Gold Top Dog

lol @ Gabby. Silly dog just wants to sleep with her humans.

Cookie OD is not good. I hope your stomach calms down soon!

I applied to be part of this training program at work and was accepted. But it had a deadline for homework I had to meet in order to graduate from the program. Because I got so slammed at work, the training program fell by the wayside and I was soooo disappointed that I wasn't going to pass and would have to re-apply and re-take it. Well, I pushed hard to get other things done so I could focus on getting the homework done for the program yesterday and today and I did it!!!! wohoo! I am so dang proud of myself for slamming it out of the ball park. What a load off my back. Now I can take a quick break and move on to the next deadline, which I am already behind on as well. There is just too much work to do.

Hope your tummy feels better Tina. Shane says he'd be happy to share some of his medicine with you :)

My friend called a bit ago and her MRI results showed nothing to worry about. Whew!!!!

I slept like a log last night too. Shane sleeps at the foot of our bed and his favorite spot is where DH's legs would go. It'll drive DH crazy, so he puts a pillow there to keep Shane in the center of the bed.

I'm hoping the Flagyl will help with Shane's diarrhea. He's at work with me today and didn't poop before we left the house, so I'll find out when we go for a walk. No place for a bath around here, so it better not be too bad :(

    • Gold Top Dog

Cathy, good news about your friend's kidney test results!  I hope the news is also good when you take Shane on his "business walk" today!

I wish I could say I slept like a log.  After nearly no sleep the night before and the 4AM drive to the airport yesterday morning, followed by a bleary eyed afternoon at work, I was almost stumbling over myself with exhaustion.  Got to bed early . . . then tossed and turned until after midnight.  I'm going to start keeping a sleep diary.  I think I have significant sleep issues at least 5 nights a week.  I'm really tired of it (figuratively and literally).

Bummer about the chocolate chip cookie belly ache, Tina.  But, there's some consolation knowing it was due to something so tasty, as opposed to a nasty flu bug or bad mayonnaise!  Wink

Speaking of tummy issues:  when we got home from work, Ruby seemed unusually subdued.  She had to be coaxed to eat dinner (that has never happened before), and she was whining quietly while we were getting our dinner ready.  We let her outside, we cuddled her, then assumed she was just reacting to my Mom and our friend being gone.  But then she threw up her entire dinner, undigested.  She spent the night curled up under her blanket -- she didn't even go for a walk.  She slept well and ate normally this AM, so hopefully she's okay.  She ate a bit of cat poop on Monday, so maybe it was a delayed reaction to that.

Julie, can you send me some of that productive work energy you've got going there?  I'm dragging and cannot get motivated to work on what I really must focus on today.  Combination of being so tired and the work being something rather complicated.  Ugh.

    • Gold Top Dog

Tracy - I hope it was just a passing thing for Ruby and she's feeling better. Loss of appetite is always so worrisome. I also hope you get some much needed sleep tonight. I'd only slept poorly the night before last and I was feeling like you yesterday.I can't imagine 2 nights of little sleep.

Well, I have no idea what to think but I took Shane for a walk and coaxed as much as I could but he never pooped. Normally he'll poop at home before we leave but can always manage to poop again on our walk. To have not gone at all today seems very strange but my worry meter is out of juice, so I'm not gonna stress about it.

I just got a request for contact info for a former student of ours. It's from a probation officer and he wants me to give him the student's parent's SS# and Driver's license #s. Doesn't that seem odd? The student is 19, so it's not like she's a minor and thankfully I don't even have that info or really any info that he wants.

    • Gold Top Dog

Cathy, that is a very odd request for the former student. Hmm

My tummy is feeling better, thanks everyone. It was more likely the buttery, sugary combo than the chocolate chips. My DS always adds a bit of sour cream to the cookie dough which makes the cookies stay soft, but it also adds to the richness. I love cookies, but obviously need to control myself a little better. Embarrassed

Tracy, I did see your post yesterday about the hornet's nest you dealt with. I will keep that in mind and call a professional if I think it's beyond my capabilities. I'm not allergic to bee stings, but a massive amount of them at once could be a different story.

I hate it when I don't get enough sleep. After about 3 days in a row of little sleep, I am a bear.

Hopefully Shane and Ruby are feeling better.

    • Gold Top Dog

Tina, the buttery/sugar combo can definitely do a number on one's digestive track.  I've felt the results of that "lack of willpower" myself . . . including during the past 2 weeks while my Mom and our friend were here.  I couldn't resist the cookies and treats that seemed to be everywhere during the visit!

I agree that request sounds fishy, Cathy.  You hate to be paranoid, but with all the clever ways people try to scam personal info, you assume the worst when you hear things like that.

I keep forgetting to add the time to my posts.  It's a little early for lunch, but my leftover pasta is calling me, so I'm going to eat it now -- it's 11:45 PST!

    • Gold Top Dog

i would never ever give out someone's ss # and/or driver's license #! You're right to be suspicious. That sounds like identity theft in the making.

    • Gold Top Dog

I'm going to completely ignore the request for info. The student left 3 yrs ago, so they need to fish for information somewhere else.

I got an email from one of our teachers. She was driving and using a voice recognition program. I know this isn't even close to what she meant to say - LOL!!! -

....the see you there in able to find it is there a possibility you could you could make a new one to ship it often should I be at the disco I have no clue what happened cuz I was in the bathroom how in Shane doing

    • Gold Top Dog

    @cakana
. . . should I be at the disco I have no clue what happened cuz I was in the bathroom

Hahaha!  That's hilarious!  I wonder what the heck she really said for it to translate into that???  I thought the auto-correct on DH's iPad was annoying (substituting "zombies" when I write "zoomies";), but the voice thing could create all kinds of misunderstandings.  Someone should start collecting funny ones for a book!

    • Gold Top Dog

LOL at that voice recognition message you got Cathy.  When DH and I first got our smartphones he loved to send me messages using that and they were ridiculously garbled. Naturally I made him stop. lol

Tracy, there is a hilarious page on FB about auto corrected messages. Some of them are hilarious but many can't be repeated on a family friendly site.  Another funny one is so called texts from dogs.  Yes, FB can be very entertaining.

Julie, congrats on getting your homework done and getting into the training program at work. You deserve a big pat on the back!

I should've known someone would've already thought of that.  Silly me, being so late to the game with my idea.  And to make it worse, I suggested the collection go into a BOOK, instead of something more high-tech like a social media site!  Just one more example of how far behind I am 99% of the time!  Tongue Tied

I bet the dog texts are really funny.  I wonder if it's a public FB page that I can see?
