    Tuesday (begun 8-17-13 11:00 a.m.)

Amazed I'm the only one here.

I'm slammed at work but hey I have a job so I'm not complaining.

Everyone seems to be so annoyed about this or that "view" -- I could care less.  I'd just like a list of what's been posted in the last 24 hours if we're not going to get an email on   everything posted.  Just somewhere that's a "list" if nothing more.

But I have to say -- those of us who posted during the last web changeover- -- everyone hated THAT as well, and a lot of people "left" -- but NO ONE CARED on the company end ... no one asked input, no one tried to fix things to please *anyone*.  They just told us they "couldn't" or ignored requests ... I guess I'm impressed that folks are listening and trying to make changes while still having their plate full fixing the bugs in the beta version so when the final thing goes up it will work.

And trust me -- as soon as people get wind of something like Secret Santa stuff a bunch of folks will likely come back & start posting.  That's annoyed the crap out of me -- to see people only pop in **only** for a couple of months and then just wander back to FB when the boxes have been exchanged.

I'm here.  I just didn't feel like posting in NDR.  Posted in a few other threads.

It is nice that TPTB are asking for input.

We had some nice rain showers yesterday and more are forecast for the next few days.

The street our office is on will be closed to thru traffic for the next couple of months.  There's a flood control project going on.  It will be nice to not have to deal with the cars zooming past when I try and back out of our parking area.

I've pointed out some bugs several times and asked specific questions on if there are plans for fixing those bugs but never got a response.

Jackie how are you finding other threads? Without going through every forum?

The boy from our last search was located by divers yesterday in the location our dogs indicated. Very sad. I feel for what the family went through. It was mass chaos with hundreds of people involved and a ton of agencies from the corrections department to various emergency response teams, the fbi, several police departments, etc. Not to mention the media. I was hoping we would find him alive but when the dogs hit in the water, I felt we had our answer. It was a waiting game at that point.

Abbie is supposed to have her article test tomorrow night if the weather cooperates. I went around my office yesterday asking co-workers to give me their clothes so Abbie and I could practice last night and tonight. I got some weird looks and a lot of laughs. One girl gave me the shirt she had been wearing all day (changed into a gym shirt) and said she was just thankful I didn't ask for her underwear lol

@jewlieee We record all the feedback on bugs and issues people post.

It does take us some time to fix bugs and even address issues. I can assure you that we read everything. in answer to your question, you can click on the big DOG.com logo at the top of the screen, which takes you to the grid (some people call it the sticky post view) and then click on the Content drop down and select All Forums and then it will just display all the threads that have been created or updated. We're working on a way of reducing the steps.

@calliecritturs. Thanks for your post. We've spent around 11 months on the new site and it has been an awful lot of work - but it's far from finished. The funny thing about developing a site like this is you will always struggle to please everyone. That said, we are committed to listening and addressing all the feedback we can and indeed, we're shortly going to post about all the changes we're making to make it better for you all.

The headline is that we will make it easier to find and post to discussion forums as well as see what's being posted.

We're really happy to hear everyone's feedback and to address as much as we practically can. We know we've changed something you guys were used to; all I ask is that you bear with us as we continue to improve the experience.

And in case you're wondering why we are asking the questions and listening to the feedback. Well, it's simple, we hope that all you guys will tell your fellow pet parents about us and invite them to use the site too!

    Keep giving us the feedback.

Julie, very sad about that boy. I wondered if your group's teams were involved.

Nice day here, cool this morning, sunny this afternoon.

IMO, this changeover is much more drastic than it was when we went from idog to dog.com. I don't need everything "my" way, but I am entitled to my opinion. Gradual change is much easier for me.

Up to my eyeballs in work. The fun never ends.

    Me too, Jewlz.

I keep asking about deleting old mail messages all at once and having a "preview" option so you can see what your posts are going to look like before they are actually published so you can correct errors, typos, see if your pictures are showing up, etc.

Anyway  . . . . I was running around last night and caught a glimpse of the news.  Seeing all those rescued dogs walking off the National Guard helicopter in Colorado made my day.

It's National Apple Dumpling Day.  I think I'll have some Vodka to celebrate.

Deb -- you can edit a post immediately if you see a typo.  (Which makes it easier for those of us who get driven crazy having to "preview" **before** we can post -- sounds like it's one of those "they can't win" things).

Probably one of the biggies with me is if I don't get a notification of everything that gets posted by emails, then I just want ONE place to go for a list of what's been posted in **all** the different forums (or in different forums I've signed up to be aware of).

In other words, something very similar to the "site digest" that comes email daily -- but I don't just want to see yesterday (and have to wait until today to see that) -- but somewhere I can click into that just shows me everything that's been posted to all the various forum topics in the last day, 2 days, or whatever.  So I can check it in the morning or on lunch or more frequently if I'm monitoring something in particular.

Except we didn't  ***HAVE*** to "preview" before posting- it was an option we could use only if we wanted to.  The other day, I posted a series of pictures and some people saw all of them and some people didn't.  I would just like to see what a post is going to look like before I publish it.  Also, my computer at work is slower than dirt and by the time I can get back into a post to edit it, everybody probably already saw my stupid mistakes and were getting ready to pat me on the head.

@Deb W. We're going to be bringing back Post Preview when we go live. But it won't force you to do it. It will be an option. The picture issue was not a problem with the site to be honest. We all saw your great pictures.

I'd also hope that people would be forgiving of a few typos. I know I'm making them all the time at the moment :-(

    Yeah, I don't know  . . . . these people can be ruthless.

    Deb W.

    • Gold Top Dog

Deb - -they can't be ruthless with you -- cos you are "the Drink Lady" and without YOU we'd never make it til Friday!

And you have to realize -- it's not YOUR mistake that they didn't see.  It's the Gremlins.  They did it. They just made it blank with that little icon thingamy in the middle.

Altho Tinkerbell might tell you that it could also be a complete and utter lack of Fairy Dust.

According to Tink -- that is just THE saddest thing of all ...  She'll send you some if you need it.

(Trust me -- we could use a little LESS at my house!)

    LOL!

Julie I am sorry to hear about the boy, so sad for his family.  Another good example of why SAR is so important.  Good job to your team.

Every where around us got rain yesterday but not our little valley :( we could use some.  I hope that all the folks in CO are still catching a break....

Does anyone know if Cathy is in Hawaii yet?

Bikes, Blues and BBQ begins in Fayetteville tomorrow thru Saturday.  The will be a major boost in Motorcycle traffic ,  not to mention a huge economical boost to our little part of the world.   We will stay close to home but here at the office we will see all the bikes roll in from the West.  There are a fair amount already arriving today.   VROOOOMMMM!

    • Gold Top Dog

woohoo!  I finally got my Avitar to change....it still wont take the picture I was trying to use  but this is a picture of Me and Shadow when he was 2.  That is way better the the generic picture :).

    • Gold Top Dog

How sad about the boy.  His family will be in my prayers.

I know that TPTB are putting a lot of time and effort into the forum, but I really dislike the cloud backdrop.  It makes it harder for my old eyes to focus in.  I too get frustrated with the near constant changes, but, I guess things are still evolving.  The changeover last time around sucked too.
