    wet Wednesday chat

ugh soggy & sticky and rain on the way for two days Tongue Tied

Well the contract job has asked me to come in and do a training for them next week - vibes accepted Smile

That's all really. The faucet is still leaking but only slightly. We are waiting for another part that perhaps will be a better fit than the one that DH could buy from Home Depot

Listening to Eva Cassidy right now - man what a voice. I wish I could just sip coffee and listen to her but I need to move and shake  - so have a good one folks

Watching the morning news about a grass fire and I think "that looks like DH holding the fire hose". Then they pan to the fire engine and I can see the station # and sure enough, it's his station :).

Good vibes for the new contract Karen. Also sending vibes for things to dry out there. I was on the phone with my friend in Tampa last night and could hear the thunder in the background. Also saw something on the news about how the massive amounts of rain are affecting the farmers. Last year it was drought and this year it's too much rain :(

I'm up earlier than normal so I could add chlorine to the pool before the sun comes up. Hopefully the salt chlorinator will take care of this soon but we still need to add 5-6 more bags of rock salt for it to work effectively.

I asked one of the rescue groups if they wanted 2 Igloo dog houses we had and they were thrilled. They use them for the baby goats. A guy is coming by to pick them up at 9 and I'll be super happy to see them go.

Cathy, I saw that news story too about how all the massive rains in the Southeast have ruined so many crops.  :(  Being a farmer is tough.  That's neat you got to see your DH on the news though I imagine it's also a little nerve wracking.

Karen, I knew you'd started this thread based on the title. :(  Good vibes being sent from Texas for the upcoming training session. The dogs are sending virtual good luck kisses and wags.

It's another hot day here and work is busy.  Yesterday was a tough day and when I got home my head was pounding.  I sat down to watch the news but dozed off after a while.  Woke up feeling much better.  We had leftovers for dinner.  Good leftovers are one of life's little pleasures.

Gabby doesn't have her dog buddy at work today.  She's been waiting at the window for him for an hour.  She loves her Weim friend. :)

Good vibes for the contract job, Karen.

How will your DH handle the fame, Cathy? Stick out tongue

Last night Buddy went after Missy, and when I went to call him off, I yelled, "Betty!" instead of Buddy. I really don't know where that came from. Confused

It's raining here today. I wonder if our idog campers are getting the same weather north of here.

Here in MN our day started with a mist as if the clouds had descended around us, now it's just light rain.

Vibes are on their way to Karen for awesome training with lots of participation.

I'm currently at my contract job rewriting my resume for a position that I saw posted and I'm very interested in. Trying to downplay my actual job titles and focus on my talents and skills has led me to use a different type of resume than I ever have before. I'm hoping it is effective.

M&M had such a good time going to the park with a friend they already know yesterday. I'm hoping the same is true today.

Off to get some coffee. Thinking of iDogers in the UP today!

    Summer Rain

2 tender mint sprigs, plus 1 for garnish
    1 ounce simple syrup
    2 slices lime
    1 1/2 ounce vodka
    1/2 ounce pomegranate liqueur
    Splash pomegranate juice
    Splash club soda

Muddle mint, simple syrup, and lime in the bottom of a mixing glass. Add everything but soda to the glass and shake with ice. Pour into a tall glass with ice and top with soda. Garnish with lime and mint sprig.

Deb, that drink sounds delicious -- I love pomegranate juice.  I had a pom martini the other night, in fact.

Sarah, I hope you get an interview request as a result of sending your resume in for that position!

Tina, too funny about calling Buddy "Betty."  My mother calls out several names before she hits whichever one of us she wants to address (sometimes she throws a cousin's name in the mix, despite not seeing them in ages).  I catch myself doing that with friends' names sometimes.  Betty sounds so much like Buddy -- I guess your brain just hiccupped right at that second!  :-)

I'm basically all packed -- heading to the airport in an hour or so.  Nerves elevating already.  It's been a fun week, but I'm ready to get back in my own house, my own bed. my own routine.  This much time with my Mom is very trying, to say the least.  I know her most annoying behaviors always existed, but when I was younger and lived here, I guess I didn't notice them.  Age and years being 3,000 miles away changes perspective I guess.  Some of the things she does are just mildly irritating, but others are truly blood-boiling behaviors.  I honestly don't know how I came out of my childhood more screwed up than I am.  But at 75, she doesn't listen to a single word of advice or requests to try to make things more tolerable.  Oh well.  We're not a Norman Rockwell image!

