Tuesday chatting from Cancun

OK, the day kind of vanished on me.

Jen, sorry you got bit, yes, keep it clean and watch it.

    Julie, oye, those poor ears!

As a single mom of two kids under five I got that a LOT.  Only for me it was more along the lines of "those little boys need a dad".  Call me foolish if you will, but, seems to me that getting married for the benefit of someone ELSE might just be the reason for the high divorce rate?  I'm just saying.....

We used to the get the "when are you having kids?" thing all the time.  I would respond "well, we've been trying..."  They would usually give me a sorrowful look and never ask again.  Little did we know I meant "we've been trying not too"  LOL  Yep one of the reasons I'm probably going to hell.

Today was the 1st day of public school in Michigan and it's been fun to see all the back to school pics on Facebook.  Riley had a meet the teacher day today for about an hour and her 1st day is actually tomorrow.  I remember this time last year I spent most of the day crying because she still wasn't in a class and I didn't know if she would ever be placed in one.  What a difference a year makes!

Karen - you better save some sun for me!!!  9 more days until I take your spot on the beach!

P.S.  when the teacher asked what Riley's favorite part of the summer was, she responded "riding the horsie, Dolly Big Smile"

omg that takes the cake!! How stupid people are.

Lisa, Riley's comment about the horse riding made me smile :) I am also loving all of the back to school photos on fb today.

Now that fall has officially started (I consider school time fall btw), I am eager to put out Halloween/harvest decorations! Must resist the urge.

Gosh, school started here Aug. 1!  Actually, it makes no sense to me why they start so early...not like we have to pad for snow days!

No kidding Ick! But, we have until at least Dec until we should see really cold stuff and snow (knock on wood) so there is a silver lining :)

Getting bitten is an occupational hazard for me, though honestly, I haven't been bitten in years. It's not the poor kid's fault that his mother doesn't cancel and keep him home from school when he's sick. I mean, sure, I don't get paid if I don't work, but honestly, if you give me a sick kid to work with, I don't do much of anything with that kid. So, even if you are trying to get every hour you can get, the kid doesn't get much out of it.

I decided I would probably stick around home for the night. The roads may flood some more, making it difficult to get around. I may go walk, but right now the list of people going tonight is all fast people. I can't keep up with them, and I don't want to be stuck by myself in the dark, or hold anyone up.

When people ask my why I don't have children (and I'm in a really PIA mood), I'll ask why they had so many/any. Devil

When people tell me I'm lucky I don't have children (which really irritates the crap out of me more than asking why I don't have any), I tell them it is my greatest sadness in life. That usually shuts them right up.

Today was our "meet with the new Freshmen" day--I even remembered to wear earrings!

It's a rainy day and we need it!

My coworkers talked me in to going out to lunch for Mexican food (my fave). I seriously ate like a pig and have felt yucky all afternoon. It sure was yummy though but I doubt I'll eat much for dinner tonight.

Julie - please don't say anything about winter.  The whole thing is like a jinx as far as I am concerned.  It snowed on October 1st last winter and it was awesome the rest of the time.  I hate winter, cold, ice, snow.  However, at least here in the winter when it snows the sun still shines.  I think it would 100% worse if it was just overcast and rainy - THAT WOULD MAKE ME CRAZY!

While we are on the subject of people being annoyingly personal....what is it about a preggers belly that makes people think that they have to TOUCH?
    • Gold Top Dog
Glenda - I agree.  Someone touched my belly once in a store and I grabbed their hand an told them how would they like it if I rubbed their belly - and she had one and she wasn't preggers...yeah, I bet that's the last time she did that!

I might just say that if anyone ever starts asking me about that.

My sister, the older one, was whining to my mom about my being able to pick and go this weekend with Luke and Callie. It's not my fault she married the idiot she is married too, and she had a kid. And, I didn't just pick up and go with the dogs. I arranged to work during the week so I could take the weekend off to do it. Aside from that, I pretty much did just pick up and go with the dogs. Clearly she must think a lot more occurred on this trip then really did. Friday I drove, stopped in Hershey and got snacks, and took the dogs to Antietam. Then we sat around the hotel and drank a bit. Saturday we sat around most of  the day, I called passes for my team and picked up the loose balls for another team. The friend I brought with picked up balls for my team, and was the box loader for the other team. Then we went out to dinner with the other team, and went back to the room and got drunk. The only really fun thing on Saturday was dinner. The rest was pretty boring, though I'd still do it again.

The sick kid's mother cancelled for tomorrow, thankfully. I still have to go out tomorrow morning early though, because I rescheduled a meeting from today to tomorrow, because I anticipated I would be out from 6:15 AM to 7:30 PM if I had kept it. I ended up home at 3:30, and now I have to go out just for that meeting. Oh well. I was probably going to cancel him tomorrow if she didn't, because I just wasn't going to torture that poor kid another day.

    hahaha!

Today was the first day of school here, too, except for 4k which starts next week. And I am SOOOOO glad. Apparently the whole busing situation was a clusteryouknowwhat. Because of budget cuts, there is only one bus company now, and they have 4k through 12th grade all one the same buses. They pick up elementary first, then middle school, then high school. Some kids have to ride a bus from the elementary school to the middle school, then switch buses to get home. But only in the afternoon - in the morning they stay on the same bus. Hmm So needless to say things did not go smoothly. Since I have a kid enrolled in school, I get the automated phone calls with updates. I got a call at 3:30 saying the buses were running a half hour late. A half hour later I got a call saying the buses had just left the high school. People were complaining like crazy on FB saying their kid was stuck sitting on a curb for 50 minutes waiting for the bus. Some kids got on the wrong bus, and one bus was missing for a half hour - turns out it was driving the wrong route. Indifferent I sure as heck hope they get it figured out by next week when the 4-year-olds have to ride.
