    Mother's Day (Sunday) Chat

Today is a cook-on-the-grill day if the weather cooperates. We were supposed to get showers here and there yesterday--instead, it poured! And, it's raining again this morning. We need the rain, but it really messed with my mowing and gardening plans. The garden is happy (especially the weeds!).

Hugs for all who need them, and happy Mother's Day to all.

Morning! The weeds are happy here too ;p

It's in the 30s and I have to be outside all day. To think I almost put all of my winter gear away last week. Good thing I didn't. This sucks!

I would be so happy to just stay home with the dogs and do stuff around the house.

We've got nice weather here today.  Julie, 30 degrees in May is just wrong, even for MI.  Kate, sorry the rains messed up the mowing and gardening plans.

We didn't end up doing much of anything yesterday.  It was nice to relax and stay home and putter around outside.  Today I've got gardening plans and grocery shopping.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms.

I decided upon staying home this morning. I'm debating about staying home from work this afternoon, because I'm still coughing up crap. I went yesterday though. I need to make a decision in the next few minutes though. I'm leaning towards not going though.

    Happy Mother's Day!!

My niece gave birth to a baby girl yesterday and she's beautiful. They named her Laurel Abigail. They have a 3 y.o. little boy but I still think this will make Mother's Day pretty special.

I too plan to do some gardening today. It's supposed to be in the mid 90s, so I need to get going early. I want to find some new ground cover for an area and also a new chaise lounger chair pad. My car is filthy, so washing it is on the agenda too.

Quickly decided I'm staying at home and doing paperwork. I can still get paid sitting home doing paperwork, and if I cough till I puke while working at home, nobody cares.

I posted Luke up as available for the flyball tournament in June. I have two Yahoo addresses, so I used the one I didn't give to my team. Not like they couldn't find out it was me, and they probably could based on my post, but the hell with them. I need to get him a spot though, even if he's part time or back up, just out of spite. I don't care if he runs just one heat, but I need one heat. I looked into where else had tournaments that weekend. Nothing under a 10 hour drive, so I'm not going somewhere else.

I'm also still not sure where we're going to go for July. I would love to go to a tournament near Boston, if I can get him a spot there. It's near a friend who I haven't seen in two years, so that would be awesome. The other choice is Gettysburg, but I think I had decided against it due to high prices for rooms in the area.  I think I'll make him available for both, and see where I get takers.

     Happy Mother's Day moms!

My own mom wants to go out to Houlihan's which is near where I am not working (but I could go because nobody who matters would see me there, as they wouldn't ever eat there). I just don't want to today because I feel like I might cough it up today. I don't want to spend that much on food to cough it up. I'm there all the time, so I said I could meet her there after work next weekend. Hopefully she goes with it, but she was just suggesting I could get something spicy.

Mothers Day in hospital isn't all bad. Just have kids of the 4 legged variety and someone else, hubby, is having to clean litter boxes and feed the six cats and two dogs. Actually a nice little break....mostly because now I'm breathing better. Now they say not pneumonia..asthma and probably some bronchitis and because I smoked in the past they throw in COPD. Happy Mothers Day All. Enjoy.

Gosh Maureen feel better soon - to be honest they seem to call all lung issues COPD these days

Gorgeous weather here - drizzled this morning but cleared off and its mostly sunny, breezy and a nice temp

Bugsy nearly got a baby bluebird this morning - I thought it was kind of funny that mom threw it out on Mother's Day. Mostly I was glad that it was a 'nearly' and not a 'got'. I just looked for it and no sign. hoping it flew off and that it wasn't a snack for some other predator

I took B down to the fields this morning. He seems really flat this week. I don't know if he's hurting or getting depressed, seriously. His mood and mental state are so effected by activity and he must at some level feel like all these gates and leashes and no freedom means he's being punished. Anyway when I turned down the street to the fields he went (Becker)  thanks autocorrect but I typed (berserk) in the car - high pitched yelps, spinning and whining. I was quite worried to open the lift gate but he waited for me to help him out. He had a blast and is now sacked out.

