Up 'n at 'em Wednesday/May Day Chat

I have to work in the office today. *dramatic sigh* It really is a waste of time.

I could not get the kids to bed last night. Sonja just kept screwing around. I think she went potty like 20 times after I put her to bed. Or at least that's what she said she had to do. I think she only actually peed the first time then the rest was just playing around. I think she finally went to bed at 10:30. She is going to be soooooooooooooooooooo crabby when I have to wake her up in about 10 minutes. Indifferent

     Oh Sonja!

Bugsy is currently crying at the window because this little mini- dog named Muffin is out walking. We see her most mornings when we get the paper but missed her today. He has issues

I feel a full pot of coffee coming on.

I posted this story on FB and thought I'd share here too - must see stuff LINK

another gray and misty day ho hum - think I'm in Manchester or the Pacific NW

Sonja! Why do kids hate to go to bed? I love to go to bed! Where/when in life does that change? Lol

Sunny and 80 here today. I am planning on riding into work. I hope they have the outlets fixed in our locker room so I can shower and fix my hair after.

Last night it was 70 and I worked abbie on a search problem for about 40 mins and she almost had a heat stroke. Tonight will be worse. This weather has kept the dogs fur coats going for way too long. They really need to start blowing but they aren't yet. It is just normal every day shedding at this point.

My dog walker is coming today and I haven't cleaned. So embarrassed even though I K ow she doesn't care. I haven't vacuumed since Friday. Bad!

Piper looked out the window and decided to sleep in. When she heard the weather forecast, she hid. Rain, cold rain, with snow accumulating this afternoon. A measurable amount of snow on May Day. On the plus side, my lawn is turning GREEN. A truly beautiful color.

If the weather turns livable this weekend, I'll have to get a load of horse manure for the garden. I was just informed by the horses owner that it's a bring your own fork event. I was hoping to use his Bobcat.

I don't remember giving my parents a hard time about going to sleep when I was a kid.  Probably did since most kids do seem to fight bedtime.

Piper, you're a smart dog. :)  Watching the national weather this morning made me feel lucky that our so called cold fronts don't amount to much.  We're due for one tomorrow which is very unusual for us.  The peach crop has already taken some damage and I feel for the farmers who might get a freeze a little North of us.

Karen, that skeleton is so freaky.

There was a tarantula on the back porch this morning.  I leave the porch light on so the toads and night hunters have a good source of food.  Sometimes tarantulas take up a hunting spot.  When the dogs came back in from their morning trip outside they all put on the brakes when they saw him or her.  It was right next to the sliding glass door opening.  I opened the door and Belle and Rex came on in, giving it a wide berth.  Gabby stopped and looked really hard at it and moved a little closer to it.  It moved and she jumped and decided it might be best left alone. lol  I went out and managed to get it moved to another spot.

Warm and muggy today so the phone will be busy as it's been all week.  Is this only Wednesday?  Ack!

I used to hate afternoon naps as a kid. Now I wish I could take one every day, especially since I haven't been sleeping well lately. Sleep

Another super windy day today - blech! DH is worried that the pool has a leak but I'm sure it's just the wind that's causing it to evaporate so quickly.

My best friend's SIL is flying from Tampa to Denver for a job interview today. They're expected to get 6-9" of snow today. Hopefully he won't judge the city on one freak late season storm.

Lisa - from last night - you are not a bad mom!!! I've really been trying to get organized with appts and things lately. I still don't think I have a good system but I'm working on it. (((Hugs)))

Super excited for my Kindle to arrive tomorrow :)

Why do kids hate to go to bed? I love to go to bed! Where/when in life does that change?

