    Mindless Wednesday 9-18

Wow is it really the 18th already? Time flies! I wonder if paragraph breaks will work this time. Tonight is our article test wish us luck! My thermostat decided to croak last night. No battery in there as far as I can tell. So i will be calling the repair guy today. The furnace needs serviced anyway to the timing is good... That is if the timing is ever good for spending several hundred dollars. Especially considering I just purchased a Garmin dog gps so I will always know where abbie is on searches. That set me back around $500. Ouch. She is worth it though right? I really need to stop making big purchases for a while.

Gah. Damn paragraph breaks. That is incredibly frustrating

Good luck with the article test tonight, Julie.  Also, good luck with the thermostat/furnace.  Maybe it won't be too expensive to fix and service.

The sunrises and sunsets have been gorgeous here lately because of the clouds.  It's still warm here but there's that feel in the air that soon we'll have some cooler weather.

The flooding in CO and the storm damage in Mexico is terrible.

I watched a show about king crabs last night.  Pretty interesting.  Before that I was watching a show about Wallace who would have beat out Darwin with publishing the theory of evolution if he hadn't been off in the wilds of Indonesia.  Pretty fascinating stuff.  I remember reading about him years ago but had kind of forgotten that whole rivalry, if you can call it that.

Julie, yes she is worth it...good luck tonight.

We got a small amount of rain last night.  Woohoo!  We really needed it, they say we have  a few more chances this week with a cool down Friday.

I know the bikers wont care for the rain but they will love the cooler temps

    The Bloody Masterpiece

Is that a bacon cheeseburger on top of that Bloody Mary? Why yes, yes it is. And if that's not enough, it comes with a beer back.

    Why ???  Duh  . . . . it's National Cheeseburger Day.

Chilly bike ride into work this morning. Not many more biking days left between the cold temps and waning daylight.

Busy here. It seems to have piled up on me.

Methinks I see the time on top of Ginger's post next to the date? Maybe it's only visible when one is editing a forum thread.

Good looking drink Deb. I'll take one w/the bacon cheeseburger!

Ok have you ever heard the saying "Grandma's slow but she is old"  ?  Well my dad used it often on me when I was being pokey.

Now I think of it everytime I cant catch on to something new, lol!  Well I had asked about Spiritual Circle a while back,  I just found it, lol.   It is now titled  "Support Network" and it is under the Life Stages heading.  Jonathan are you here????  Never mind about my question about where.....but I am wondering since we usually used it for people and dogs maybe it should be under a different heading....just a thought.

Hi everyone!! I missed you all. I couldn't figure out how to log on from the laptop we took. Maui was gorgeous but hot and humid (more so than usual). I know DH's dad loved having his family there for his H.S. Centennial celebration and we all spent a lot of time together, so I know he also enjoyed that. I found myself feeling bored and restless though and looked forward to getting home. We both missed Shane like crazy and couldn't wait to pick him up last night. When we got there, he seemed happy to see us and fine but as soon as we got in the car, DH said "wow, he stinks!!" I noticed it too but after a bit, I realized it wasn't his coat it was his breath. When we got home, I gave him some water to drink and he gulped it up but what was splashing out had a tinge of blood in it. He walked away and was pawing at the side of his face. I laid him down and looked at his mouth but couldn't see anything super obvious. There was one tooth that looked unusually brownish though, so I'm thinking maybe a slab fracture or abscess. We have an appt in about an hour and I hope whatever it is, they can take care of today. Poor guy paced much of the night, so DH got up with him. We're all dead tired.

In addition to that unhappy homecoming, we opened the garage door and were hit with the stench of rotting food. Then we saw the stream of bloody yuck coming from under our chest freezer. Apparently a circuit had tripped and based on the smell, I'm guessing it happened shortly after we left. It took everything I had to keep from losing it while pulling the yuck out of there. Then we had to take the whole chest outside and hose it out and rinse it with bleach and water. Yeah, so, it wasn't the best first night home and we're both super tired. After I take Shane to the vet, I have to go into work and find out how many piles of work are waiting for me :(

    So, how's everyone else doing?

Cathy, sounds like a stinky mess in the garage. Ugh.  I hope Shane's ok.  Poor pup. Poor you guys too.  It's too bad you've got to go into the office today.  It stinks when vacations don't turn out to be very much fun and all you want to do is get home.  Then to have all that to deal with just makes me want to take you out for a drink and a chat.  Sending lots and lots of vibes for Shane.

ETA:  I don't see the time anywhere except now when I'm editing I see it in Cathy's post.  Weird Al.

    • Gold Top Dog

Cathy I am so sorry that you had to come home to a mess.  Poor Shane I hope the Vet gets him all fixed up.  Sending lots of feel better vibes for Shane and the whold family.

    • Gold Top Dog

    Oh no, Cathy !!

    Not the best of homecomings.

I hope poor Shane is ok.  Keep us posted.

    I am home today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh only until about 4 when I hit the road again until Friday evening.

The weather is gorgeous so that's a plus I suppose

I took my furry baby to the fields this morning and he got to run wild and go to his secret little area of the lake. We were both happy.

Cathy I am sorry to hear about Shane and your freezer :(

Jackie I had forgotten about that rivalry too! I will try to watch that show when its on - or should I say when I have any idea what is on TV

My mom arrives on Tuesday, my house is trashed, I haven't been home and when I have I have not been cleaning, DH has been a pia with regard to the cleaning so I am sure we'll have a bit of a confrontation this weekend when I assign him some chores Angry

Other than that I am tired and constantly on the go - the hotel I am using is very nice though and the staff are fabulous.

My sessions have been mostly good..............focus on the mostly. The schedule is constantly screwed up which is unnecessary but I am not in control of it so I have to deal with the silliness

That's all I've got - I need to get ready to hit the road

I tried to update to iOS7 but it isn't working right now - I hope its done before I leave

So, Shane has ulcers on the soft palate and the vet thinks it's likely due to him chewing on something abrasive, such as a pine cone or stick. Normal treatment would be pred but because of Shane's heart, she didn't want to use that. So antibiotics and Tramadol. She didn't want to use Rimadyl because she's not sure how far down the esophagus the ulcers go and doesn't want to give him something that might make them worse. Pepcid AC also to help keep things calm and comfy in the throat and tummy. She was super happy that there wasn't a fractured tooth and said she'd been stressing  at the thought of having to do surgery on him. DH met me there and took Shane home and hopefully they're both resting. I was happy to get here and find that my coworker had done above and beyond what I'd expected and I only have small piles of work. :)

    • Gold Top Dog

Good thoughts for Shane's speedy recovery, Cathy. Glad you only had a little work when you got to the office.

Okay, the time thing, when you reply or add to a thread and use rich formatting, you can see the date and time as well as the user above the post. Once you submit, the time is no longer displayed. (I'd do a screen shot, but am not technically advanced enough.)
