We got the news about the first lump just as we were heading out for some swimming - I was happy 

I'm so relieved. 

Almost time for me to leave the office.  We've got lots of unresolved problems at work but I'm leaving it all behind and plan to enjoy my half day of playing hooky.  The word 'hooky' looks odd, doesn't it?   Wonder about the origin of that word but not enough to look it up. lol

Oh, Karen and Bugsy--that is great news!!!!!!!!! I can't imagine the relief.

Play hooky is probably derived from the Dutch term hoekje (spelen) 'hide-and-seek'. The Dutch word hoek means 'corner'-- the boys in 17th-century New Amsterdam played this game around the corners of the street. Hide-and-seek was a different game back then--the players had to search for a hidden object.

Although play hooky originally referred to the game of hide-and-seek, it also had other meanings in the 17th and 18th centuries. It wasn't until the 19th century that schoolchildren began using play hooky to mean 'skip school.'

I have no focus today. First time in a long time but I just can't get anything done! I need to go find some project to inspect because being in the office is a complete waste of time today obviously. The weather is gorgeous too. Maybe I will pop in on the project I inspected last week that was a complete disaster just to keep them on their toes ;p

I just bought 3 pup lights. Having 3 dogs is expensive. In case you all didn't know that. Anyway, I emailed the puplight folks to ask them about their water resistance because my dogs all swim every chance they get so I need a light that will be visible through their fur and hold up to water. They emailed me right back (great customer service!) and said that they are not waterproof however, they will replace them for any reason for up to a year. They said the worst that will happen is that the battery plates will rust after a while from water getting inside but I can wipe that off or just ask for a replacement. Fine with me. None of my lights ever last for more than a year anyway (most way less than that) so we'll see how this goes. Up until now I have just been using human headlamps ($5 at walmart) but they haven't been working as well lately (shutting off, getting covered with fur, etc). I need a super light on Abbie because she moves so fast and so far when searching.

Yawn. Why can't every office have a futon like Jackies?

Man, I'd love to have a futon here. I've actually laid down on a yoga mat when I was super tired but the floor is hard as a rock and kills my back :(.

Gina - I was shocked at the cost of airline tickets too. I found the best deals with SW but even that wasn't as cheap as I'd remembered it. I hope you can find something not too far away to have fun with.

So does everyone here. That's why I have to put up a new gate for the kitchen. They really though oatmeal was great the other day. 

What else, what else... oh, I know. We went to the mall earlier today. We were walking through JC Penney, near the bras. Some woman walks up to us and asks, "are these for women?" Who the hell else would they be for!!! Later, we passed by there again (because we were in there with my niece, and she wanders all over and back again). She asked us how you figure out the sizes on them. My mom showed her how to look at the tags. Seriously, she wasn't young or anything. You think she would have bought a bra before and know how to do it.

Gina - you should take a train ride! We have always wanted to do that.

Or a boat?  We have a few places that do dinner dancing cruise around the lake and drive you back to a nice motel. :)