Excellent question, Julie!  I'm never unhappy about having to go to bed.  In fact, there are many mornings when I'm dragging myself OUT of bed that I'm thinking to myself, "I can't wait until I can get back in here tonight!"  I realize that's actually a pretty pathetic way to live one's life.  Tongue Tied

From last night -- Lisa, you're not a bad Mom!  You're just incredibly busy with a full schedule that would exhaust most people.  And it's not like you missed the open house because you were out trolling the local bars.  You were having a fun family night, playing games with Riley and spending valuable time together!  I understand how upset you must've been, though.  I consider myself very organized, and on the rare occasion when I've completely missed a pre-scheduled thing (whether it be business or personal), I'm near tears, too.  It makes me think I'm starting to lose my mental capacity.

That little skeleton is creepy looking.  But it is fascinating to think how well preserved it is.  I wonder if they'll be able to determine exactly what it is.  Six inches is very tiny, even for a premature baby that died.  Maybe it was the baby of a pygmy or something.

Tarantulas on your patio, Jackie?  That's a frightening way to start a morning!

A few responses to yesterdays comments.

Jen glad to hear your neighbors new dog is in a crate. For sure, two loose dogs alone, one with territorial aggression, not good.

Cathy sorry for your dental visit problems. Luckily it eased up anyway. I always do my inhaler and something for my sinuses before a visit and I have many visits. Had a cleaning today and about half a dozen small cavities were found. Sounds like they're easy ones to get to anyway, not like many I've had. Medicines I take cause dry mouth and that's why such a problem with cavities.

Jan sorry about your glass jar and hope the manufacturer is able to send you one.

Poor Charlie, Callie. The pups are pretty good about telling when a bad storm is coming though. It is pretty amazing how fast their little paws can go when they are scratching frantically to get in. The two we have now aren't too bad about storms but we seem to have lots of guns or fireworks go off in our neighborhood and that terrifies our boy Corey. Couple nights ago I told him he was shaking so hard he was going to shake the house down. Poor fellow.

Worked out in the garden a bit last night. When I combed my hair over the sink after I came in, I combed out a dozen or so little beetle critters. Didn't even know they were there. Hadn't realized I'd got under anything enough for a whole lot of bugs to get in my hair. Washed my hair afterwards and about a half dozen more fell into the tub. Good thing,  they weren't ticks. Not sure which is worse, the tarantula on Jackie's patio or the little beetle bugs in my hair. I think I'd take the tarantula. I was ready to move where Doug lives, in the land where there is still snow, as I was ready for a deep freeze after the bug incident.

I know when I was a kid, I always felt like I was going to miss out on something by going to bed early. Especially since I was the youngest and had to go to bed earlier than my siblings. I would actually love to stay up later than I do now but if I try, I usually fall asleep on the couch.

I'm listening to old Sade songs on Pandora and it has me feeling really nostalgic and wanting to be on vacation.

Yup, I'd take the tarantula on the patio over a bunch of beetles in my hair, too, Maureen!  Ick!  Even after shampooing, I bet you still felt like they were crawling on you.

That story gives me another good reason to wear my dorky looking wide-brimmed hat that DH makes fun of when I'm in the garden.  It's mainly to protect my bottled hair color from fading, but also to protect my face and neck from the sun.  Now I'll tell him it's also to keep the beetle bugs from taking refuge in my hair!  Surprise

I've never hated going to bed.  I've always liked my sleep even as a kid!  I was always weird though lol.

I think my brain is going to explode.  Training all day to learn what it is my coworker does.  Lot of new things, but I'm having fun.  Still holding out hope for the job at the University though.  At least right now, I'm going back to full time and have some job security.

As much as I hate spiders, I'd take the tarantula over beetles in my hair!  Ugh *shiver*  I'd probably be very tempted to just shave my hair off!

LOL Julie that's so true for many kids and adults isn't it?

Never been a good sleeper here but going to bed never seemed to be a problem - I just wasn't likely to stay in bed LOL

I do wish I could take a nap now though Sleep

I wouldn't handle beetles in my hair very well - the tarantula I would say I would be better equipped to deal with

DH fixed the washer!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy dance!! Party!!!
