Thursday Chat - anybody want to open the Tiki Bar early?

Just a little sleepy this morning.

Wore my coat to an Italian/American restaurant the other day and it STILL smells like BO!  (I mean cooked onions...)

sure alcohol may help everyone here...............my DH got pissy because I kept waking him up because he was snoring so he left and slept on a couch. So he's not talking to me.

Then sister and mother are having some disagreement - don't know what about - but like my DH, my sister can be very irritable, UGH!

Other than that its been great - seriously - which always makes me think that people prone to grumpiness on visits just need to get over themselves! So I'm taking the kids to the lake for a wander and then after lunch we'll head into downtown for some museums.

The kids, Bugsy and I are all happy and ready for some fun hahahahaha

bloody mary will help restore some potassium as well as take the edge off the nerves Stick out tongue

thank you to all that looked at the video and commented - I appreciate it and just never got back on line that day!

Tina, you've got to be kidding about your water heater?  You must have really ticked off the major appliance gods this past year.  Hope it's nothing terminal.  You did manage to fix your dishwasher so maybe you can google water heater troubleshooting and give it a go.

Karen, I love a spicy bloody mary!  I think you and the kids and Bugsy have the right idea on the whole day!  Hope everyone else at your house is able to get a better attitude before you get back home. lol

I'm slowly but surely transforming into a gripey old lady.  I just finished writing a letter to a reporter for the local paper.  He wrote an article about fireworks that really ticked me off.  All about this guy who spent over $1,000 this year and who thumbs his nose at the law against setting them off in town.  Hardly a word in the article about the dangers but plenty about how wonderful sales have been at the fireworks sellers this year and describing all the different types of fireworks.  We have some beautiful professional displays put on here by the Air Force and by the City.  Why not encourage people to watch these instead of possibly burning down someone's house or injuring a child.  Not to mention the effects they have on some dogs.  Yes, I guess I'm still mad or I wouldn't still be going on about it. lol  Sorry about that.

Not kidding.  I don't mind tepid showers in the summer, but in the winter is a different story entirely.

I don't know how.  I've tried to be a good owner.

Tina, I hope you wash your hands before posting. I don't want your appliance-killing germs! Stick out tongue Actually, I think it may be too late. Our water pump has been making some really odd noises lately. It gets really loud then quiet, then really loud again. DH cleaned some nozzle or something, but that didn't help. He thinks it may be a bearing. Also our washer or dryer, not sure which one, has been randomly putting big (1" long) rust stains on our clothes. Sad

Still coughing. I am sooooo sick of coughing! Willa got it a few days ago, now poor Sonja woke up with it. And I'm sure my sister's kids are going to go home with it... Hmm... payback I guess. Devil

Bummer about all the sickness going around jano :(

I took today off work. There wasn't enough to keep me busy and it's the worst form of torture to be at work with nothing to do but reading/research. Drives me batty. So, I'm going to do a bunch of errands. Maybe go shop for a new pair of jeans. I'm tempted to make a run to cabelas but have a dermatologist appt late this afternoon which i cant miss so i need to stay local. Bummer tho, cabelas is calling my name!

You all are talking about a fear of mine regarding home ownership - when major appliances fail!  Eek!  Scares me more than mortgage payments!  I hope it gets sorted swiftly and CHEAPLY.  ugh, poor Tina.

Yesterday was my grandmother's service and my best friend came and brought her 3yr old daughter.  It was a casual gathering sort of thing - no coffins or urns and no church or cemetery action - just a bunch of people in a room, most in black, talking about my grandmother.  Unfortunately, the room was stifling hot and her daughter broke out in hives that seem to have been triggered by the heat.  It was scary to see, but she was fine, swallowing and breathing and everything normal other than this splotchy red all over. Poor peanut.  Poor mommy for having driven an hour to be there with us and then had to leave shortly after arrival.  I love her for making the effort, and I'm glad to report the baby was fine by the evening, almost all the hives gone by this morning.

It wouldn't be so bad if I weren't already having to replace my furnace.

I could have it worse, though.  Found out recently that a grandson of some very dear family friends of mine broke his neck in a diving accident a few months ago.  He is an older teenager.  He is paralyzed from the chest down, but in ongoing physical therapy and his doctors are hopeful he will recover more movement.  Sort of puts appliance problems in perspective.

Paige, yuck. Can you Febreeze the coat? I have febreeze smell more than most food smells though.

A bunch of my "mommy" friends of FB have posted about the nurse-ins at Target. I guess some ding-bat decided to plop down on the floor and nurse her son in the women's clothes department at Target. She's got her panties all in a wad that they asked her to move...uh, DINGBAT! They didn't ask you to move because you were nursing, they asked you to move because you were SITTING. ON. THE. FLOOR. I'm a-thinking they would have asked someone to move if they'd plopped down on the floor to bottle feed their baby.

I offered to sync DH's new iPhone since he worked late last night and had to go straight in this morning. Of course, that means I need to sync the old phone first so I can transfer the contacts - and the man has *NINE* updates that need to be installed first. I know what I'm doing this morning...drinking mimosas and updating DH's computer.

Paige good to see you back.  Poor little baby getting the hives glad to hear she is better.

Tina....it does seem to me like a snowball effect when it comes to appliances, *whispers* holding my breath that I can get the heat pump fixed before something else breaks...

Jackie you sound so like me...lol...in my old age I have found that I am less likely to hold my tongue and more likely to express my opinion.  I do firmly believe in the power of a letter.  Something my Dad taught me.  I also believe letters should be sent when someone goes out of there way to do a good job :).  Maybe you can follow up your soapbox letter with one to someone that impressed you with their kindnessWink  or not!!!Stick out tongue

    Is it Friday yet??

I am at a library this morning because I had some time between clients, who live near each other, and not enough time to go home. I also got asked to come later to another house tonight It's actually my regular time, but I was going to go earlier. Anyway, about the library... this is the nosiest library ever. People are stomping up and down the stairs, on their cell phones, little kids run by shouting. Umm... when my friend and I used to come here earlier in the year, we'd get hell if we made even the slightest bit of noise, or if one talked on the cell phone, whispering, trying to find where the other one was at. Heaven forbid you had water in a closed bottle and they saw that, you'd have hell to pay. I  can still get my work done, but I can here instead of Panera or Barnes and Noble, aside from not wanting to spend money, because I had a certain expectation of quiet. That is all.

I agree.  I do the same but some days it seems there are more things to complain about than good deeds or good jobs to compliment.  I did give our UPS guy, the mailman and the garbage man gift certificates this week.  They all three go above and beyond sometimes.  I wrote a letter to the PO about our great mailman.  I've been a big complainer to the local PO this past year and they finally assigned this new guy and he's been great.