Not sure what I feel like doing today - I never finished the cleaning yesterday so I have some of that to do. I need some proper exercise and I am getting bored with our dinners so I need to think up something different

Happy Mother's Day to all moms of humans, dogs, cats, fish, etc

Beautiful day today. Already above freezing. Put my wife's raised bed garden together per her description. May need to rent a dump truck to fill it. A little large, and a little deep. The tulips are blooming!!!!

Piper wanted to go for a ride instead of watch from the yard, so I opened a door on the truck and let her sit in it for a while. She seemed satisfied. At some things, she is a functional genius, at others, not so much.

I have been making small wood projects lately, as the garage warmed up enough to use the table saw. Wood boxes, chopping blocks, etc. Now that is is warm and I am enjoying the smell of saw dust, I have to work full time. Too tired and sore at the end of the day to play with the toys. I think this is the last year of working for some one else. The only reason I keep working is it is easier than the honey-do list, and I need a new set of tires for the truck.

Bugsy nearly got a baby bluebird this morning

I had a lab that could swallow baby birds whole, and would as soon as I said "drop it". He then adopted a silly grin. Piper (also known as "Wonder Dog) on the other hand, picked up a confused baby Morning Dove that walked up to her and looked up to see if Piper was ma ma. I gave the command to drop it, and Piper spit it out, wet but unhurt. The bird walked off a ways to think about it, and flew away.

Enjoy your mothers, mothers enjoy your kids

Maureen, I'm glad you're breathing better.  Saw your post last night and hoped you'd check in today.  Hope you get home soon  but not before the pet chores have been done by someone else. lol

Baby bird season is always high risk in our yard.  I hope the baby bluebird makes it ok.

I didn't get too far with it, but I started cleaning the kitchen. My mom said she was going to do it, but actually she'll be pissed off about it. I cleaned the fridge, threw out the expired stuff, took out the shelves and scrubbed them. I moved the microwave out and scrubbed the counter under it, which involved removing my mother's 50 thousand supplements from off the top. Now I'm back to coughing up crap.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms.

I guess we're all Moms -- whether it be to human kids, furkids, or both, right?!  Wink  Best wishes to everyone!

Maureen, I'm glad to hear your feeling better.  Breathing problems are scary.

Jen, sorry to hear you're still coughing.  I hope you get something worked out for Luke's activities soon.  I'm sure it's stressful for you.

Doug, isn't it frustrating how the need for new tires (or anything else requiring a paycheck) means that our time and energy gets monopolized by a pesky job, rather than on things we'd rather do?!

We're taking my MIL to a small Mexican restaurant for lunch.  None of us felt like dealing with the huge crowds at the nicer brunch places today (there's also a college graduation in town today).  She likes this little place and it's right down the road.  It's casual, so I can wear jeans and not worry about getting dressed up.

The rest of the day I'll tackle some yardwork, some ironing, some other chores.  And I'll call my Mom, of course.  We've had a couple Mother's Days together in the past 10-12 years when we've been in CT or she's been out here.  I sent her a big box of See's candy -- the whole box is only the 3 varieties that she loves.  She'll eat a couple a day and it'll last for weeks!

I have no clue what's up now, but my mom just called me all hysterical. I have no clue what's going on with my drama filled sister, but all I got from my mom was something about emergency custody. I didn't really get what my mom was saying though, but I suppose the *** with my idiot brother in law perhaps may have finally hit the fan.

Doesn't sound like a very happy Mother's Day around your house :(

Maureen - I'm so glad you're feeling better. Whew!!

Not sure why I bothered to shower and then take Shane for a walk and wash my car. I need another shower now but maybe I'll brave the pool later and save some water ;).

We looked at this house the other day and altho I love it but it's higher than we wanted to pay. DH thinks we should make an offer and being the worry-wart, I'm terrified they'll accept it http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/10030-Willey-Ct_Granite-Bay_CA_95746_M14628-60988?row=1#modal_PhotoGallery
