Another Town Passes Vicious Dog Ordinance

I posted a name suggestion on the other thread you made, but I was also thinking that if the dog you get is already knows their name (like Bella or Twiggy that you posted pictures of), then you may just want to stick with that name for the dog's sake.

its just a temporary name, they dont know her original name.  i really cant stand the name twiggy :p

hahahaha...well, if you can't stand it then you should probably change it.  It wouldn't be good for the dog if you to cringe everytime you say her name. [:D]

Does it remind you too much of the 60's?  [;)]

Subjects like this make me angry. [sm=soap%20box.gif] It's not necessarily the dog - it's the irresponsible owners that made everyone fear the breed b/c they didn't control their animal.  Any dog can be vicious if not trained properly and any dog (pitts, rots, etc) can be the sweetest dogs ever if trained properly.  Why don't they muzzle and restrain the irresponsible owners??  You always hear the stories of how the "vicious" dog attacked and killed someone, but they don't blow up the good stories as much.  One of my sister's friends has small children and a full blood pitt bull.  The pit is protective of the family and when a stranger (to the dog) even speaks to the kids in an aggresive manner, the dog will simply walk in between the child and the person.  Oh yeah, he sounds vicious to me.  Stupid people make mean animals.

well i finally heard back from apartment manager and i cant get a pit bull, dob, akita, chow, etc.  ive already been looking at other kinds of dogs just in case but i havnt been able to find any other ones so far that would fit with my family and everything else i want in a dog (that doesnt cost a small fortune) so i guess ill still be looking for a while.  im kinda bummed.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Jaye.  I was worried that might be the case.

Do you plan on staying in that apartment for a while?
    • Gold Top Dog
    yeah

Well, you'll find just the right dog.  Don't worry.  There are soooo many out there that need homes.  Don't give up. [:)]

i found another dog at the shelter, tell me what you think, shes a medium size shepherd mix.  they have her labeled as a german shepherd and there may be some in her but she definately is not pure.  we havnt been able to interact with her yet but we ve been visiting her the past couple days and petting her through the bars. we went twice today and the 2nd time she seemed excited to see us.  she was abandoned, they sent notice to the owners and no one can play with her until the waiting period is up on sunday.  my kids wont be here then but im going to borrow some kids to come with me to play with her and see how she acts.  she seems really sweet and mellow.  shes 4 years old.  do you think its ok to get a dog like from a shelter?
