How often do you feed?

Three times a day usually. If it were up to the dog he would eat 100 times a day. [:D] But I feed him breakfast and dinner, and my boyfriend has him midday usually and likes to give him lunch though it's not really necessary. If I have him all day I usually skip his lunch and give those calories in the form of chicken treats for some kind of training or freeshaping game.

How many meals a day you should give depends on the size of dog. Small breeds need to eat more often because they are more prone to hypoglycemia, but lots of big dogs are fine with one meal daily.

I feed Max usually just once a day, in the morning.  I give him 1-1/2 c. and he just sort of nibbles and grazes throughout the day.  If he finishes it fairly early, I give him another 1/2 c. in the evening, but most of the time he still has a little left when it's time for everyone to go to bed and in that case, he wouldn't get any more.  He's 63 lbs. so that doesn't sound like a lot, but apparently it works for him.

I free feed all of my animals.  I alwasy have and there's not a problem.  This is also good for my cats and the Guinea pigs when we are gone since somebody doesn't have to come by at a set time. Gypsy usually eats late in the afternoon and sometimes int he morning.

Lana gets fed twice a day.  Once in the morning around 8-ish in the morning and one in the evening around 6:30-ish.  We don't have an exact time every day but she is fed around those times.  If she eats breakfast, she gets snacks throughout the day.

The dogs don't really have a specific meal time, I mean I try to feed them at a certian time, but if we're busy then I obvioudly can't. Since I'm the one that always feeds them, sometimes if I'm gone overnight or for the day, my family will just forget to feed the dogs their meal! [>:] So I have to leave specific instructions "Don't forget to feed the dogs!". [:D] Anyway, they usually get fed right away after they get up, otherwise they follow me around and bother me for breakfast! That's 8-9am usually, but if I get up earlier, they get fed earlier, etc. In the evening, I say 6:30 is their suppertime, but sometimes they don't eat until about 9pm or so. Usually not earlier than 6, though.

We actually have a dog that gets free fed, she's kinda the outside dog, and so she's got food in her dish almost all the time, but sometimes I wonder if she ever eats at all; I think there are probably sometimes she goes days without eating! [8|] Who knows, but really, this dog is a few bricks shy of a load! [;)] lol

I feed my 3 their  kibble in the morning, around 7 a.m..Usually about 3x a week they get mackeral, beets, greens, applesauce, cottage cheese or peas and sometimes carrots in the evening, but I consider this a snack rather than a meal.

Mine get three meals and a snack. Emma does best this way, and Teenie seems to like it, too!

I feed my guys twice daily, once in the morning whenever I happen to wake up and then again around 5:00-5:30pm.

I feed three times a day, but lunch is just a snack - a chicken neck, usually.

Our guys get fed 2x per day.  In morning its about 7:00-7:30 (after the morning play time) and then again at about 4:30 p.m.  I don't like to feed them too late in the evening b/c I want ample time for them to digest and potty before bed.  Also, when we have agility class I will not feed until after class, which is usually about 7:00 p.m. They will usually get a few liver treats, bully sticks or bones throughout the day as well.

Blue usually gets feed 2 meals a day with snacks inbetween meals, but due to the hot weather around here he is only eating his meals at night so now he gets a meal once a day.

Mojo, our 85 pound Labradoodle, and Emma, our 60 lb. Airedale, each get a milkbone early in the morning (we leave for the gym a little before 6 each weekday morning) and get dinner between 6.30 and 7.

They each get a slice of American cheese at about 9 pm.

Mojo gets 3 full cups of dry kibble, Emma gets 2 1/4.

On the weekends they'll get an occasional raw vegetable while we're cooking, perhaps a couple of slices of green or red pepper, or some raw broccoli or cucumber.

    That's it.

    No table snacks ever.

My crew get breakfast (Innova kibble) normally between 8 and 9 depending on how fast I'm moving.  If I must leave early, I get up VERY early so they can have some play/potty time and still have breakfast early enough to toilet before I have to leave.

They get their homecooked for dinner somewhere between 7 and 7:30 each evening.  About once a week, they get raw instead of homecooked.  Their basic treats, other than training treats, are raw bones.  These come in REALLY handy on horribly hot afternoons when they can't be outside playing and I have a  lot of stuff that needs doing.
