    yay for fridat chat

This getting up early stuff is for the birds. I want my 8 am wake up time back A friend of mine is making enchilada dinner tonight with pheasant. I've never had pheasant before so I'm looking forward to it. Plus i get to hang out with Mischa (the yellow lab sar dog) who I love. Sat and sun are both packed. I wish i could get to see my gma today rather than sunday but oh well. More traveling today. There's a fine layer of snow on the ground too. Just enough to make the roads extremely icey.

It's cold here this morning, but somehow refreshing! The ground has about an inch of frost in it, so it made scooping the yard easy while the dogs played.

I've got two morning clients, then the afternoon off. Repeat that Saturday! Sunday I am taking my board/train girl to see her owners, for a visit and to let them know how things are going.

Hoping to get some gifts wrapped this weekend! I've got all my shopping done now except for stocking stuffers for SO.  Excited to have that out of the way! Although I'm sure the "buying bug" will get me one more time before Christmas comes!

So cute.  Nothing like a row of dogs to make your day. Big Smile

Not much going on here today.  Food shopping later and maybe a trip to Target.  Mr. W is attending some kind of sporting event tomorrow, hockey I think, so maybe Jamison and I will decorate the house.

Julie, I'm with you on the too early wake up time.  I woke up at 4:30 because it was too danged hot in the house.  I like it much cooler than the guys do and normally its just a matter of stripping down to the basics, but, for some reason today I simply couldn't fall back asleep.  Oh well.  Won't hurt me to be up early.

24 degrees here this morning so certainly on the brisk side, but, the sun is shining so won't complain.  Not that it would do me any good if I did!

MUST get these ornaments finished today, and gifts wrapped so I can get things in the mail the first part of the week.  I love doing the ornaments for my family, but, my shoulder doesn't love me much for the repetitve motions so I tend to delay getting back to them.  Must buckle down today!

Heres to a great and HEALTHY day for everyone!

Julie must be tired.  Fridat.  Stick out tongue

My Xmas present is a new furnace.  I hoped to wait til spring, but I don't know it'll make it that long.  This home ownership crap is for the birds.

That sux Tina.  Sorry that it can't wait 'til Spring.

    • Gold Top Dog

    Bummer on the furnace.  :(

I still haven't gotten my stamps in the mail... fail, post office, fail.

It's 9:30, I already ate breakfast, but i'm hungry yet again.  Maybe my banana will hold me over until lunch!

ain't that the truth - 2011 has been a year of broken large ticket items for us Super Angry And I am aware of at least 4 additional large ticket items in our near future Crying

    Cold and gray today.

Full moon on its way - DH didn't sleep well which means neither did I.  Also whether it is the moon, the cold weather or that he is over whatever was bothering him, Bugsy has been an absolute loon since yesterday and this morning is as wired and insane as he ever has been

LOTS to do today - work & home.  Will be sending out my cards today - wahoo!!!

Oh and the ribs were excellent.  I took the meat off the extras and that will make some serious burritos Stick out tongue

In regards to yesterdays chat about people asking for money, anyone remember my story about the two guys from WVA who ran out of gas, etc and couldn't get home and needed money and spun this whole tale and I felt bad and gave them $5 or $10 or whatever I had?  DH and I felt bad enough to go and tell them we would take them back to their car in downtown and buy then a full tank of gas to get them to WVA -- a tank is enough to get there from here -- but clearly that wasn't good enough for them.  They wanted mortgage money since they were missing work or some other crazy scheme.  So that finally made me believe that clearly it was a scam, not to mention they wanted me to go to the bank or ATM for cash when all I had to give them was the 5 or 10 or whatever it was.  If all they needed was gas money, they would have accepted the gas in lieu of money and been happy.  It's sad though since I really would help someone if they truly ran out of gas.

I was approached by a guy begging in Walmart's parking lot yesterday. He went as far as to show me his ID card from a shelter or something - I didn't read it.  Panhandler's can get a 'license' to beg here which is such a bizarre concept to me. Anyway I did not give him money and really didn't feel comfortable being approached as I was loading up my vehicle, handbag on my seat, etc.  As I drove off I started to feel badly and I thought perhaps his social skills are so poor that he doesn't realize how uncomfortable that would feel to the person he approached.  i don't know I am such a bleeding heart I felt so bad afterward and thought I should have done something.  he was an older guy and homeless.

Writing this I was reminded of a time when I was about 8 and was in Manhattan with my grandmother - who was widowed young and worked in the city, traveling by public transport on her own very early morning and late nights= tough. Anyway some guy was begging and I gave him whatever coins I had in my pocket and my grandmother was like, "don't be so gullible, he's just going to go buy booze with that."   I felt sad about the guy on the street and then I felt sad for getting chewed out for what I thought at the time was a good thing to do. No worries I'm over it now LOL

I've got to get some packages mailed off today but don't have the boxes I thought I had. :(  I dread making an extra trip to the post office but I guess I have no choice.

I'm tired of this head cold if anyone wants to take it off my hands.

Weather here is mild but gray and dreary.  Yesterday's sunrise was one of the most beautiful I've ever seen.

I was so mad at this fool driver this morning.  I was in a school zone going just under 20 mph.  I saw this car come up fast in my rearview mirror but didn't think too much of it.  A few seconds later this idiot passed me, on the right side!  This is not two lanes and the car was flying.  Kids all around and not even fully light yet.  I really wanted to chase them down and ask if being late to work or school was worth that stupid stunt.  Where is a cop when you need one?

Lots of paperwork to do here so I guess I should get busy.  Coworker has gone to pick up some tamales.  I have no will power when it comes to good tamales.  DH and I had some a few weeks ago that were the best ever.  They are super expensive, which is good, because otherwise we'd have eaten ourselves into a coma. lol

I used to manage a convenience store (ask how much I miss it). Young man in a truck, late at night, spent his last few dollars on smokes, then realized he needed gas to get home. When he asked me, I said I could spot him a couple of gallons (this was from my pocket). He said he would prefer a tank full, so I told him to enjoy his walk home, I to not leave the truck on my lot. I don't mind helping people in need, but I don't like to be conned. I offered to refund the smokes and apply the money to his gas, but his priorities seemed to involve my money.

I want my 8 am wake up time back

When I complain about waking up at 6:15am, I think of my BFF who leaves her house at 4am so she can go to the gym, then come home and get herself and her 3yr old daughter ready for work/school, takes her dog for a mile walk if her husband doesn't, then goes and works as an Asst District Attorney, and has a very full and busy social life of extended family and friends.

I have a  gym right here at work I could use if I wanted to get up any earlier than 6:15am.  Not gonna happen, especially in the winter w/roads covered in snow and an hour commute on dry/clear roads!!

Found more discovery among my grandparents pics - including the letters my uncle wrote when he was an MP in the army back in 1959/1960.  I'm so glad I asked for the pics and that they didn't get tossed!!  Looking through them I found my parents' wedding pics, so I called my father and we're meeting for dinner next week.  Haven't seen him in about 5 years.  Luckily his girlfriend won't be there, I think.  I hope!

That would get me, too.  One thing to be nice, but when it's not appreciated, sheesh!

We were in college in the grocery store and some guy came up to us, said he was $5 short on his order, did we have a couple bucks?  I, feeling bad, didn't even think to tell him to just put something back, gave him what he needed - even though we both only worked part time in retail and clearly didn't have much extra.  Not 5 min later we see him up at the counter buying cigarettes.  I told him off, I was so angry.