Tracy, sending good vibes for your flight home.  It's always nice to visit family and even nicer to get back home, far away from the reality.  Ruby and your DH are going to be so happy to see you!

Deb, that's the perfect drink for today.

Continued good vibes for you Sarah.

Well, thanks to Deb and Google, my day has not been wasted. I now know what it means to muddle drink ingredients and what a muddler tool looks like. Geeked

All this time I thought I was doing good not breaking a nail on a beer can tab. Stick out tongue

I just always use the handle end of a large wooden spoon.  I stopped buying muddlers years ago when they always mysteriously went missisng from my kitchen every early spring.  Come to find Mr. W was taking them and using them to tamp his flower seeds into the dirt.  Sad

He must have learned from my DH how handy kitchen tools are in the yard. Surprise I kept missing kitchen scissors until I discovered he was using them to trim the grass where the weed eater would cause damage.  I bought him some garden shears but he lost them.

I went to Target just to get out of the office for a while.  Only thing I bought was chocolate.  That's good and bad.  lol

    LOL Deb!!!

I spent 2 hours working on one side of the front flower bed and really walked away feeling like it looks much better. There's a bazillion daylilies there and in a bunch of other places and they start to look nasty without some cleaning out. I'd like to have about 1/2 as many as I do but that's another project.

I feel like it was a great morning though. I took Shane for a walk about 6:30, came back and did some puttering outside. The guy picked up the dog houses about 9 (yay!!!) and I went to work on the flower beds. I happened to notice a city sewer truck cruise by slowly and then it stopped right in front of the house. 2 guys get out and I can see they're going to put a hose down into a drain directly in front of our house. I started walking towards them and one guy comes towards me waving and smiling. He says "no one's ever come out before in all the time we've been coming here". I guess he thought I was just being friendly - LOL!! but I told him about the yucky smell I thought was related to the pool and asked if it might have anything to do with the sewer lines. He called his coworker over and they both seemed concerned that it could be, so I asked if they'd come in the backyard and see if they thought the smell was related. They head back with me and for a minute, the smell was gone and I just knew they were going to think I was nutso. One guy even got down on his stomach so he could put his face near the water to smell. About that time, the smell hit and I could tell by their faces that they smelled too. They both agreed that it wasn't the water but something dead and further back, probably beyond our fence line. I was sooooo happy to hear that it wasn't a problem with the pool and thanked them profusely and apologized for bothering them. They were the nicest guys though and didn't seem to have minded at all. Where's the angel emoticon when you need it? :)

ETA - Safe travels back Tracy!!

I had a good interview today.  They're supposed to make a decision next week, hopefully.  The job has a lot of opportunity to learn/grow and help develop procedures, more so than what I was expecting (which is a great thing!). Either way, I'm happy if it gets offered to me and happy to stay where I am.  It's rather nice to be in this type of situation.  I'm pretty fortunate.

I'm bummed that the dress I bought online doesn't come close to fitting over my stupid chest.  I'm not really surprised, however.  I've never enjoyed being well endowed in that department and trying to find tops and dresses that fit just makes me more irritated with "the girls".  I contacted their customer service and their return policy is so easy (and free shipping!) and they asked me my measurements and gave me some advice and suggestions on what they thought would be a good fit and also suit my tastes.  To say I'm impressed with that level of customer service, is an understatement!

Sharon, I have the same....ummm... hurdles with clothing. What company is it?

Also, good luck and crossed fingers for the position you are applying for.

M&M had another good romp at the park with "Poodle Susan" as we call her. We have three friends named Susan and this one has 2 Standard Poodles. Apparently, Monroe went for a bit of a swim so she hosed him off with the newly installed human/k9 drinking fountain and garden hose combo. It's pretty cool. (LOL - pun not intended).

For those that don't have better things to do, here's a link with video footage of my DH fighting the grass fire. (He's holding the hose)
