This is a beta, tell them what still isn't working

    ok here we go:

for phone browsing I am using and android platform and running Dolphin browser.

Other than that, here is what I have seen in my extremely limited time trying to get to threads. For the comments below, I am on my computer using a firefox broser

    1. When I first come to dog.com and click on the forum button, I am brought to a screen that says choose your category - this lists 3 headings, with various subheadings then at the bottom I have to click the arrow button, or pages 2 or 3, to see the rest of the forum headings that dog.com has to offer. It does not show all the forum headings on one page. Why do I have to click through pages to get the rest of the forum pages? They should be all listed on one page.

    2. When I click on the subheading "general chat" it takes me to a 2nd subheading titled general chat. This lists a whole lot of very old threads from 2009 and so on, all from rwbeagles - nobody else. If i try to sort to newest threads, nothing happens. So, I go above and click on the 1st general chat heading (again, there are 2  - hard to describe what it looks like. It says HOME > NEWS & ENTERTAINMENT > GENERAL CHAT > GENERAL CHAT. I would post a pic, but I can't do that either. Anyhow, if I click on the first general chat, to back up a forum, I then see the new threads in a sticky note type column format.

    3. The sticky note column format is awful. FB tried it for a brief time, remember that? It was so bad and users hated it so much that it was one of the things they backed off on. Aside from not having any dates and they seem pretty randomly placed, our eyes aren't really trained to work that way to seek out information on the internet. It's chaotic.

    4. The 64kb limit on attachments is unusable. (I think I already mentioned that but wanted to get it in this list)

    5. "posts not read" (Or new threads?) doesn't work

    6. Unanswered threads just lists all of the forum rules - that's pretty useless.

    Thanks!

Just ditto-ing the comments that it is 1) very slow on Firefox 2) this size limit on pics is hard stay below 3) general chat > general chat is confusing 4) all the old threads showing up even though it is supposed to be sorting by "recent"

I'm slowly figuring out how to find stuff, but at first glance it isn't easy to see how to navigate.  Will definitely take some getting used to.  I do think its much easier to upload pictures so that is nice.

Is there a way (maybe I'm just missing it) to jump to the end of a thread instead of starting at the beginning/first page every time I open it?

Is there a way to know if a thread has been responded to since the last time I read it, w/o opening it up and clicking through to the last page?

Is there a way to stay logged in?

Is there a way to delete a post? I started a new thread and decided to delete it when I saw where it was showing up.

Bring back non dog related section!

why do I have every PM ever sent to me in my mailbox? They were all deleted.

    Where are the signatures?

Rich formatting should be the default

It loads so slow I don't have time to jump on

Are there instructions some where that tell you what the heart is or the flag?

This isn't really a problem, but a suggestion. If you are at dog.com and then click the Community link at the bottom of the page, you get a blank looking "site root" page with no posts, no content, just a bunch of "sorry...." messages.  You can click the links at the top to get to the various subforums, but I think it would be wise to have some sort of content on that site root page, especially for newcomers browsing in from dog.com.

I used to love the "not read" function of the old site. that way I could keep up on new things. is there a way to set that choice on this new forum?? thanks, from old and in the way

Hi -- yes we *can* post "quotes" from other posts (if you use the "Use Rich Formatting" button) but it won't just quote the part you highlight -- it wants to quote the entire post.  That's going to be space-intensive

I still haven't been able to figure out how to just pick up a list of whatever's been posted since I was last on.  I see references on the side to that effect but I don't find out how to actually go there.  Am I missing something?

So after trying to muddle through the new site I feel like I need to put this out there: the format is so bad that I ow hardly know where to begin to tell you how to fix it . I have noticed there are barely any posts at all since the launch of this new version.  That is because there are so many layers to doing anything that it is too daunting. Can you go back to a normal tried and true forumlook where posts are easy to see and in a linear order? Btw the remember me function for logging in doesn't work.

I took a screen shot of the "2nd" General Chat page and I'm going to post it here.  I am sharing it b/c I think the look of this page seems more straight forward, I like it much better than the 2 columns of thread/post bubbles that the other pages have.

Ugh, this was a much better/informative picture but I had to crop a lot away to get to the size limit.  That is a pain.

I found one, I did a search to find certain threads. The search function worked but I couldn't click on the threads it listed.

I like to see who started the thread (other than avatar bc some people change them often).... sometimes I will read something based on the person.  Granted, I don't post here all that much anymore.  I'd love to share more pictures but that was always a pain in the butt to post them, I havent yet figured it out on the new forum.

Has anyone else noticed that you can click on a person's username and his/her profile comes up even if you are not logged in? As in, I can click on Karen's username even if I am not logged in and I can see her info. I looked at the account settings to see if I could block that, but cannot.

    @NicoleS

I'd love to share more pictures but that was always a pain in the butt to post them, I havent yet figured it out on the new forum.

Nicole, you have to use the Rich Formatting and then its the icon that is a little picture w/ a plus sign.  It's located all the way to the left in the bottom row of icons.  And then you can actually browse and upload a picture from your computer or from a URL (haven't tried doing it that way yet).  Its easy to do, but the big problem is that your picture has to be under 64 kb or it won't let you upload it, which for me means I have to crop almost every picture I take.

I'd also like to see the threads show up as one column.

I haven't figured out if there is a way to find out if there are any new posts since I last read a thread. On the previous forum, I think the title was bold if there was a new post.

I'd also like to see larger photo upload sizes. 64kb is way too small.

I never used to have to log in every time. The "Remember me" is on, but I still have to re-type my username and password. I wish I could stay logged in.
